Tiki Torch Tough Guy Pleads Guilty
Charles Cantwell, one of the Charlottesville Tiki Torch Tough Guys who started the violence last year during a white supremacist demonstration, pleaded guilty this week in plea bargain. He got time served in jail, and was ordered to leave Virginia and not return for 5 years. He’s the moron who was really tough during the demonstration and dissolved into tears when he realized the cops were after him for assaulting innocent counter protestors. Clearly a Trumpist.
There is a place for anger, and THIS is it.
He should have gotten at least a year on each count.
1give him time to think about what he’s done-if he’s capable of thinking, that is.
117 days in jail, plus a meager $250 fine for violating the conditions of his bond by mentioning his victims by name on social media seems incredibly light. Also doesn’t address the fact Cantwell traveled all the way from NH to VA to violate their state law(s). Makes it appear the ‘law & order’ snacilbupeR are just fine with mayhem, if it’s committed by white nationalists and other cretins. The Bundys were freed by a judge after holding LE hostage among assorted other crimes committed.
2Was he weeping from the knowledge that he was guilty of harming another, or was he crying because he got caught?
3Whatever the reason for such lachrymose, he has long since lost his standing with the hate groups he once ran with. In other words, he is persona non grata with them. He will find out exactly how much non grata he is if he ever tries to associate with them again. That may possibly be the real reason for his emotions. No one else will absorb him either. And lone wolves do not last very long. They really, really need their pack.
4He was crying because he got caught. Since he got off so lightly, he’ll continue to spread his hate in as many places as he can. All his sentence amounts to is a little slap on the wrist and the judge saying not to come back to Virginia for a few years. That won’t worry this evil creep. Plenty of other states to visit. . .
5This guy never expected to pay any consequences for his brutal behavior. Nazis got away with it, why shouldn’t he? At the core those racists are weak and afraid. That’s why they hide behind guns and fists. He should have been made an example with a stiff sentence.
6maryelle says: a stiff sentence won’t be anything like the shunning he’s probably going through, and this will haunt his life to the end of his days. Good. Harming (or trying to harm) another person or people because of their political outlook is a thing so bad I can’t even think of a word for it.
