The Common Thread that Runs Through the Kavanaugh SCOTUS Nom – Sex

September 22, 2018 By: El Jefe Category: Dumpster Fire, SCOTUS

Anyone paying attention knows that SCOTUS nominee Brett Kavanaugh is a radical partisan activist who’s main job has been installing radical partisans in judicial positions throughout the federal court system.  We also know the he lives on the teetering far right edge of judicial thought, supporting a totalitarian executive branch (only if a Republican is running that branch).  The character trait that is emerging, though, is one that many male politicians own, and that is obsession with sex.  His radical obsession with controlling women’s healthcare decisions to keeping them subjugated to unfair employment and pay practices, his singular focus on dominating the female members of our society is clear.  But apparently it’s worse than that.  Not only is he all of the above, apparently he’s a real shitbag.  Dr. Blasey Ford’s charges of attempted rape are credible (especially since Kavanaugh’s male friends have sudden cases of amnesia), but now the pattern of his misogyny is becoming more clear.

But before we talk about new revelations about Kavanaugh, let’s talk about his spokesman who has been carefully crafting the messaging about his image to the press.  Said spokesman’s name is Garrett Ventry, who is (was) a communications aide to the Senate Judiciary Committee and chair, Chuck Grassley.  Well, Garrett was shown the door yesterday after NBC News started asking questions about allegations about…wait for it…sexual harassment made by female staff when he worked for the North Carolina House Majority leader at the North Carolina General Assembly.  Not only were there allegations against him about sexual harassment, he also apparently “embellished” his resume.  He was canned from that job.  Nice.

Anyhoo, back to Kavanaugh.  Late this week, stories started emerging about how Kavanaugh insists that his female clerks “look like models” and now the Dean of Yale Law has called allegations about a faculty member grooming female candidates’ appearance for clerkships in Kavanaugh’s office “…of enormous concern to me and to the School.”

GOP Senators have leapt to Kavanaugh’s defense, saying that if he really was a sexual predator that the pattern of behavior would have followed him throughout his career.  Apparently, it has.

Boy, Republicans sure can pick ’em.

  1. OMG, they are stooopid! Ford has been given an extension as all this slime leaks out. Fingers crossed on this one.

  2. The Yale female law clerks needing to have a certain “model look” seems easy enough to prove or disprove. It is a small group of individuals and it is public information. Let’s put their pictures up together and we can easily see if they have a certain look or not. Easy-peasy.

  3. @Mark Johnson

I knew a Mark Johnson a few years ago in McKinney Texas. One in the same?

    3
  4. I’d be interested to hear what these “model like” female clerks have to say. I hope some of them speak up. I wonder if they had to sign non-disclosure agreements.

  5. Buttermilk Sky says:

“But I was first in my class at Harvard Law!” “Sorry, but you’re a five at best.”

  6. Republican men with kinks in their underwear are nothing new. Being obsessed with sex is part of their misogynist DNA. I think they are either a) sexually repressed or b) closeted or c) both.

Remember how Ken Starr of Whitewater, Clinton impeachment fame obsessed about Clinton’s sexual proclivities and encounters? Voyeurism by legal inquiry.

    6
  7. Agreement on what constitutes an offense is the first step.
It appears that according to the thuglicans sexual assault can only describe a person after the rape has occurred and if the person wants to be believed they had better be bloody and bruise otherwise it is just morning after regrets.
Exceptions to this would be if a person of color even looks at a “white” woman or if a gay male says good day to a straight bigot.
Same thing on so many issues. It isn’t racism unless the n word is used and the one using it admits that it is meant as a racial disparagement, if just what they learned as a child well no harm no foul.
Employment law would “require” the owner/hr person telling someone they are not being hired because of age/sex/ethnicity/religion anything less would not “prove” that bad action had occurred.
So on Senate panel even before discussion starts the D’s must get the R’s to either agree that what has been described is sexual assault or not.
They should also try to get the r’s to say whether they are going to give kavanaugh a “mulligan” on his youthful indiscretions ( like the twits coke habit into his 30’s or henry hydes affairs in his 50’s dismissed as “youthful” indiscretions)
Then ask who qualifies for such mulligans for youthful indiscretions?
Obviously not Trayvon who was smeared after his death, or 13 year old executed on the playground by gun nut cop, or Michael Brown whose murder was “justified” by post execution conjecture.
First step in winning any debate is getting an agreement of ones definitions.
No agreement and the r’s can claim that, according to their terms, no crime/offense/ insult has been committed because the perpetuator didn’t “mean” to be offensive.
Chris Rock had it right when he pointed out that by their own lights everyone is doing good. Even the nazi’s and stalin’s executioners beleived they were doing good. No matter how repulsive the rest of humanity may see them.
So an agreed upon definition is necessary before engagement.

