Twitter Twit

Okay, on one hand we have wimpy Republican State Senator Dan Patrick, a man who doesn’t even write his own tweets.

Screen Shot 2014-01-24 at 9.13.27 AMOn the other hand we have San Antonio Mayor Julián Castro.  Mayor Castor  is a graduate of Stanford University and Harvard law school.  Y’all remember him because he delivered the keynote address at the Democratic National Convention.

Dan Patrick went to the University of Maryland and trained to be a sports broadcaster.  He now has one of those verbal vomit rightwing talk shows in Houston.  He’s running for Lt. Governor.

So Mayor Castro decides it’s time to goad Dan Patrick.

Maybe I should add here that Mayor Castro’s grandmother came from Mexico to America to live with extended family after she was orphaned at 8 years old.  She’s an immigrant.

So, Patrick, or someone someone from Patrick’s office, tweeted back …

So, I think maybe there’s some rhetorical problems here:  Talk is cheap, let’s debate.  Uh, I think debating is talking.  I dunno, maybe he wants to debate with swords or something.

So last night Mayor Castro tweeted back …

“Let’s do that, Dan Patrick.”

I might add that Castro has about 55,600 followers, while Patrick has 10,200.

My bet is that Mayor Castro will wait to see if Patrick wins the GOP nomination and if he does, debate him then and whip his hiney all over the state.  The Democrat for Lt. Gov is my favorite Democrat on the ticket – Leticia Van de Putte.  Yes, she’s Hispanic.

Honey, all you gotta do is dig a hole and idiots will step right into it.

Be social and share!

  1. Ralph Wiggam says:

I hope it is a formal debate. Be it resolved that Dan Patrick is “the most anti-immigrant Republican running for state wide office.”

Which side of that debate will Patrick take?

  2. That debate would be so uneven! Only Castro will be the one to show up with a brain!

  3. Marge Wood says:

You might also contact Castro’s office and say NO FAST TRACK FOR TRANS PACIFIC PARTNERSHIP.

  4. The old “talk is cheap” comeback really serves to undermine Patrick’s position, since he is proposing to engage in even more of this talking stuff. Perhaps he intends to utilize hand signs for the hearing impaired or charades. If he wimps out and uses a power point show there better not be any talking on it.

Dan Patrick isn’t even his original name. He was born Daniel Scott Goeb. I guess that sounded a little too “Northeastern” for his Texas redneck radio audience, so he made the change. Best of luck, Mayor Castro.

I hope it’s live streamed…I’ll make a big ole bowl of popcorn!

  7. Battle of wits???? Indeed. Patrick is unarmed.

As much as I’d enjoy hearing a “debate” between these two, tying their left arms together and arming each with a sharp hatchet would be potentially more entertaining.

  8. Micr beat me to it. In a battle of wits, Dan is unarmed. Utterly.

  9. Carl Whitmarsh says:

Juanita, please. Trained to be a sports broadcaster? This is a man who broadcast his vasectomy for gawds sake. Only newsworthy thing out of that was some of us were surprised he actually had the equipment to be worked on. Can you hear the quips that will come when that gets rebroadcast and the further denigration of Texas? Oh the saliva glands go into overdrive thinking of a Dan Patrick matchup with LVP – WE KNOW SHE’S GOT THE RIGHt STUFF…and she doesn’t need to pretend.

  10. College Park MD is a few miles from us and I just want to state that Dan Patrick is not Maryland’s fault. He was probably already a jackwagon when he got here. Mind you, we do have some of our own at UM….

  11. Wow! I would pay good money to see that debate! Patrick the KHOU sportscaster when moved to Houston over thirty years. Was always a good reason to change channels. He was a pompous jerk. Nothing in the intervening years has altered that opinion.

Names are personal and ought to be respected and not chuckled at. I’m doing my best, folks. Go Leticia.
