They Have It All Figured Out
You remember how I told you about Rick Perry’s campaign treasurer, Kelcy Warren also being a $6 million contributor to Rick’s SuperPAC, and how that’s all very confusing because campaigns and SuperPACs are not supposed to coordinate?
Well, you can quit fretting about it. They have it all figured out.
“Even though he has a title with the campaign, if the campaign keeps him out of strategic planning and other decision making with regards to spending money, I think they’re going to be OK,” said Kenneth Gross, head of the political law practice at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP.
Oh really? But, there’s more: Austin Barbour is senior adviser to the three related pro-Perry super PACs. He says …
Barbour said the super PAC specifically warned Warren about the coordination rules, to make sure he understood he couldn’t discuss strategy with the campaign.
Warren was not deeply immersed in strategic decisions for either the campaign or the super PAC, Barbour added.
Okay, so the deal is this: “He just gives us money, but he’s not allowed to have an opinion.”
Cheeezzz … I’ve been looking for a man like that all my damn life.
I must be cynical. I suspect that even if if the campaign puts him deep into strategic planning and other decision making with regards to spending money, they’re going to be OK. Since when does breaking campaign finance laws result in actual consequences?
Especially in Texas.
1If he was to get into any trouble he could just pull a Walker and have a friendly judge dismiss all charges.
2“He just gives us money, but he’s not allowed to have an opinion.”
If it were a Republicon woman donating the money, that statement almost might be believable. In the Mar/Venus parallel universe, I can’t claim to completely understand women. But the GOP women? I just label them crazy and run …
3So he’s Perry’s sugar daddy?
4Rick Perry, just doing his best to keep the CON in conservative!
5I don’t know why they bother. A majority of SCOTUS doesn’t seem to give a damn who gives who how much money. Just outright auction off the government and be done with it.
6If Perry can’t count to three, how could he do strategic thinking?
7Austin is the son of Henry Barbour. Henry Barbour is Haley Barbour’s brother! Scum following in anothers scumbag’s footsteps!
“Mississippi records show that Henry and Austin Barbour, sons of Haley’s older brother Jeppie, registered as state lobbyists soon after their uncle was elected in 2003. In January 2004, Henry, who managed the gubernatorial campaign, and Austin joined Capitol Resources LLC in Jackson, which represented such big-name clients as Lorillard Tobacco Co.”

8Please send Daddy Warbucks my way ASAP!
9” Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP”? Yeah, well call my lawyer at Boyd, Dewey Cheetham and Howe LoL.
10Where can I get the kind of job? Skadden, Arps is NOT the FEC.
11Maggie, he may be Daddy Warbuck$, but he’s a Repuglican.
12Oh, please let me sit in that chair! They can pay me giga-bux and I promise NOT to talk to them at all
13You need to know that Kelcy Warren is Rick Perry’s boss. Warren gave Perry a corporate board position in his multi-billion dollar pipeline business (Energy Transfer Partners), in addition to all the other cash he is shoveling at him, just to make sure that Perry toes the line. So when Warren finds that his investment has failed to pay off (as he will when Perry crashes and burns yet again), I wonder if he will ask for his money back.
