Today in COVID-19

March 14, 2020 By: El Jefe Category: Coronavirus, Trump

Trump’s stream of lies from the beginning of the crisis.

France and Spain announce severe restrictions on citizens, close all stores but groceries and pharmacies.

Trump tests negative (supposedly) for the Coronavirus, halts travel from the UK and Ireland.

Italian Coronavirus cases jump by 20%.

The Alley Theatre has cancelled all performances with audiences and events through March 31.  However, they are going to livestream the new production of 1984.  Pretty cool.

The House passed a sweeping relief bill to help Americans cope with the crisis.  Trump careens from ditch to ditch like a drunk on Saturday night demonstrating he doesn’t have the slightest idea what he’s doing.

Be social and share!

I feel more secure with HEB’s continual restocking than I do his majesty’s test results. And we better have our runoff vote in May and our general election in November!

  3. Maura Hart: Thanks for that.
Before I quit calling f**king trump what I thought were snarky names, my favorite was from the Scotts.
    Weasleheaded Fucknuggett.
    Sorry momma.

I think that whoever talked him into getting tested may have actually gotten through to him, a little bit, anyway. I think he’s now scared shitless.

    As well he should be.

but I also suspect that McConnell is convinced that the needless death of a half-million additional Americans is the biggest bargaining lever he’s ever been handed, and he is determined to use it as a threat to prevent the US government from helping people who need help, and to bring home additional right-wing wank material in concessions from Pelosi.

    Here’s a thought:
Please check with your state as to the availability of absentee voting and, if they don’t allow it for the ENTIRE POPULATION start leaning on them now to make it universally available.

After all, if the states want to restrict large gatherings, and make sure people maintain social distancing, the least they can do is mail ALL ballots to voters’ homes this November.

It may be too late to make such arrangements for the primaries [though I’m betting it wouldn’t have been if they’d started back when they saw COVID heading this way] they’ve got plenty of time between now and November to get it done.

But they won’t if we don’t start screaming. Now.

    joel hanes @ 4:
You know the orange ferret-wearing weasel started being tested — even if it was against his will — the second it hit the US. Not doing it would be tantamount to treason and heads would roll if he got it and hadn’t been being tested all along.

They can’t stop him from shaking hands with all and sundry and immediately rubbing his eyes. They can’t force him to wash his hands occasionally. But any competent doctor [and there must be SOMEONE on his staff who qualifies] would see to it that testing would be done.

And OF COURSE Trump would deny he’s being tested. He would perceive it as looking like a wimp. That’s the one thing cowards are more afraid of than anything else.

Surprise, surprise, yet another high level GOP is being tested ^, perhaps due to the Covid-19 Pandemic Allegation Conference.

Yet another name for IQ4.5*: Hannibal Vector*.
Either way, it’s poetic justice for the ***ing moron*. If he* has tested negative, no one believes him*. If he’s* positive, karma has taken the first bite. Meanwhile the fucking moron* has done nothing to diminish the uncertainty surrounding COVID-19. He* can’t. That requires truth and he’s* a complete stranger to the concept. Facts, how many are infected, how many are recovering and most important when will this be contained. He* has no one he* can send out to relay the facts because anyone associated with him* is tainted. It’s really going to hurt his* precious little fee fees if the person the country relies on to hear the facts, the truth, will be Speaker Pelosi, or the two Democratic candidates, Senator sanders and VP/Sen Biden.

Donnie* meet the new king, Information. We won’t be getting ours from you*.

  10. Jane & PKM says:

Our second best defense, the first being facts, against any virus is common courtesy. Cough into your sleeve, not your hand(s). Yes, use the antiseptic wipes, but as medical providers advise every third hand “washing” use the soap and water for at least 20 seconds. Wear masks, even dust masks. No, those don’t protect ‘us’ – they somewhat protect everyone from those of us who may or may not be infected.

Just surmising here, but as data becomes slightly more available community infection is spreading because people are asymptomatic thus unaware they have a virus. Again why we recommend the masks for everyone as do the medical professionals we know. In the fwiw department they gave up shaking hands over two weeks ago.

