Trump Walking the Bill

The Washington Post headlines this little item —

As a result, the District has been forced to dip into a special fund that covers annual security costs for protecting the city from terrorist threats and hosting other events such as demonstrations, state funerals and the visits of foreign dignitaries.

So that means Trump is putting everybody else at risk.  The fund for these expenses is on track to go dry in the fall.  And now that we’re turning the 4th of July into a Trump rally (anybody want to bet that there’s fireworks that spell out Trump?), it’s hit rock bottom before then.

And that’s not all.

The Huffington Post also reports —

The Trump campaign owes a total of $841,219 to cities from Burlington, Vermont, to Green Bay and Eau Claire in Wisconsin, Mesa, Arizona, and Spokane, Washington, according to invoices. The largest bill — $470,000 — was for El Paso for a February rally, including $381,000 for extra police and $61,000 for fire department services. Erie, Pennsylvania; Billings, Montana; and Tucson, Arizona, are also still waiting for payment.

Wouldn’t you think the local Republicans parties would be ashamed and pitch in to pay Trump’s bills?

Nah, me neither.

Thanks to Kary for the heads up.

  1. That’s nothing’ compared to what he owes the United States.

The 4th in DC used to be something special. Now it’s just another Trump rally. 🙁

  5. I really hope these cities that Rump has stiffed, tell him to pay-before-you-come or don’t show up.

Maybe the 4th will a Trump rally with riots and fireworks. That’s what it sounds like it could turn into.

    5
  6. is this covered in his ghost book: the art of a deal?

    6
  7. Do you remember the old Deadbeat Dad billboards, shaming a parent who wouldn’t support their own child?

Maybe we need a series of Deadbeat Prez billboards, not that he can be shamed, but it would point out he’s still not paying his bills. Then when he calls mid-sized cities to hold a rally they’ll know they should ask for their money up front.

    7
  8. elise from CA says:

Huh–didn’t red don get showered with >$100 million for his installation, by any and everyone lining up to grift from the new regime? IIRC, his inaugural fund spent only a fraction of the take on so-called entertainment and other actual expenses. Couldn’t he use those funds, unless of course they already have been siphoned off out of reach into e.g. some overseas tax haven?

  9. Cities that are Nazi enough to allow trumpster rallies should insist on receiving money upfront!

I have no pity for cities that allowed or will allow the alleged pres to befoul their premises!

    9
  10. Karen in New Mexico says:

Perhaps tRump will hold a rally in Waksom, Texas to congratulate them on declaring the town to be a sanctuary for the unborn. All of the unborn in Texas can attend and pay a gate entry fee to offset the cost to the town when rump fails to pay. When are we going to turn the conman into a convict?

  11. Start introducing bills in States and municipalities that any campaign must put deposit up front before any rally or meeting may be held.
Add that in cases of campaigns with a record of non payment to others that full cost, and generous, estimate (think way to estimate boat repairs. Calculate with generous buffer then double it and add 50%) plus 20% must be deposited at least 2 weks before any rally.
Any excess funds will be returned 90 days after the rally.
Make publicity by introducing these bills would publicize deadbeat campaigns. Make point that if they cannot pay their bills while running how can they be trusted with government budget.
A variation of the mendacious comparison of a government budget to an individuals kitchen table budgeting that thuglicans are so fond of.

    ps
Overjoyed that the progressives were not cowed by thuglicrat’s protection scam by dccc and lipinski, cuellar ( cited as doddering don’s “favorite”) and others will be held up to the ridicule and exposure of hypocricy that they have trafficed in.
Next time only progressives in charge of the dccc, dscc, and dnc.

  12. Sandridge says:

RE: That El Paso RAT45 rally some time ago, Beto O’Rourke also had one there [at the same time iirc].
Beto’s campaign paid all their bills promptly…

There are simply no more words left to describe how low and vile Trump and any Rethug who supports him are.

Like others have said, all this Trump chickenshit needs to be constantly publicized; smear him with his own feces, what could be easier? Surely the Democratic Party apparatus has/should have a special task group for this purpose? This is a war we’re in, ffs.

