We Love Our Hispanics

September 17, 2019 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Holy Moly, Trump literally said, “We love our Hispanics” in a speech in New Mexico and asked someone, “Who do you love more, Hispanics or America?”

Giving a speech totally aimed at Hispanics, Trump even claimed that Hispanics in America love him but also Hispanics from Venezuela and Cuba love him, too.

Trump’s disapproval rating among Hispanics stood at 79 percent in a Pew Research Center poll last month.

I’m not saying I’ve done polling or anything but I kinda suspect that Trump is not all that popular in Venezuela and Cuba either. That’s just a guess but I’d be will to bet $10 cash American money on it.

By the way, Trump lost New Mexico by 8 points.  I guess he thinks he didn’t kiss their butts enough because, after all, Trump thinks that butt kissing is what wins people over.  At least it works with him.

  1. I saw last night on CNN that Trump’s “My African-American,” the one black person he singled out in a campaign rally, has left the Republican party because he said it is focused only on white people. Let’s hope the Hispanic voters in New Mexico feel the same way.

  2. We especially love our collection of Hispanic children, the largest and best ever!

“Nobody loves the Hispanics more!” Trump continued, before asking Cortes a question that suggested Latinos have dual loyalties: “Who do you like more, the country or the Hispanics? He says the country. I don’t know, I may have to go for the Hispanics to be honest with you. We got a lot of Hispanics! We love our Hispanics.”

In one especially odd moment, Trump remarked upon how white one of his key Latino surrogates looks.

“He happens to be Hispanic, but I’ve never quite figured it out because he looks more like a WASP than I do. So I haven’t figured that one out. But I’ll tell you what — there is nobody that loves this country more or Hispanic more than Steve Cortes,” Trump said. (Cortes is a pro-Trump television commentator and member of Trump’s Hispanic Advisory Council.)

    – Subestimación!
Trump is not doing well with Latinos in particular or in New Mexico in general

  3. Please don’t ask how someone can be more Hispanic.

Extending Megasoid @2: “We especially love our collection of Hispanic children, the largest and best ever! We keep them in cages so my supporters can get $750 a day for each one!”

Reminds me of the old W.C. Field joke: I have the heart of a little boy. Keep it in a jar in my desk drawer.

Only it was funny when WCF said it. With Trump, his quotes veer between stupid and scary.

My hairdresser was born in Mexico City. He’s now a citizen but returns there to visit family. He haaaates Trump and his family does as well. Maybe Trump means that Hispanic comics love him because he’s given them so much material for their acts?

  6. With the Obama reforms, many Cubans invested in tourist oriented businesses, especially hotels and other lodging, and restaurants. They took out loans, waiting for the wave of American tourists. It breaks my heart. No, I don’t think they love him.

  7. We were lucky enough to go on a cruise to Havana last April. I’m not a fan of cruises generally, but this seemed like a great chance to see the city. We met some lovely people, and it does make me sad to think about the effect on their businesses, all because Trump is jealous of Obama. Upon leaving there, we all agreed we’d like to go back, but Donnie slammed that door shut not long after. Here’s hoping he’s gone soon and the restrictions will be lifted, again.

  8. Grandma Ada, My bro from Ohio told me of a fellow analyst, born in Mexico but now a citizen, who moved from OH to TX because he couldn’t take the harassment. Good Xtian folk they have there in OH.

  9. Here’s a suggested line for Trump’s next Our Hispanics Rally:

Good fences, the best fences and walls ever built, make for good Hispanic neighbors.

  10. No one does patronizing quite like a Republicon. It has been said that IQ4.5 ruined the Republicon Party. But with Donnie’s latest moronic speech to be king of the ***king morons, it’s equally possible that being a Republicon has put the final nasty touch to the ***king moron.

When they concern troll us, it’s laughable when it is not punch worthy. But Jane says I shouldn’t punch, bad example for our sons, so it’s white knuckles with restraint time.

Jane, and especially PKM: my wife is also opposed to violence. So I just smile (OK, it probably looks more like a snarl) and say “Well, bless his shriveled, blackened lump of coal that sits where a human’s heart would normally reside”.

    See if that helps.

  12. Opinionated Hussy says:

Professor, down here in the South we just say, “Bless his heart! If you put his brain on the end of a pin, it’s roll around!” (Do add the regional accent….it helps the sarcasm come through)

  13. Linda Phipps says:

What I will never ever understand is the 23 precent of hispanics who DON’T disapprove of Trump. Of course he gets support from all kinds of people he marginalized like women, Jews, Blacks, poor people, etc. He has no positive feeling for anyone who is not white and rich.

    13
  14. “We love our Hispanics”??? Like they were property? Like in the slave states “We love our N…..”?

    14
  15. According to my information from people of Latin heritage, they dislike the term “Hispanic”.
Trust Trump to use it multiple times.
