Trump back on Facebook? Just No.
Facebook’s oversight board has apparently decided on the fate of Trump’s Facebook and Instagram accounts and is going to announce the decision on Wednesday. The thought of the Orange Menace ranting again on social media sends cold chills, but based on Zuckerberg and Company’s terrible decisions in the past, it won’t surprise me a bit if they let him back on just to drive internet clicks. Of course, Facebook was right (like Twitter) to finally ban his ass way too late, especially since he violated almost every rule in the book, especially in inciting violence against the US government, Democrats, and everyone not white, obese, gun-toting, or bible thumping. I guess they finally decided to take steps after his followers attacked the US Capitol resulting in millions of dollars in damage, 200 injuries, and 5 deaths. At least Twitter’s ban is permanent.
Trump has no business with a public voice ever again, and Facebook should permanently ban him along with his entire fucking family from the platform. I won’t hold my breath, though.
Long before Twitter and FB pulled the plug on Drumpf, I left both platforms due to their toxicity. I won’t return regardless of FB’s actions. Life is too short.
1They probably will let him back on, but if the same lies and incitement happens, which no doubt will, he needs to be banned again- this time for life. I’m also not on FB or Twitter, but his posts end up being reported as “news” whether one wants to see it or not.
2Man I hope he’s tied up in court soon!
I never went on Facebook, nothing about it appealed to me. Now I’m glad I made that decision. Now if we could just get TV/radio etc. news to giving him so much air time through his surrogates.
3El Jefe, there have also been some rumbling that Ron D’oh Santis is agitating to legislate or otherwise force social media in Floriduh to accommodate the former guy and/or politicians is some license to steal or lie deal. So much for another conservative and their “free market” freedumbs.

4Politicians and diapers must be changed often, and for the same reason.

Rhonda, Rhonda, Rhonda santis- trumpf’s little puppet.
6Grandma Ada @3, yes indeed. I like kicking around the football as the saying goes, but it is time the name tRump disappears unless associated with a court of law in which the ***king moron is at the defendant’s table. Then again that standard should be applied to the Outlaw Jersey Whale, Newt, Santorum and so many more. Lordy, irrelevant has lost all meaning to the media, when the irrelevant appear all repeatedly scheduled as guests.
7@J&PKM – That solution would be straightforward, FB could just block all ISPs in Florida. The uproar would be so loud that the law would come down immediately. It’s unconstitutional anyway. Good or bad, FB is a private company, not a public utility.
8If I see anything from the Orange Blivet in my feed, I’ll just do the same thing as I do with bank and church ads-report them as “Offensive”
9After I report ads for about a day or so, they disappear from my feed for about a month.
El Jefe @8, while we don’t disagree with you as to the solution, the odds of Facebook losing revenue by blocking ISPs is highly unlikely. In normal circumstances the best solution(s) should/would come from Congress.
In the interim the tech companies have a choice between state by state battles, or ‘fessing up before Congress and working out a solution. I have no predictions. Even if the tech companies were to approach Congress in good faith, 50 Republicon Senators, plus possibly Manchin and Sinema? At best 2022?
The House is a mess. But when in the Senate Iowa and every other state most people don’t want to live in have the same amount of Senators as CA and NY, the path forward from 1776 to 2021 is not democratic, to say the least.
10Both Zuckerberg and Sandberg have never made a good decision and they never will.
11Jane and PKM: thank you for “the Outlaw Jersey Whale”. It’s a perfect little jewel that goes into my file of names. Of course it relies on being old enough to recall old Clint Eastwood films ….
I have refused to ever get an account on either Twitter or FB. From the start their terms of service had all the hallmarks of a scam – and yup, I’m someone who actually looks at TOSs. A few years ago I also read that each US FB account was worth around $180 to Zuckerberg, and I decided he was not a worthy charity. It also explained why India was a late target in FB’s schemes; each Indian account was worth some trivial amount, less than a dollar.
It doesn’t help that everytime I see a photo of Zuckerberg, he reminds me of every arrogant frat boy and business school student that sought to get some CS students to do all the work coding their great brainwave, and then rip off the people who did all the actual work.
