Time for Rudy to Face the Music

December 22, 2020 By: El Jefe Category: Corruption, Giuliani, Trump

Now that the election is over, the DOJ’s active investigations are coming to light.  A few weeks ago, Hunter Biden’s attorney announced that he’d been notified that Biden’s tax returns are being investigated.  More importantly (and seriously) word is leaking out that prosecutors from the Southern District of New York have “an active” investigation into Rudy Giuliani’s activities, especially his attempts to dig dirt on the Bidens in Ukraine.  They’ve already interviewed multiple witnesses including associates Lev Parnas and Igor Fruman, arrested on multiple federal charges.  Now it seems that Rudy has (or is going to) get subpoenaed for his electronic communications and financial records.  It’s unlikely Trump will pardon him before leaving office because a pardoned person loses his 5th amendment rights to those crimes and could be compelled to testify against Trump.  Looks like 2021 is not going to be a good year for Rudy.  It’s been painful to watch his slide from “America’s Mayor” to playing the role of Luca Brasi to Trump’s Vito Corleone.  We know how that script played out.

  1. Rudy Ghouliani had better start checking his shorts for Novichok before he puts them on [pull ’em straight out of the washer/dryer yourself Rudy].
The TCF and the Russian mobs aren’t going to leave any witnesses standing around for long after TSHTF.

  3. @ Sandridge: I expect Putin will leave Rudy alone – Rudy’s legal issues will cause further anger amongst the MAGA crazies. Putin likes that.

  4. I don’t think withholding a pardon is going to do Trump any good. Rudy’s not going to fall on his sword for him. It only remains to be seen what kind of deal Rudy can cut with the prosecutors. Popcorn futures should go through the roof this spring.

Rudy began that when he launched his “Noun, verb, 9/11” campaign. Didn’t have far to slide after that.
Of course, teaming up with Trump helped him complete the trip.

If I remember correctly, Rudy didn’t stand a chance at being re-elected mayor before 9-11 happened. That saved his political career–for a while. It became obvious soon enough that being in the right place at the right time and spouting platitudes was all he had, hence the “Noun, verb, 9/11” campaign. Teaming up with Trump to try to stay relevant assured his trip to the gutter where he now resides.

Boy, when they bring Lev and Igor in to testify against you, it can’t turn out well.

Rudy lost his first run for NYC mayor to David Dinkins in ‘89, and at that time, he claimed the election was stolen by illegal votes from blacks and Puerto Ricans brought in from out of state. He was a conspiracy theory nut even then and it was his training ground for his current work for Trumpf.

thatotherjean @7 … you are absolutely right that Rudy stood no chance of re-election as Mayor in 2001. he won in 1993 and 1997, and was term limited and thus out as candidate for Mayor.

He began a run in the 2000 cycle for the open Senate seat — mainly against Hillary Clinton. The race showed substantial volatility: lots of people didn’t like Hillary, lots didn’t like Rudy. In the Spring, Rudy sealed his fate: his extramarital relationship became broadly public, he and his wife separated, and then he got a diagnosis of prostate cancer. He withdrew in May, and Rep. Lazio stepped in as the presumptive candidate for the Republican party.
