The Only Shock Was That He Hadn’t Done It Already
So here ya go —
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott says he has authorized the adjutant general of the Texas National Guard to arm Guardsmen at military facilities across Texas.
Abbott joins governors in Florida and Louisiana in the call to arm Guardsmen after a gunman attacked a recruiting center and a Marine-Navy reserve facility in Chattanooga earlier this week.
Well, good luck with that, Governor. Have you told the crazy Jade Helm people about this?

8Arming people doesn’t help much when they are taken by surprise by an attacker who has a lot of fire power available. The victims in the Chattanooga attack were Marines and Navy.
9If I see Texas National Guardspersons hanging around outside a USMC recruiting station toting guns…I may just have to curl up and die. Or go crazy and run at them yelling “No, no, no” and be shot by someone who probably did not make Expert Marksman.
Or are they just going to guard *their* military facilities.
I swear these armchair generals are just dying to get their hands on a military unit they can make go do things because if they are *commanding soldiers* by God and all angels, then they have Da Power.
And we get to pay for it. That’s the other thing.
10Kudos to LynnN again! When the hell do we stop with the “more guns are the answer to gun violence” philosophy? Could all of the rabid gun nuts just please pick one state, move there, secede from the United States, and go about systematically killing each other, either accidentally or otherwise? Please? I’ll vote for that.
11Ok y’all take a breath. The NATIONAL guard is a reserve unit of the U.S. Army. They actually train and have experience w weapons, etc. Several units were sent to Iraq by Dubya, including some from Texas. Please DO NOT confuse with the Texas STATE Guard, Gov Abbott’s little group of yahoos and wannabes that are “monitoring” the U.S. Armed forces that are conducting the Jade Helm 15 exercises. And Abbott’s authorizing the Natl Guardsmen to be armed is not his original idea; he is playing follow the leader after about 6 other Govs decided to arm their Guardsmen in the wake of the Chatanooga terror attack that killed 5.
12Guns here, guns there, guns everywhere! Now if someone would just tell us how to distinguish who are the bad guys and who are the good guys, we’d be all set. This will not end well.
13Yeah, the TEXAS ARMY NATIONAL GUARD..from the Houston area right now is armed, dug in, and are not in Texas, but in Egypt..for about a year… .
As for Abbott, he is as deranged as our Baldo here in FL.. Remember, here we have concealed carry, and getting guns for those who have mental issues isn’t difficult. In fact, anyone can easily get a gun here…during gun shows.
What worries me is that some of the ‘militia’ there decides that one of the ‘armed HumVees’ is up to no good and opens fire and kills an HONEST active duty military person.. Oh, for the record, Jade Helm is also going on in FL…no big deal, we always have maneuvers going on.. After all joint training is done here almost year round…and we still haven’t had to ‘register’. Even our governator, so far, hasn’t followed in your governor’s footsteps.
14Not to quibble Grannygrey, but I thought Baldo HAD authorized the arming of the FLA Guardsmen? If you mean he hasn’t sicced his own lil’ two bit operation onto the Army to “monitor them” however…Abbott’s a putz!
15Aggieland Liz, ah..Baldo just moved the NG recruiting offices (6) of them in the state, to the nearest Guard Armory and told the Guard they could carry weapons if the wished. BUT..nah, he leaves the military alone…got to admit he isn’t as dumb as Abbott…As to what he actually is: well….we are hoping for a DNA sample to check for alien DNA. HE HAS TO HAVE SOME..OR he is a really well designed android!
