Trump’s Latest Pack of Lies
Trump sent a wild six page screed to Nancy Pelosi today raging about his well deserved impeachment, accusing her and the Dems of everything from treason to shredding the Constitution. It’s all 100% bullshit, of course, the ravings of a guilty criminal. Factcheck has posted an annotated copy of the letter, outlining all of his lies. You have to hold your nose to read the letter. The smell is overwhelmingly revolting.
You know he didn’t write it – more than 144 characters!
1We’re coming to the point of no return.
2Every f**king douchebag on the right is wallowing in their own willingness to burn everybody they see as liberal. Because we deserve it.
That’s the mindset.
The propaganda machine says so
I think I’m gonna start using Murrow’s line.
Good night and good luck.
Trump’s explanation of the “perfect call” makes sense once you accept that l’état, c’est moi. Unfortunately, the Repugs have gone all in for King Cheato the First.
3Lets not forfeit our Government just yet. Its a long walk to daylight.
Edit: Donald Trump will be indelibly stained by impeachment — and then Democrats can finish him off
By week’s end, Trump will almost assuredly become the third president in history to be impeached by the House of Representatives, a mandatory indictment of his trespasses against republican democracy. Irrespective of how things turn out in the Senate trial, the impeachment articles will record for all time that this president is “a threat to national security and the Constitution … and has acted in a manner grossly incompatible with self-governance and the rule of law.”
History will forever instruct posterity that Donald Trump “has acted in a manner contrary to his trust as President and subversive of constitutional government, to the great prejudice of the cause of law and justice, and to the manifest injury of the people of the United States.”
Every Democrat running for office next year, especially the leading candidates for president, ought to memorize the above line from Article II and repeat it during every speech, every rally, every town hall and every cable news hit. It perfectly summarizes the Trump crisis in razor-sharp prose. Every word must become burned into the minds of voters with a frequency and intensity that makes “No collusion!” look rare and forgettable.
— and yes, Trump’s chances of re-election are weaker than conventional wisdom now holds. As always, don’t get happy, but Trump is the weakest incumbent since George H.W. Bush, given how his approval poll average caps at around 42 percent nationally. His state-by-state approval polls show him trailing badly in the Electoral College as well.
Trump’s weak incumbency is further illustrated by the fact that he risked impeachment or worse in order to cheat, telegraphing his existential fear in advance of 2020. No one understands his weakness better than Trump himself.

4A diary over at Daily Kos says that trump’s lawyers were not allowed to take part in drafting it, but Stephen Miller (ick) had a big role.
5In refreshing contrast, see Pelosi’s letter to House Ds about the vote on Wed. (https://twitter.com/Phil_Mattingly/status/1207069717300744192?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw%7Ctwcamp%5Etweetembed%7Ctwterm%5E1207069717300744192&ref_url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.balloon-juice.com%2F)
They wanted to do a minimalist slam-dunk impeachment, because ‘reasons,’ and they will ultimately fail. They probably would have failed anyway with an all-out barrage, ala Nixon/Clinton, but at least more of the truth would be out.
6Pure Stephen Miller
7You know that addled old nincompoop didn’t write that; too many words of more than one syllable as well as too much ranting.
Salem Witch Hunt??? Forsoothe.
8The magic balancefairyists in the press are doing their darndest to make it sound like that childish screed is anything but an insanity-riddled bunch of chicken scratching.
Headlines such as “Trump delivers fiery response” &c.
My regional newspaper (somewhere between “far-right” and “full metal wingnut”) chose not to report on the letter at all.
9Miller wrote it? Naaah; clearly it was the work of the Resistance committee….
10James, your paper probably didn’t report on the hundreds of pro-impeachment rallies all over the country. They seem to have eluded most of the MSM. Thanks to Rachel Maddow for letting us know.