The link provided by megasoid lists NV as having 21 confirmed infections. The same site listed that as 5 just yesterday, although our sources had mentioned 11 cases. Expect the data to become more reliable as states go it on their own and circumvent IQ4.5* and associates.

  11. Jane & PKM @10 Thanks but all the applause and fascination has to go to that kid that pulled all the data together from multiple sources world wide.

Absolutely dumbfounding what he accomplished, (tens of millions accessed his site so far).

    From Johnpavlovitz.com:

The Bill for MAGA is Due
    MARCH 12, 2020

The bill for MAGA has come due, Trump supporters.

    It’s time to pay up.

The deferred invoice for you selling your souls is here.

It’s time to pay for every incendiary campaign boast you cheered,
every factless diatribe you vigorously applauded,
every nonsensical middle-of-the-night tweet you boosted,
every dehumanizing stereotype and slur you shared,
every callous and cruel rally insult you passionately amen-ed.

Its time to pay for every denial of Scientific evidence,
    every terminated qualified conscientious objector,
every attack on factual, responsible journalism,
every vicious assault on objective reality,
    every star-spangled dog-and-pony show distraction,
    every lazy xenophobic caricature,
    every tired racist tirade.

This is how your beloved capitalism works isn’t it: someone was always going to pay for services rendered? Nothing is free, isn’t that what you’ve been saying—no handouts? Well, dig deep friend because you are on the hook for this.

Many people have been footing the bill for a long time: migrants and Muslims and transgender people, young black men, refugees, the sick and the poor, already vulnerable communities pushed all the way to the brink—and now past it.

You were paying too of course, you were just too willfully ignorant or intellectually negligent to realize it. Over and over we tried to tell you about the cost: the civil rights you were sacrificing too, the environmental protections you were losing as well as we were, the safety and security you were relinquishing alongside us. We tried to tell you that this hardship was not a partisan expense, that his moral bankruptcy would eventually hit you hard too.

But your Fox News bubble and your white Evangelical echo chamber and your America First, Don’t Tread on Me, middle-finger affinity clubs left you certain you were insulated from it all; that the only tears that would fall would be liberal ones, that the only people suffering voted for Hillary, that all of the pain would be isolated to people who vote Blue.

You felt immune from the spreading sickness. You felt invincible, because your messiah told you that you were winning and that was enough for you.

He was lying to you as he always does, but you preferred to believe the lie because it felt warm running through your veins even as it was poisoning you—the intoxicating, cheap high of making America great while owning the Libs. That was a costly drug, that arrogance—and you were slowly going broke in your addiction.

Now, in the middle of a burgeoning pandemic and a precipitous market crash and a hopelessly fractured nation, the bill is coming due.
    You can’t avoid paying anymore.
    You’re here with us.
I think even you realize that now.

This President didn’t create this virus,
    but he ignored it,
    denied it,
    minimized it,
    joked about it,
    weaponized it,
    politicized it,
    exacerbated it.

He systematically removed qualified people and replaced them with genuflecting, sycophantic traitors—or with no one at all.

He generated a steady stream of partisan attacks and conspiracy theories and abject lies created in the moment, and the kind of “I am smarter than anyone in the room” sermonizing that cult leaders bellow all the way to the terrible and tragic end.

He is culpable for the chaos and the unnecessary illness, and yes the preventable deaths because of it—and you are too.

This is the human cost of the MAGA cult delusion, and we’re all paying for it now equally, however we voted.

Pandemics don’t choose sides or spare voting blocks or respect affiliations.

He will pay for it in November and in the unflattering, incorruptible light of History.

I hope whatever you received was worth it.

I hope you still feel like you’re winning.

megasoid @11, a h/t to you for bringing his site to everyone’s attention here. And, definitely kudos to the high school teenager who has accomplished so much more than IQ4.5* and his* minions ever will.

WMDBS patrons check out Avi Schiffmann’s site and also contact his school. He deserves some extra credit there for what he has accomplished: nCoV2019.live.

Pavlovitz is always good. I hadn’t read that one yet, but its one of the best.
