Trump Really IS Self-Funding
One of Trumps major selling points leading into the primaries was his fabulous wealth, if we use “fabulous” in the mythical sense of the word. The credulous conservative cretins believed that he was worth $10 billion, and that that cash would be spent to make America something or other. But without a view behind the curtain, speculation has run to Trump having much, much less than that. And most of what he does own is tied up in things like jets, buildings, resorts and golf courses, all of which are notoriously hard to fit inside a wallet.
Still, the legend Trump was selling, the prestige (in several senses of that word) was that he would be self-funding, and so free of ALL evil corporate influences, save one: himself. Well, this part is true: Donald Trump is “self-funding,” just not in the generally recognized sense of THOSE words.
The recent FEC filing from his campaign has revealed that the biggest ticket items paid out in the last month are for things like jets, buildings, resorts and golf courses.
- Jets: over $300,000 to Trump’s TAG air
- Buildings: over $125,000 to Trump Tower
- Resorts: over $400,000 to Trump’s Mar-a-Lago
- Golf Courses: over $65,000 to Trump National and Trump International, both in Florida
There was one expenditure over $200,000 which did appear to be paid to someone other than himself. It was $208,000 for hats. Lots and Lots of Hats. Each one saying Make America Something-or-Other.
Trump is not self-funding in the sense of paying for his own campaign. He’s self-funding in the sense that he’s funding himself.
It won’t cost YOU anything, and I will make YOU rich. Line up suckers. I have some beach front property in down town Phoenix. And I will also make YOU tall and thin and blond. What could go wrong. Hard to fell sorry for any one that would buy that story. One born how often?
1For a man allegedly worth so many billions of dollars, he seems to be putting remarkably few actual greenbacks into his own campaign. Does this signal that he’s very grossly underestimated his own worth, that he’s not truly serious about running — or both?
2Drumpf is into self help. He has been helping himself to millions during this campaign and will continue to do so. Unfortunately, his supporters think this process is perfectly acceptable for a “businessman”, aka crook.
3He is begging for $100,000 from people to buy ads to attack HRC. He is cash poor and overwhelmed by debt, or so the story goes. BTW, 100k won’t buy much ad space.
4He is a con-man. He has always been a con-man. Nothing new. Nothing to see here.
5Methinks I see another bankruptcy on the near horizon.
6a) Trump isn’t spending his own money because that’s how people stay rich. He got and he gon’ keep.
b) Trump isn’t spending because he doesn’t give a rat’s butt about the GOP or actually being President. He just wants infinite amounts of air time and publicity, and he’s getting that for free.
7C) Trump ain’t spending cos Trump ain’t got.
8And now he’s begging help from the GOP, yet he refuses to support anyone else on the ticket!! We all know it’s all about hisownstupidself and no one else!!
9Marcia in CO, “yet he refuses to support anyone else on the ticket!!” That’s an image to make me salivate. Yes please! Let Donnie Drumpf help those down ticket races. He can start in Wisconsin to help Lyin’ Ryan lose his House seat.
10Yeah, and according to an article posted 10 hours ago in the L A Times, he upped the amount that he’s loaned to his campaign to $45.3 million. And from the way I understand it( from the Times, politifact, and John Oliver) all of that can be recouped. INCLUDING the money paid to his own companies???. Hmmmm.
11Now that I think about it, maybe that’s why he quit calling big money donors after 3 of them told him they’d find something better to do with their money than put it in his pocket.
12From Fortune Magazine.
“Even $4.7 million the campaign has spent on hats and T-shirts has a tie to Trump. The provider, Ace Specialties, is owned by a board member of son Eric Trump’s charitable foundation.”
13It’s a slim hope, but it’s possible that as all Trump’s shenanigans play out, t it becomes apparent to a substantial majority of the country exactly who the parasites in our society are.
Trump truly makes Reagan’s mythical Cadillac-driving “welfare queen” look like a paragon of self-sufficiency.
14I’m going to make a prediction for $208,000 worth of hats.
If you’ve ever watched the Superbowl you know how quickly members of the winning team put on World Champion hats. The hats for the losing team? They get donated to villages in Africa, where for example the Carolina Panthers will live on as the Superbowl Champs 2016 even though they lost the game.
I predict that by mid-November of this year, should you take a trip to Botswana or Tanzania you’ll find citizens of remote villages there who presumably want to “Make America Great Again.”
