Twitter Is Now A Musk Company

October 27, 2022 By: Half Empty Category: Uncategorized

As of today, the much-anticipated sale of the Twitter social media platform to Elon Musk is a done deal.

Twitter joins SpaceX and Tesla in Musk’s stable of wholly-owned subsidiaries. Heads have already rolled as Musk has already relieved top Twitter execs Parag Agrawal, Ned Segal and Vijaya Gadde of their jobs, and given to the door name painter some additional work, as corporate takeovers usually do.

But uppermost in the mind of Tweeters and non-tweeters alike is when will TFG get reinstated on the platform as promised by Musk? When can we expect the Twitinsanity to resume? TFG himself has already claimed that he will be “back” on Halloween.

Surprisingly apt timing to say the least.

Me? I am an occasional tweeter but it is not central to my core being. So I have vowed to cancel my Twitter account the minute I hear of TFG’s account being reinstated.

Mainly what I’ll miss is the occasional missives by Mr. Sulu (aka George Takei).

Sorry, Mr. Sulu. I have standards.

Be social and share!

Dang it. I offered $39 billion to buy Twitter, but Musk outbid me.

  4. Back when Twitter first started was that “Twitter was for Twits” and it has definitely come true now.

  5. I was banned from Twitter after making a silly comment, will I now be allowed back on ? Had a few friends around the world on Twitter .

I left Twitter the day Musk announced he was buying it. No one will miss me as I never posted a single tweet, I just joined to read other posts. Not now. I hope there is a mass exodus but I know most people won’t care who owns it as long as they can post.

  7. John J Spokas Jr says:

I have never used twitter nor will I.

  8. Jim says, I also got banned but had no trouble re-registering under a slightly different version of my name. My frustration with the idea of quitting Twitter is that’s where I get all my Ukraine information and videos from the front and from the Ukrainian government. Does anyone have other sources I could go to? It really offends me to stay with Musk…yuck!

  9. The ONLY consequence that TFG has ever had to suffer in silence. The only relief given to the world of twits. And Musk wants to give it back to him??!! Things that make you go hmm?

  10. My Tweet to @elonmusk early today:

    You SUCK!

  11. Steve from Beaverton says:

Besides TFFG, will he allow Alex Jones, mt Green, steve bannon, david duke and other despicables back on? I was and never will be on Twitter, and this seals it, but the impact of the disinformation and vile attacks will still impact us all. I’ll bet the crazies applauding the vicious attack on Paul Pelosi are all over twitter encouraging more attacks. I hope people cancel twitter in droves along with boycotting musk mobiles.

  12. Grandma Ada says:

Not a Twitter user, but if Musk is firing all these expensive execs, I hear Kanye is available cheap – and they seem to agree on many things.

  13. Far right Twitter users have gained followers in the last 24 hours, Obama, Rachel Maddow have lost some, presumably because more liberal users are closing accounts. A quote from the NYT on this occurrence:

“Several left-wing influencers pleaded with their followers on Twitter to stay on the website and not delete their accounts.

“If decent moderates and people on the Left keep abandoning platforms, we allow the extremist Right to own the narrative and we give the truth no voice,” John Pavlovitz, a writer and pastor, wrote to his 410,000 followers.”

Daily Kos writers — kos, Mark Sumner, Barbara Morrill, and Hunter — are doing a regular rotation of 3 or 4 updates per day on Ukraine. They include content from the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense, Twitter feeds of some high quality sources, ISW, Oryx open source intelligence, selected Russian material, and lots more.
Then there is more occasional stories from annieli, Charles Jay, and others.
In short, there is a huge amount of curated material available at that site.
