  1. Good grief. And to make it worse, they said “their opinion”. Mixed plural and singular. I think I voted but not sure. Y’all better just vote twice to make up for it.

  2. I clicked the red button for Wendy, but nothing happened. Is it supposed to tell you that your vote is registered or something? I clicked it probably a half-dozen times.

  3. This poll will take your vote only if you are on Facebook and those other contraptions. I don’t do that stuff. Found out it was not good for me. Still would like to vote for Wendy but I guess I am shut out.

A better question is WHY Rand Paul is on the list? Edward Snowden is certainly not hero-material? Putin? Miley Cyrus??bless her herky-twerky little heart?! (see also Billy Ray)

Wendy is on that list cause she mans-up way better than most of the men in our illustrious Congress! (Not all: Bernie Sanders and Jeff Merkely do a good job! And I’m not talking about any other women here, just our Wendy!)

Mr Modi sounds like a Republican: doing a lot for the money and not so much for his people. Al-Assad is NOT a hero; so Wendy’s first real competition is another lady, a very talented author, one who has demonstrated new ways of using the short-story format.

Wendy is the second decent choice on that list! Excepting Ms Munro, the others ahead of her have achieved notoriety, that’s all.

  5. It’s not about who is good – just influential. Hitler won back in the day. Example – the Koch brothers vs. Crybaby Boehner – Boehner has NO influence, so Koch.

I logged in with Facebook and it let me vote EXCEPT for Wendy vs. Rand Paul and one other. Odd.

  6. Marion (formerly known as MM) says:

    Aggieland Liz.
Ed Snowden is one of my all time heros. At great sacrifice and long term risk to himself and with, hopefully, many years of his life still to lead, he showed us how deep the US government surveillance of ordinary citizens goes. Fortunately, it started a national conversation about ordinary citizens being under such totalitarian-like surveillance.

  7. Time’s “Person” of the Year is supposed to be the one who most affected the news that year.

It would seem that Snowden nails that criterion. Wendy might get it next year–if she wins the Governship and does it in a landslide, especially if there is a whole of other women getting elected. Or, a Dem landslide.

  8. Marge Wood says:

If it can be bad guys, I think it should be the Koch brothers. But they would think it was cool. Maybe.

  9. Here’s some good news/bad news from Nashville: a racist State Trooper who refused to allow Tennessee’s only black female appellate judge enter the state supreme court building is no longer on the job. The bad news is that,

    a) He was allowed to retire, instead of getting his butt FIRED.
    b) He was reprimanded in 2009 for sending racist emails;
    3) This current incident with the appellate judge happened waaay back in June and this is the first anyone is hearing about it.

It seems in Tennessee, the bad news outweighs the good news.

  10. Rand Paul holds a national office and Wendy holds a state one, but he’s leading her by only 0.4%. Not too shabby, if you ask me….(Yeah, in the straight-up Rand-vs.-Wendy poll, he’s way ahead, but still…)

  11. Polite Kool Marxist says:

Sure is curious as to why folks would vote for the plagiarist blind optic Rand Paul. Maybe they were his former patients, so they erroneously marked their ballots?

    11
  12. I agree with Maggie. I was going to vote and then found out I had to give them access to my Facebook page and my friend list. I don’t mind if anyone sees my Facebook page, but I’m not passing out the names of my friends to some anonymous group for whatever their purpose is.

    12
  13. Like Maggie, I was shut out because I’m not registered with Facebook or Twitter. Who decided to let only those people who are, vote on this decision? IT WAS THE REPUBLICANS, WASN’T IT?

    13
  14. Wendy is way ahead however MILEY CYRUS is Number 1. good lord I’m going to have to start my Thanksgiving Day drinking now.

    14
  15. Ralph Wiggam says:

This is Time Magazine, not Encyclopedia Britannica. In my opinion, Time Magazine has less credibility than Mad Magazine. The person they pick will be the one who best serves their advertising purposes. That’s what this is all about, advertising Time Magazine. That’s all.

  16. e platypus onion says:

Southern Beale-I’m not a gambler but I’m gonna go out on a limb and suggest the trooper in question is most likely of the rethuglican persuasion(probably leaning t-bag). Thank you for the article. I can use it elsewhere to good effect. 🙂 Some small iowa towns still refuse to seat women in government. Lily white Iowa.Who knew.

    16
  17. Wendy is now surging ahead of Paul, but Miley Cyrus at #1 makes this poll ridiculous.

    17
  18. Jeff in PA says:

It might be a ridiculous poll but I love the fact that that the numbers between Paul and Davis did a 180 within one day.
That shows the power and influence of the Worlds Most Dangerous Beauty Salon.