15That was my favorite Suess book. Doff your hat or lose your head.
16Trump is merely ‘scampaigning’ for the dupes dollars.
May he ‘pluck’ them senseless (hope I spelled that right).
Just saw the word ‘scampaigning’, don’t know if it was just coined, or has been around (perhaps since Snowflake Snooky’s time?).
17It is an absolutely perfect description of the Orange Menace’s whole lifelong career as a bullsh!t artiste and flimflam ‘man’.
Been doing alot of research on Donnie lately.
His “net worth”? Goes like this: Borrow hundreds of millions to build project. Project built. Now it’s an “asset”. All those millions in debt? Pffft!
His “self-funding” campaign? Goes like this: You give me money. Now it’s MY money. So I’m spending my money on the campaign.
Sounds sneaky and dishonest, right? Obviously you did not attend the high-end, expensive classes at Trump U.
18“The Sting 3,” with T-Rump playing all the roles.
To paraphrase Nixon, “It’s not the long con if a rich white man does it.”
19So looking forward to the country telling Trump he’s fired.
20So, if the Rethuglican PTB really, really decide that the huuuge Orange Asshowl really, really is muy toxic for all of them this year:
When will tRump’s “accident” happen? Where? How?
You know, like aircraft down, bridge collapse w/limo, elevator malfunction, etc., etc…???
Bets?
Hey, these people play real hardball. Trump’s good at screwing little people and certain investors, but the shadow Rep’s are steely-eyed real-politik artistes.
21Sandridge, I’ll bet they indulge in shenanigans of a delegate kind. First, however, they need a “white knight” to replace him.
Kasich or Ryan?
22charles r. phillips,
I think any RNC delegate shenanigans would just be too blatant, with way too many downsides.
They need a longball ‘Hail Vladmir’/Litvinenko play, and we all know how deadly Putin plays hardball… (A nice cup of Polonium-210 for you, Mr. Trump? Perhaps some special DVT-inducing schnapps for the gentleman??).
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poisoning_of_Alexander_Litvinenko
After all, Putin’s real admirers* are the very serious proto-fascist-monarchist-Dominionist wraithes who are the Rethug PowersThatBe. They’re capable of anything.
Kasich’s a failed minor Rep primary loser, no chance. Lyin’ Ryan, while his inner Pavlovian dog is salivating, is just smart enough to hang on for 2020, if…IMO
.
23*One of my kin has been/is a very extreme RWNJ (after being a youthful HSDO druggie/petty criminal and turning a 180, or would that be a 360?).
Way beyond what most of you gentle folk can imagine– his fav slogan: ‘death to libruls/faggots/POC/ragheads/whatever…’.
Yes, he has an AR-15, among others.
“C) Trump ain’t spending cos Trump ain’t got.”
he does (though not much), except it all belongs to banks or investors. in 2010, he took out a $100 million mortgage on the part of Trump Tower he still owns. he gave himself a $73 million dollar “distribution” (normally non-taxable, if you have sufficient basis), and who knows what happened to the other $37 million. presumably, the real property is collateral for the note. the bottom line: the money he got was still borrowed funds, that need to be paid back.
and that, boys and girls, is why Trump is so adamant about not releasing his tax returns, because he knows they’ll show what he doesn’t want anyone to know: he makes very little actual income, and lives high on borrowed funds, through his various companies, that he owns a majority interest in.
those returns will prove what I’ve suspected for a couple of decades: Donald Trump is among the worlds worst businessmen. he started out with a $20 million dollar inheritance, also tax free. through diligent effort and hard work, he’s managed to squander that.
if this becomes public knowledge, his whole “brand” will be ruined. who needs to pay someone thousands of dollars, to learn the secrets to losing millions of dollars? hell, I can do that just fine on my own, thank you very much!
24“What the Hell am I supposed to do with 50,000 hats that say “Make America Groan Again”!”
25Scumpf is not going to get checks from big donors because they know that money is going straight into Scumpf’s pocket to repay his loans to himself.
I always thought slugs were the slimiest things, having seen them and their slime trail up close and personal. I was wrong. That long, gooey, orange slime trail comes from Scumpf, the Slimiest of Them All!
26So…
Vice is nice, but incest is best. Trump seems to think so.
27Maybe he got some new credit cards in the mail, the gold kind.
28You keeping up with DOONESBURY? It reminds me of Trump.