  8. Amen. One of the the things I read long ago said R’s stop having sex way before D’s do—and there are be few gloriously radiant looking sexually fulfilled women on the R side. Takes someone who’s actually interested in you for a woman to get that effect.
Obsessed because they are dysfunctional (no fun in it!) so don’t get the release (intimately being seen) that is part of a good relationship. Not valued. Just another “thing” to own.

  9. Kavanaugh was tasked to write questions by Ken Starr and you should see some of his doozies~

Very intimate, personal, highly inappropriate questions.

The Repiggery males do seem highly repressed/jealous/WTF about sex and controlling women~

  10. van heldorf says:

Let me understand the repubs’ reasoning per El Jefe’s story; if a person goes into a bank and up to a teller, pulls a gun demanding a certain amount of moneys without first filling out a withdrawal slip, puts said moneys into a handy plastic grocery bag, turns and starts to exit only to inadvertently trip dropping said bag onto the floor but makes a successful exit of the bank sans the bag, will this person be then pursued? Why? Didn’t he fail to complete a successful robbery? Isn’t he owed a do-over?
Seems, as I have read, if kavanaugh had fessed up to a youthful indiscretion, which most of us have committed in our youth, IMO, apologized, this probably would have been overlooked enough to move on with the voting.
Is not one of the signs of a narcissistic conservative an inability to ever admit fault?

  11. I hate those guys.

I don’t hate many people, but those misogynist !@##$$!×÷#$*#! who sit on that committee looking smug . . . I would like to kick their balls (if they have any) up to their teeth.

[Please know, gentlemen of TWMDBS, I have only the kindest of feelings toward you.]

  12. Donnie picks the best; just ask him. Another of his circle of misogynists, Jason Miller: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/politics/court-docs-allege-ex-trump-staffer-drugged-woman-he-got-pregnant-with-abortion-pill/ar-AAAsSNi?ocid=spartanntp

Debbo, Grassley and Hatch could redeem themselves a touch by apologizing to Professor Anita Hill, impeaching Clarence Thomas from his cushy chair at SCOTUS, then show their remorse by granting Dr. Christine Blasey* the Senate hearing she deserves, at a time convenient to she and her attorneys, after the FBI has had the opportunity to nudge the memories of Koat Hangar Kavanaugh and his pals.

*Dr. Blasey is her preferred form of address. Pundits and Senators could get that correct with a little effort, if they cared. Ford is her married name for family and friend. Gaslight Grassley and ‘orrible ‘atch aren’t there yet.

    12
  13. Thuglican grassley PR aide to judicial starr court forced out because of sexual assault at previous position for thuglican congress critter.
But don’t worry the thuglicans won’t try to smear Dr. Blasey.
Yeah right and I have a bridge in Brooklyn I can give you a good price on.

    13
  14. While Beto joins Willie Nelson to play a few tunes, I thought, who would Kavanaugh get on stage with were he a musician, or if he fantasized he’s the lead singer of a band, while he sorts through files of potential clerks and other staff?

I think he might see himself covering the smooth stylings of Robert Palmer, with the all important, personally chosen backups:

  15. @Micr, not the same. Sadly very common name for men my age (50s). I live in a smallish town and there are 7 Mark Johnsons, three of us have the same middle name as well. One of them gets arrested about once a year and every time his name appears in the local paper crime report the phone rings off the hook.

    15
  16. Rick –
I think Ted Nugent. Another prince of a guy who gets off on abusing teenaged girls.

    16
  17. There is now a second woman accusing him and apparently a story in the New Yorker.

    17
  18. Not original with me, but it seems most likely that anyone the R’s appoint at the moment is guaranteed to be awful.

The R’s require someone who is ‘ideologically reliable’, and won’t cave in towards justice when the full details of DJT’s perfidy become actual legal problems as the fecal aggregate impacts the rotating legal blades. That requires someone who is himself fundamentally bad, and almost certainly morally compromised or handicapped.
