  1. Me, too, JJ.

  2. Hmmm. I tried. Sad, yes. Bitter? Well, no. Can’t help stratagizing. Guess I was born to do that. Looking at the holes in the Republican agenda and the best way to deal with them. Gotta go Matthew 25. The worst off in this country will be the first ones to feel the GOP harpoon through the middle. What is done for them rather than to them will make a helluva difference.

  3. Wish I could agree with you Maggie. However, the righteous right believes that those “Least among you” folks are there because of their lazy laggardness. And, unfortunately, the “least” too often do not vote. We are in the midst of a hateful, vengeful society, angry that that “different” person has usurped the White House these past six years. Just visit any news site – and I don’t just mean the right wing bloviators – and read the comments. The condescension and hubris is stunning. I don’t see changes in the near future. It will happen, but there is a lot of destruction necessary for the general population to wake up. I’m not a whiner, but I am discouraged.

The one with Ted Cruz sporting a Bela Lugosi look works for me.

  6. Here’s an editorial from the Detroit Free Press:

Many of us Canadians are confused by the U.S. midterm elections. Consider, right now in America, corporate profits are at record highs, the country’s adding 200,000 jobs per month, unemployment is below 6%, U.S. gross national product growth is the best of the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) countries. The dollar is at its strongest levels in years, the stock market is near record highs, gasoline prices are falling, there’s no inflation, interest rates are the lowest in 30 years, U.S. oil imports are declining, U.S. oil production is rapidly increasing, the deficit is rapidly declining, and the wealthy are still making astonishing amounts of money.

America is leading the world once again and respected internationally — in sharp contrast to the Bush years. Obama brought soldiers home from Iraq and killed Osama bin Laden.

So, Americans vote for the party that got you into the mess that Obama just dug you out of? This defies reason.

When you are done with Obama, could you send him our way?

    Makes you wonder, doesn’t it?

  7. TalG: My sentiments exactly. The rwnj’s who came out in droves to vote against the President thought they were making a statement about gay marriage, abortion and contraception and Obamacare. Wait til they see their darlings trying to privatize social security, abolish affordable healthcare, sending our kids to fight in Iraq once again, and ignoring the crumbling infrastructure as well as climate change and immigration reform. How myopic, misogynist, racist and ignorant these “proud Americans” are. They make me sick at heart.

This should make every decent liberal smile because we know we have truth on our side.

  9. Marge Wood says:

Conservatism isn’t wrong per se. Neither is liberalism. Or even radicalism. Maybe we need to turn that on its head and say “Here’s what we see as problems. What are some possible solutions?” instead of saying “I’m right, you’re wrong, nyah nyah nyah.” Seems like some of all of them might do good. Thanks for the vanity fair article.

Focus, Texas, focus, please. One hill at at time, maybe two. How about concentrating on removing two of your speed bumps in 2016, Daffy Cruz, Jr. and Loopy Louie? Please!?!

I wish people who don’t vote were the only ones affected by what will be happening.

I like the Ted Cruz one–maybe the Repugs won’t get much done after all…house divided and all that…
And TaIG–that article is priceless! It helps me to see that my worldview and other’s outside my circle are the same…thanks for the gift!

PKM, unfortunately we are stuck with Rafael ‘Ted” Cruz until 2019. Hopefully by then, there will be enough people in Texas thoroughly fed up and disgusted with him to vote him out of office. Unfortunately, that’s more than enough time for him to royally screw things up. I still can’t understand how he got enough votes to win the election in 2012, but at least he beat David Dewhurst in the primary.