    12
  13. The rePUKEian aholes can’t afford to give us decent healthcare but they can afford to spend millions on BS parties!!!

    13
  14. Cities that will be “blessed” with a Trump appearence need to demand money up front or they get nothing from the city. No cops, no city owned facilities to perform in, nothing. In most cases a performance bond or Letter of Credit should be sufficient.

    14
  15. Sandridge says:

    montag, sufficient?
    1. What bonding [insurance] company would be reckless enough to bond a dead certain loser?
    2. What entity would be unfiduciary enough to agree a ‘Letter of Credit’ with one of the world’s biggest deadbeats?

    15
  16. After reading the doj’s new toilet paper about why this administration can break the law in specific in refusing to surrender the tax returns to appropiate House committees I have to wonder if it is possible to go after the law license’s and bar mmberships of these hacks.

The thug’s did this to a Penn. AG a while back so why don’t people endeavour to disbar barr and his cotorie of liars etc in the doj (plus guillani).
In guillani his statement a while back of how a lawyer would just pay off hush payments without conferring with client was obviously unethical and condemned by all. So yank his law license after all he did say he had done this so he, by his own admittance, broke his oath as a member of the bar.
As for pardon bill barr the number of crimes and ethical violations are to numorous to list here. Same thing with author of recent doj memo.
Make them spend time and energy in defending their licenses.
Create publicity of unlicensed lawyers running the doj.

    16
  17. Sandridge, I read somewhere (maybe here) that the Koch brothers are ready to shell out to get this dotard out of office. I don’t want them tainting dems, but I’d be tickled to death to see them running smear Trump ads from now until doomsday.

    17
  18. MS SHARON GREIFF says:

How strange here in Houston – When you plan any kind of event that requires city services you need to pay for the permits and police coverage before the event. Otherwise no – you can’t have it. Oh wait – that’s for the people who live here not for visiting criminals, never mind….

    18
  19. Sandridge says:

djw, good news if it’s not a diversion, the Kochs carry a lot of weight.
    .
MS SHARON GREIFF, wonder if San Antonio has the same ‘pay first’ policy. The last time RAT45 visited up there it was a private conclave at an exclusive club.
And the mayor of SA then [and now] was considered a ‘progressive lean’ pol, which caused him a bit of trouble in the recent election and runoff. Maybe SA insisted on ‘cash on the barrelhead’?
Mayor Nirenberg just squeaked by because all the local [and state] Rethugs and Xchristotaliban have been on a tear due to the city rejecting a Chick-Fil-A airport restaurant bid, plus dumping a bid for the upcoming Rethug Prez Convention.
Nirenberg’s opponent was a well-disguised teabagger type, Brockhouse, who barely lost the runoff. He had some apparent domestic abuse and child support issues, worked for the fire & police unions, and the incident police record ‘just disappeared somehow’. None of these normally fatal political faults [for a Dem] made any diff to the righteous rabid Rethugs.

  20. Sandridge:
We might have talked about this before, buy I just read a 9 month old article from the Atlantic called “The Cruelty is The Point”. It’s the best perspective I’ve seen yet on Trump’s base. And speaks to your last sentence.

    20
  21. Can’t DC just repo the White House for non-payment? That seems fair to me.

    21
  22. I don’t understand the problem. When someone shows that they don’t pay on time, the world stops giving them credit and makes them pay up front. What is different here? If a city is foolish enough, at this point, to trust tRump, then they deserve to suffer the consequences, and the citizens need to throw the tRump-trusting morons out of office. Problem solved.

    22
  23. Sandridge,
I would bet his bank of record would issue a Standby Letter of Credit fully secured by a cash account for the face amount. And in dollars, not rubles.

    23
  24. Linda Phipps says:

And yet, he brags that his fans insist that he serve beyond two terms! He is crazy.

    24
  25. Lunargent says:

I’m pretty hopeful that millions more voters will insist that Trump leave after one term, if he’s still in office by then.

A bunch of delusional creeps want to be ruled by this creature?
Fine. Let them pool their resources, go buy an island somewhere, and install him as their king. I predict a real-life reenactment of Lord of the Flies in very short order. And the world will be a better place afterward.
