Yeah. He was O’Bummer, when we thought we had options. With the clock running out, people are seeing the pile Dubya left and the Congressional obstructionists for what they are.

History will be smarter: FDR, Carter & Obama.

Barack Obama has been one class act and, despite the RKlan’s attempt to disparage him at every turn and obstruct every attempt to govern well, has emerged as one of the greatest presidents we’ve ever had.
His rising popularity can only bode well for the Democrats in the coming election.

maryelle, I agree. Before Obama was elected I had four “greatest presidents” in my personal list, and now I have five.

  4. I agree that Obama has done well with the situation he’s had. But great? I’m definitely not there. Why do you call him “great”?

  5. He’s been great at poise, humor, and keeping his cool under constant nasty attacks and almost total lack of cooperation, and lately pretty good at pushing a decent agenda, but I’m not sure I’d call him one of the greatest. Still quite good compared with recent competition, though.

    You call that competition, Rhea?

Obama looks just fine without having to drag a Drumpf lead weight around with him.

Doctors all over the world need to find a quick cure for dreaded Drumpf plague.

Was Obama great? One of the best things is that he has shouldered responsibility and ignored the vile personal attacks with a sophistication we seldom see anymore. All our national leaders should be so suave and graceful, rather than the dingalingy yahoos we have in office now. I have to admit, though, that I greatly admired the very rough-cut LBJ.

Aside from the fact that President Obama inherited the worst American economy since the Depression (thanks to you know who) and managed to stabilize the economy, save the auto industry, enforce Wall Street reform, increase jobs and establish the Consumer Protection Bureau, there might not be much else to achieve.
Except he achieved something monumental: Healthcare Reform.
The Affordable Care Act has saved millions of lives by allowing poor people to get health insurance. That alone is a gold medal accomplishment.
But we can’t stop there. Under the President’s watch, Osama bin laden was eliminated, repealed Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, reversed the Bush torture policies, improved America’s global image, removed banks from the federal student loan program which saved the Treasury billions in subsidies, imposed tough sanctions on Iran which brought them to the table and the Nuclear elimination treaty, signed the Lily Ledbetter Act which allows women to sue their employers for discrimination without a statute of limitation.
He also appointed to excellent women to the Supreme Court, Sotomayor and Kagan, and signed the New START Treaty with Russia, limiting nuclear warheads and launchers. His executive orders recently have dealt with minimum wage, overtime pay and green programs for federal agencies.
And all this while battling the most egregious obstruction and opposition from Republicans. This why I think President Obama is a great President. One more accomplishment: He was the first African American to get elected to the Presidency, twice!
