Tax Cut! Tax Cut!
So Trump is proposing a payroll tax cut that would continue through the rest of year. Payroll taxes are what fund social security and Medicare.
First of all, do not even think about screwing with my Medicare.
Second, I have to agree with Customer Ralph when he says …
I am so glad that our President proposed a tax cut to combat the Corona Virus. Doctors and some really smart people are saying that viruses are very sensitive to tax policy.
Thanks to Ralph for the heads up.
Our best hope is that the virus will act like a pro sports team and leave town if it doesn’t get a tax break and a new stadium.
1it will be so helpful to have taxes lessoned on paychecks that don’t exist when a person has to stay home sick and gets no money at all for that period as they have no paid sick leave
2It’s been pointed out that for people with service industry jobs and no pay for sick leave, or anyone who loses a job during an economic downturn, not paying taxes won’t help them. They don’t have an income.
But Trump wouldn’t know that. He doesn’t pay taxes with or without an income.
3So many waiters only make a couple dollars an hour, thanks to Herman Cain, that anything they get won’t be enough. I think Ralph #1 has it right, just leave ASAP! And Ms. JJ, I’m with you – don’t mess with Medicare/SS. Take it out of his majesty’s wall building money!
4This just shows what devious snakes [apologies to sneks] the Rethugs are.
They are always 100% focused on their longterm goals, would that the Dems be so. Some of which [always] are gutting our ‘social safety net’, of which SS, Medicare, Medicaid, etc., are vital components.
This move is even ‘better’ and more insidious, from their viewpoint, than some ‘Catfood Commissions’ that have been bipartisanly pushed in the past.
How about we roll back a big chunk of the 2017 Rump 1%er tax cuts, add a few surcharge taxes, and allocate the proceeds to the good of the nation?
5Sandridge #5 – That’s much too logical EVER to pass Congress.
6Republican health care plan: Die Faster!
7Trump told Republican senators in a meeting Tuesday he would like to waive the payroll tax entirely through the end of the year, or even permanently suspend it, one attendee told Reuters.
If approved by Congress, the move would result in a massive, roughly $1 trillion dollar cash injection into the pockets of workers and businesses over the rest of the year, based on a Congressional Budget Office estimate http://www.cbo.gov/topics/taxes of current projected federal tax revenue.
It would also mean “you’ve blown a trillion dollar hole” in the trust funds that pay Social Security benefits for retirees and help fund the Medicare health care program for Americans over age 65, said Howard Gleckman, a senior fellow at the Tax Policy Center. “What do you do about that?”
8If His Heinous had really wanted to do something both useful to the working class and also help mitigate the spread of the virus, he would have told the Rethugs in the Senate to pass Sen. Murray’s bill granting paid sick leave to everybody during this emergency.
However, Lamar (!) Alexander put the kibosh on that today–because it would fall to the Federal Government to pay for it. And, this guy has already announced that he is retiring at the end of this year. Still isn’t enough to make him do the right thing. I hope he gets sick from Covid-19 and dies. Would serve him right.
9Forget about him shooting someone on Fifth Ave. He doesn’t need to do that. Weaponizing the work force by removing that tidbit tax will mean the end of SS that you paid into all your working lives and Medicare for none.
10When Republicons suspend their pay and benefits, those of the IQ4.5* cabinet and maladministration and place a freeze on all overtime for Secret Service junkets to Merde-duh-Blowhole and any place where Donnie’s* 3 ‘adult’ children are self dealing on our dime, then this soap is serious.
Republicons always want to know how we will pay for things. That can begin with those in Congress tightening their belt before we start thinking about tightening a few nooses. Bailouts? How about rewarding those companies that provide for their workers with a living wage, sick leave and other western world benefits. Then fine the soap out of companies who leave it to the taxpayers to support their employees.
Remember corporate good citizens? It wasn’t that long ago, when students with potential could apply for a decent/adequate supply of scholarship monies and not rely on student loans.
11When Trump drives America into bankruptcy with his casino style expenditures and budgets, I’d prefer Canada buys us on the auction block. But if Mexico is in the bidding, it would cast an ironic pall over the proceedings.
Definitely hope Russia stays out of it.
12Rick @12:
13Since f**king trump’s campaign in 2015/16 when I and some others started comparing our situation with Germany in the ’30s, I’ve felt like some of us were more pessimistic about our outlook than most.
@12 is something I shoulda written.
Hey Grandma! Take it out of the wall? You mean the wall he stole money from the Military budget to put into the wall? Ya mean Fort Bragg in NC??
