Today Is Primary Election Day in Texas

May 29, 2012 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Y’all, we are finally holding a primary election in Texas, barring any last minute changes by Republicans legislators.

I’m on call for fist fights, mud wrestling, or the gunfight at the Holy Mother and Blessed Child voting location.  I’ll post any good rumors I hear today and let you guys go check them out.

Hang on, Locals, and let’s get through this with as little biting as possible.

  1. We voted early. And I was shocked that I was required to show my driver’s license, because my name got flagged, according to the clerk. I asked her why? “We don’t know; just that some names got flagged.” But I’ve voted here before, I told her. Shrug. “Some names got flagged to show ID.” My husband did not have to. I couldn’t get a clear answer.

WHAT! You had to show your DL? Flagged. Honey, listen up, you need to find somebody or other in some official position and track that down. I wanna know who else got flagged. I wanna know why we have just survived the world’s longest primary campaigns and are gonna hafta wade through SIX BLANKETY BLANK more months of it. Our precincts are so screwed up that I am not even going to go into it here because it’s kind of like one of those mystery novels that you just say don’t think too hard about it….

This was the year I was going to vote in the Republican primary to have a say in who our local judges would be. That became pointless as there were no real choices offered. And picking between senate candidates Doworst, sCruz, leper and Jockstrap James is an exercise in grading something that begins with the letter S that is not statesmanship. So Uncle Dave stayed true and got to vote in two contested Democratic primary races, the presidency and U.S. senate.

  4. Uncle Dave, I got one of those obnoxious poll calls last week. First they asked me if I would vote for one of those Repub Senate Candidates – I said no. Then they asked me if I did which I would vote for…I said no to each.

I ain’t too happy with these slanted and poorly done poll questions. Sigh. Actually, I ain’t happy with about anything involving politicians or political parties, except to enjoy the Texas flavor Miss JJ puts on it.

  5. MaryK Croft, saw in the paper today that the Justice Department put a hold on requiring photo id’s for this election and wanted to be notified of any irregularities. This included Harris, Fort Bend and Jefferson counties. They were going to put some observers at polling stations. You need to report what happened to you!

We have a vested interest in you, Susan. Keep us up to date on the election results. I will need to know if I have to hold my head with one hand or two.
