Welcome to The World's Most Dangerous Beauty Salon, Inc.
My name is Susan DuQuesnay Bankston. I live in Richmond, Texas, in the heart of Tom DeLay's old district. It's nuttier than squirrel poop here.
I am honored and privileged to know Miss Juanita Jean Herownself, hairdresser extraordinary and political maven. Since she does not have time to fiddle with this internet stuff, I type her website for her and you can read it if you want to. If you don't, she truly does not give a big bear's butt.
A lot of what I post here has to do with local politics, but you probably have the same folks in your local government.
This ain't a blog. Blogs are way too trendy for me. This is a professional political organization.
Yes, I’m afraid it’s too good.
1Churches made a deal with the devil-they got tax exempt status and had to keep their nose out of politics. For the last 20 or 30 years, wingnuts have been encouraging them to get involved with politics and the IRS has been hounded by right wing nut cases like Issa, they probably are afraid to intervene.
2Thoreau said he didn’t see why the teacher should be taxed to support the preacher but not the other way around.
In some churches, the preachers stand in the pulpit and openly endorse some political candidates and/or condemn others, DARING the IRS to do diddly about it. Sure enough, the IRS has done diddly about it. What can we expect when there’s an “Office of Faith-Based Initiatives” in the White House? (“Faith-Based” = mealy-mouthed word for “religious and almost certainly Christian, probably evangelical”.)
Thomas Jefferson is spinning in his grave.
3Blame dumbass dubya for the faith based BS. I hope Obama is giving plenty to Muslims because he is going to get crucified for it even though he professes to be of the christian faith. I’m pretty sure the constitution doesn’t allow public money going to religious outfits, but wingnuts can’t read and/or comprehend.
4For more than 200 years, the Crazy Christians have enjoyed tax free status.
But when the GOP fed them red meat to do that southern strategy thing of theirs, the rest of us having been suffering a major loss. Our freedom from religion is being assaulted at the state level, federal level with Congress and now with the SCOTUS rulings personifying corporations as having unconstitutional rights to impose their ‘Christian’ fascism on all of us.
We need to swing back hard and fast with a cease and desist order. Either they respect the separation of church and state, or lose their tax exempt status.
Theocrats, you meddle, you pay. It’s that simple. $$$ ding, ding, ding. Oh the joys of taxing the televangelists in particular. Time to two prong the theocratic Taliban Xtians. Unleash the IRS on their money, while the FBI investigates them for unAmerican activities.
5Founders of the Massachusetts Bay Colony left Jolly Old England to get away from its established Church of England. They then set up an established, government approved church and ran off dissenters like Roger Williams and Anne Hutchinson.
Seems like I recall something in our history about having no established religion or church…religious freedom is what I think they called it.
6Reah, Old Tom is not just spinning! He’s digging a tunnel.
