Colbert was on a roll last night, mocking His Orangeness for his latest idiocy of demanding a huge military parade to honor himself.  Calling him the “Usain Bolt of stupid,” Colbert said that Trump was his own competition for idiotic ideas.  He also advised Trump to ignore his attorneys and take on Robert Mueller.  It’s was pretty entertaining.  Have look:

Yesterday, the Trump administration announced that it would like to guarantee an Ebola outbreak in the US this year.  As we all know, Ebola is a highly contagious and deadly disease.  During the last African outbreak, the US lead the way with other OECD countries to fund prevention, treatment, and screening at the source to protect our own shores.  We only had one actual case of Ebola and a couple of American doctors treated here who had contracted the disease in Africa.

Welp, ol’ Trumpie thinks all that disease prevention stuff is a waste of money, and to make it easier for Ebola to reach our shores next time, he’s just slashed 80 PERCENT of disease outbreak prevention spending from the CDC’s budget.  Isn’t that just a fine idea?  Yeah, I think the same thing.

MAKE AMERICA SICK AGAIN!

The New Yorker has published a depressing piece by Evan Osnos, about how Trump has stupidly ceded global leadership and how China has rushed in to fill the vacuum.  Trump can very likely become our version of Gorbachev, who, you will recall, oversaw the unraveling of the Soviet Union into a loose amalgamation of oligarchies and totalitarian states dominated by Russia.  From the very first moment of his term, Trump has set about unraveling our country’s generations-old leadership position in the world, and China has gladly Hoovered up every opportunity to exercise its new found world position.
One notable of example of this phenomenon was the World Trade Organization conference in Marakesh last October, convened to update international trade rules.  We’ll let Osnos tell this sorry tale:

“The Trump Administration, which has been critical of the W.T.O., sent an official who delivered a speech and departed early. ‘For two days of meetings, there were no Americans,’ a former U.S. official told me. ‘And the Chinese were going into every session and chortling about how they were now guarantors of the trading system.’”

Trump continually boasts about “Making America Great Again”, and “Putting America First.”  The problem is that he simply doesn’t understand what that means and has made idiotic decisions that has diminished our country, and creating opportunities for other countries, especially China and Russia to jump into the breach.  Exiting the TPP was stupid.  Now American beef comes second to other beef producing countries like Australia.  Withdrawing from the Paris climate accords has damaged our reputation and stature throughout the world.  China is also negotiating to create the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership, which will form a 16 country free trade zone.  The US is NOT one of the 16 countries.

The damage that Trump has inflicted and continues to inflict will be multi-generational.  Some of the damage may never be repaired.  The US’s unilateral surrender of its prominent position as world leader has emboldened other countries to take over that prominence.  Protectionism and isolation never works, especially in the new, interconnected global market.

Apparently, Paul Manafort doesn’t understand just how much trouble he is in.  He’s been in contact with a Russian for a public relations effort, clearly in violation of the terms of his bail agreement.  Mueller has apparently backed out of the deal and wants Manafort back in court.

In an idiotic ceremony today, Trump hurled a blazing molotov cocktail into the nation’s health insurance program by abruptly ending $7 billion of subsidies that make insurance affordable for millions of Americans.  Every health organization opposed the move, but he predictably did it anyway, and all the normal morons showed up at the WH today to celebrate killing off poor Americans.

Trump has already cut the enrollment period for 2018 in half, cut the advertising budget by 90% and slashed the navigator program which helps people enroll.  Even though the ACA survived repeal by the knuckle draggers in Congress, it looks like Trump was the useful idiot who signs everything put in front of him, and he did it again today.

Hopefully, when the program implodes, voters will understand who did it, but I’m not holding my breath.

You’ve heard of Occam’s Razor, yes?  The principle is based on a theory from Franciscan friar William of Ockham, who lived in 14th Century England.  His principle is quoted as, “Entities should not be multiplied unnecessarily.”  Translated into modern language, the theory was restated to, “…when you have two competing theories that make exactly the same predictions, the simpler one is the better.”  The principle has been applied to theory for  centuries.

Welp, there’s now a theory that has been postulated, first popularized by Josh Marshall of TPM during the 2016 election.  The theory is dubbed Trump’s Razor.  The principle is this – “ascertain the stupidest possible scenario that can be reconciled with the available facts”; in other words, when Trump or his brood do or say something, the stupidest scenario that explains the statement is the true one.

Case in point (among dozens):  “…calm before the storm.”  Trump couldn’t resist shooting off his mouth during a dinner with military personnel.  He stupidly blurted out the “calm before the storm” comment, and then doubled, tripled, and quadrupled down.  Utilizing Trump’s razor, the statement was simply stupid, and he couldn’t bring himself (as usual) to back away from it.

The fact is, Rex Tillerson is correct – Trump is a fucking moron.  (Sorry, Momma) He simply has no self control; no sense of decency, no empathy.  If he thinks something, no matter how idiotic, he just blurts it out.  When cornered, and pressured to explain himself, he doubles down and says something even more stupid.

Trump’s razor is true –  a reliable tool to analyze Trump’s proclamations.  Whenever he says something, especially when it gets national attention, Trump’s razor is a correct predictor.  He’s just simply stupid and shallow.  He’s not in a 3 dimensional chess game – he’s just hoping to get two scoops of ice cream for dessert.
