The Republican Party of Texas
The Republican Party of Texas is buying books – lotsa books. That is problematic because apparently there are no book stores in Texas. They had to go all the way to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to buy books.
They are giving those books away to “party supporters.”
Alfredo over at the Dairy Queen spent some time with us this morning wondering whose book they’re buying. We figured that Dan Crenshaw and Ted Cruz both had books out long enough to be in the $2 range. But, please don’t forget that Texas Ted, Vol. II is still on a bookshelf somewhere because we know that Amazon will sell it to you. Vol. II wraps up those loose ends about the Kennedy Assassination that were left dangling in Vol. I.
If we hear whose books they bought, we’ll let you know. Meanwhile, let your imagination go wild.
Is there such a thing as a Texas Republican bookstore owner? I can’t picture it myself; but, if there is such a person he/she should be awfully mad at the Texas GQP for buying out of state.
1Wow.
2JJ, hopefully you’ll forgive me, but I had to go to Amazon to verify that that was legit. Cause it had a purty powerful Onion vibe goin on when I saw it.
Funny thing. The illustration on Amazon has better clarity when enlarged. And something caught my eye. After looking for hidden items on the cover, the way you do when looking at art work designed for pediatricians’ waiting rooms, the publisher’s logo on the lower left corner caught my eye.
Now maybe it wouldn’t have if the subject of the book wasn’t such a f**king douchebag. (Sorry Mama).
Or, more to the point, such a gianormous dick
But there it is, and once seen, well, it just can’t be unseen.
So I felt compelled to investigate.
Was that really the publisher’s logo?
Googling Really Big Coloring Books logo and choosing images did in fact reveal one image of that logo, so that checked out. But when looking for a second confirmation I ran across something probably unrelated, since I didn’t see a connection to the publishing company, but still.
Sorry, I hadn’t copied the link and didn’t want to risk losing what I had thumb-typed.

Now far be it from me to suggest that maybe somebody involved in the artistic process might not be a fan of Ted’s, but…. I don’t know.
3Maybe it’s just me.
I’m sure Ted’s book is more along the lines of The Big Book of Coloring Chickens!
4So sorry, I meant to say Rafael’s book. And, I always thought it was spelled Raphael, WTF! Can’t wait to see him in the rear-view mirror of history however he spells it. I will always spell it Traitor.
5P.P., I went to that link you just posted. Whoa! Rather startling to say the least. I was tempted to type in the website at the bottom of the cover page out of curiosity, but I was afraid where it would lead me, and I really don’t want to get on the mailing list that might put me on.
6Who are they buying books for? Most of their base is functionally illiterate.
7There was a great cartoon of the trumpf puppet crooze in the Washington Post Sunday. I tried to copy it here but couldn’t get it to go. Anyway, if you see the WP you can’t miss it.
8@Mike #7,
Just cause you are illiterate doesn’t mean you don’t want books on your bookshelf in zoom meetings.
But, these party gifts may not be books. Bookstores sell more than books these days.
Seriously, I already see pundits with bookshelf backgrounds that often have same book multiple times–and that is for left-leaning pundits. For many it is the appearance/promotion more than something to read.
9I wuz gonna buy the coloring books for a Big Red and Green Holiday in December gift for Louie Gohmert, since he don’t read too good. Then I remembered…..he can’t color inside the lines either.
10The new trump “book” containing many pictures and captions, “some in his own handwriting,” is due to be released/escape next month. At $74.99 ($229.99 autographed) it will burn through that $5,250 in no time. (Donnie Jr is the publisher because even Regnery didn’t want it.) You can be sure all the pictures were made by the official White House photographer, at public expense. The perfect grift, uh, gift this special season.
