Two Year Old Stuff Does Not Count as NEWs
About 50 people have emailed me to let me know that Tom DeLay is going to prison. It has apparently spread all over the internet machine.
Well, duh. That happened two years ago. I was there. We even had a party the night before. I saw that sniveling little man stand before the judge and give unsworn testimony that he was not whining (he had to say that 3 times) but that Nancy Pelosi, Patrick Kennedy and Ronnie Earl made him do this. The little coward clutched his Bible to his chest but wouldn’t take an oath to tell the truth.
The best I can figure is that somebody at the Huffington Post accidentally re-posted the two year old story and it caught fire.
The case has been on appeal for two years. Tom DeLay is begging money for his legal defense fund. The money is being handled by Brent Perry, the son of Bob Perry of Swift Boat Veterans for Truth fame.
Tom’s dancin’ body is puffy now and his home for foster children – built mainly with Bob Perry money to make Tom look good before his trial – was a complete failure and after a year of sitting empty, it has been turned over to another charitable organization. Tom quit caring about foster children when he didn’t need to hide behind them any more.
I see him around every now and then. He still ain’t speaking to me.
I am a little slow this am.
1He is still out on appeal?
How long will he have to serve altogether?
Maybe it is just wishful thinking!! Seriously, would you even WANT him to speak to you? Ugh … you’d have to clean out your ears … best to move to the other side of the street to avoid all contact of any kind … verbal or otherwise!!
2“Criminalization of politics”…what a phrase. So some politicians (GOP, of course) should be immune to prosecution for their lying, cheating, and stealing to keep their party on top, while others (Dems, of course) should be pilloried and prosecuted to the max for anything you can find.
I’m afraid Tom’s a guy who will use prison to teach himself new ways to commit crimes.
3Maybe ol’ Roscoe will teach him a few new dancin moves too!
4Darlin’ the fact that DeLay isn’t speaking to you speaks well of you and says volumes about him! There is nothing that gets my knickers in a knot faster than a grown pseudo-man hiding behind kids to make himself look good!
As my Momma used to say, DeLay is the kinda man who, after he visited, would force you to get the Lysol out – just to be on the safe side.
5Thanks for setting things straight, JJ! And I’m with Deb…if Dumb as a Hammer Hammer won’t speak to you, that’s a GOOD thing.
(And I didn’t get my pound of flesh, but the result was relatively satisfying…)
6Maybe he should change his first name to more accurately reflect his present situation; from Tom DeLay to Jail DeLay.
7Didn’t the appeal case come up in October? When are the judges going to speak?
8Justice should be swift, balanced and fair except in DeLay’s case. A miserable human being.
9Didn’t some Repub just say that Hammers were deadlier than guns?
10Speaking of bad facelifts, Louie needs to check out DeLay. He just doesn’t look right.
11“Hot Tub” Tom’s appeal was heard by the 3rd Court of Appeals back on Oct. 10, 2012. Three to six months passing before a decision would not be unusual. If the Court upholds the convictions there would be another round appeals to the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals [ known to death penalty appellants as the “smallest lynch mob in Texas” ].
12Tommy could well expire before his appeals do, making the felony conviction moot not unlike Ken Lay.
May DeLay live long enough see the inside one of our fine penal institutions.
Yeah I fell for that too. Some blog printed it and then it spread around the internet before anyone realized it was an old link. But that reminds me that his appeals should be about up soon, so we need to keep our ears open on this one .. he COULD be going to prison soon. Goddess willing.
13@Rick — I think I’ve been on Facebook too much, I want a “Like” option for your comment.
14As One of the Guilty 50 – guess we are all just really wishing to see DeLay in an orange jumpsuit~
15Did I hear someone say, “Dumber than a sack of Hammers”?
Or is this about a sack full of something else?
16he is a slime ball that’s for sure. That’s what some of them do and get away with it here in Texas. They get out on appeal and then their lawyers make sure so many years pass by that the public will forget about what they have done.
Speaking of which and to open yet another can of Republican worms. . . What ever happened to that case in Collin County in May of 2010 when the Texas Rangers raided the Collin county offices and took hard drives and other evidence of Republican clerks (I think it was six women) who used taxpayers money and worked out of public offices to run elections campaigns for Republicans in Collin County.
Crigger, Kunkle and Rebecca Littrell are each charged with one count of abuse of official capacity and one count of conspiracy to commit abuse of official capacity. If convicted, they face up to 10 years in prison. Sherry Bell is charged with one count of conspiracy to commit abuse of official capacity. If convicted, she faces up to two years in prison. But the last I heard was on Dec 5 2011 when the jury was sent home after the defense unexpectedly rested. I haven’t read anything about it since.
17Wow! I used to think Louisiana had a mortal lock on criminal lunacy. One of their governors even governed from a jail cell! And don’t get me going on the Longs! They were somethin’ else, too! But I guess just due to the sheer size of Texas we see more agin’ the law nuttery there.
18Whatever happened to John Colyandro? Wasn’t he supposed to go to trial as well?
19The Collin County election campaign case resulted in 3 of the 4 defendants being found Guilty. The trial and verdict summaries can be found at the Collin County Observer blog.
