The Supremes

March 16, 2016 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Poor Senate Republicans.  Not only do they face the prospect that 2 of the 3 men left running for their Party’s nomination are a choice between a guy they all hate and a guy who’s Donald Trump, but this morning they wake up to  —

President Barack Obama will announce his nomination for the Supreme Court today at 11:00 DeeCee time.

And odds are pretty good that it’s gonna be a highly qualified minority.  Wrong!

And from all anybody can tell, he’s a moderate.

Next up: Senate Republicans incidence of work-related self-injuries exceed the national average.

Be social and share!

Kasich is a very, very, scary dark horse. And Paul lying Ryan is a Opus Rei type like Cruz…women will be less than chattel, forced birthers (all that poverty and Mother T was not for birth control–sigh) and dying in alleyways from illegal unsafe abortions…I have three granddaughters so far, and they deserve the freedom to make their own choices and use birth control (I used four kinds and had four pregnancies–it’s a real concern in my family line) none of these horrible humans should be close to power–they want it too much and are “true believers”.

Several news services are announcing it’s Merrick Garland….

  3. Hmmm. Not a bad pick. There are critters in Congress who will hear the last name and only think “Judy”. That could help him. Also, he looks like the majority of the men on The Hill. That could help him. My fav was Sri Srinivasan. He would have been the first one of Asian descent on the Court. But, oh my stars and garters! The Hill critters not too long ago went through the pillars of Hell with a female with a non-WASP last name and was of non-WASP descent! Land sakes, they couldn’t be so cruel to themselves to go through all that again! Tsk! Tsk!

  4. Kasich, Cruz and maybe Ryan! What the bleep did we do to deserve this? Oh,yeah. Uh huh. That candidate the R’s tRumped up!

You know, the good thing about the GOP these days is they have plenty of guns, so shooting themselves in the foot has never been easier.

  6. We may well view this nomination, Merrick Garland, as a point of brilliance on the part of our President and his kitchen cabinet, to wit:

    – Garland has impressive intellectual paper trail
    – Garland clerked for Justice Brennan
    – Clinton 42 nominated Garland to the D.C. appellate court

I recollect Garland’s name being bandied about in 2010 before the President nominated Justice Kagan.

I’m thinking this is the nominee with whom the Dem nominee can beat the snacilbupeR bloody if they don’t move on the nomination soon.

  7. Ruth Marcus in the WashPost points out how much more respect Robert Bork got from the Senate than anyone Obama could nominate:

Obie has outsmarted wingnuts some more. They were backed up against the wall, hackles raised, snarling for the whole world to see and just waiting to pounce on the sacrificial lamb and tear it to bits. Master Obie sends them a female in heat instead. Now they are all fighting and tearing each other apart to be the first to protect the nominees honor.

Wingnuts got Obied again and forced to like it.

  9. Polite Kool Marxist says:

e platypus onion, send in the smelling salts. Mitch McTurtle and Chuck Grassley, while having been knocked unconscious by the Great Obie are still moving their lips. Hope they take down many snacilbupeR Senate candidates with them.

    9
  10. EPO, could you explain what you mean by “female in heat” as you described Merrick Garland? Were you describing an “aggressive” choice?

    10
  11. e platypus onion says:

I was describing a choice wingnuts had already said would be easily confirmed by both sides. They loved this guy yesterday and all the days leading up yo Obama announcing him. They can’t very well savage him as they have been suggesting they would do to any nominee.

No offense was intended to any women or the nominee. It is just the way it popped into my head. 🙂

Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT), the longest serving Republican on the Senate Judiciary Committee, offered his own thoughts on who President Obama should nominate to fill the seat left open by the death of Justice Antonin Scalia last week. “[Obama] could easily name Merrick Garland, who is a fine man,” Hatch told the conservative news site Newsmax, before adding that “he probably won’t do that because this appointment is about the election. So I’m pretty sure he’ll name someone the [liberal Democratic base] wants.”

Wait a minute, wasn’t Merrick the ELEPHANT MAN? 🙂

We shoulf blame this on Nancy Reagan. Didn’t she start that “Just Say No” campaign?

  13. Auntie BFly says:

In a world of thinking, reading, reasoning, conscious voters, this would be the President’s most awesome volley: giving the snacilbupeR lay-abouts the gun that they so love, with which to shoot themselves, repeatedly, in the foot. I wish I could share y’all’s joy. But there’s more and more evidence that this has nothing to do with thinking, reason, reading, or consciousness. When 40+ percent of GOP primary voters vote for a man who utterly defies reason and logic (and the rest vote for men I can’t describe or momma will get the soap), in primaries where we’re seeing record turnout, I can’t. I fear that this will be the ultimate embarrassment for the US: President nominates an impeccably credentialed jurist to SCOTUS, Senate refuses to consider, US mindlessly votes for snacilbupeRs who advocate meanness, violence, and the antithesis of reason.
OK, I’m done, gonna go hunt for wine and my happy pills…

I’m so glad I don’t work in the offices of the Supremes. I guess you can learn to be polite to anyone.

  16. I got it epo. Wild male animals will fight, sometimes to the death, to breed a female of their species. The urge is even stronger when they are aware of and in the proximity of, a female in estrus, also known as “heat.” This has absolutely nothing, zero, to do with girls and women. I am a raging feminist, but once in a while we can be a little too sensitive.

    Okey dokey?

Auntie BFly, I’ll join you in the wine and happy pills. It’s going to take a lot of both to get to election day, and it will take triple doses of both to get through election day. I read the text of Obama’s nomination speech, which was wonderfully eloquent, while still jabbing at the snacilbupeR, and I miss him already.

Oh, epo, I was not implying that you said anything offensive. On the contrary, I just didn’t understand what you meant. Since I think your comments are always on point, I just wanted to make sure I grasped what you were saying.
Thanks for your ‘splainin’ and also Debbo’s animal behavior lesson. I learn something new here everyday.

Thank you,Maryelle, I amost thought I got on the wrong blog. Even my Merrick/elephant man/ Rethuglican bit slipped through the cracks. All better,I hope.

Wingnuts are gonna savage their man, anyway. They can’t help but eat their own.
