Stand Back! Take Cover!
Honey, Honey, Honey, you better stand back because heads are gonna explode!
The American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists said in a statement that it was “pleased that the updated FDA-approved regimen for mifepristone reflects the current available scientific evidence and best practices.”
Ka-boom!
Thanks to Mazie for the heads up.
How long will it take before those amateur government gynecologists (also known as ignorant Republican men) get on the FDA’s case?
1¡ It is damn well about time !
2@Old Mayfly
I’m thinking in about half the time it takes for a surly New York cabbie to honk his damn horn atcha.
3Ka boom indeed.
4Old Mayfly: “amateur government gynecologists” Perfect! May we borrow your phrase?
Unfortunate that so few of the snacilbupeR have military experience, or they would understand what it means to be the “on scene commander.” It doesn’t matter (unless in consult) what another doctor thinks about a patient. The doctor on scene examining the patient and the patient have the best data from which to determine the options. That fact and equality are for both men and women. Trust me, I don’t want Loopy Louie or Marsha Blackburn determining our birth control or family size.
*** few choice expletives … small government snacilbupeR *** more choice expletives.
5Drumpf will immediately rescind this order because Obama is no longer in charge. Let the people have a voice (if they agree with Drumpf), if not.tough noogies.
6this will never fly. What do you think this is 2016? OMG you can’t trust women to rule their own body’s that is what men are for.
7@ Rasty Bob – I wish I had a like button. That was priceless!
8Never fly? Well, the Goopers could possibly pass a law but at this point that is unlikely inasmuch s they can’t do nearly anything damn else they are so politically constipated. And since an awful lot of ‘mericans are already getting their meds from Canada . . . need I say more?
9It was only about 40 years ago women could have their very own credit rating. That was progress.
10B-b-but, The Donald has something to say about this!
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/donald-trump-abortion-women-punishment_us_56fc2a99e4b083f5c606880d
11How in the world can a woman ever vote for a wingnut? Do women not care what men do to them in any way, shape or form?
12I pity the folks who have to do the cleaning of the Republicans’ congressional offices. All that messy brain matter. Oh, wait! Never mind…
13Didn’t take long for the amateur government gynecologists to crawl out:
“The impact in states like Ohio and Texas may be sweeping. But in at least one state, Arizona, lawmakers already have sent to the governor a bill that seeks to thwart the FDA’s impact by explicitly requiring the old label. By coincidence, it could become law as early as this week.”
http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/fda-move-could-radically-transform-abortion-access-n547996
Right up there with laws forcing doctors to lie to their patients, e.g. telling them that abortion increases their risk of breast cancer. (It doesn’t, and it’s also about 10– or is it 100– times safer than giving birth.)
And has anybody else noticed some of the comments about Trump’s comment that women who seek an abortion should be punished? Everybody from Trump to March For Life says that they only want to punish the doctor, not the woman.
Aww… poor widdle woman victim went to evil doctor and asked for an abortion. Slam doc in jail, and pat the lil’ lady on the head and send her back to the kitchen (barefoot). It’s not as if she’s an adult who can make her own decisions.
14UmptyDump, of course there “has to be some form of punishment” for women who have abortions.
I would suggest pinning a huge, scarlet letter A to the front of their garments. You know, “A” for abortion.
15@LynnN – Actually it’s Donald who should be wearing the “A” – sewn to the seat of his pants. It’ll be over the spot that symbolizes the epithet that best describes him.
16Note that what Trump actually said was: “illegal abortion should…have some kind of punishment.” A clever hedge! This throws it back to the states to make abortion legal or not. He’s trying to keep the votes of the foaming reactionaries without losing the rest of the country. Cute trick, if he can do it.
17This is wonderful news, but I guess it remains to be seen how many pharmacists refuse to dispense. My sister is a pharmacist and managed the CVS pharmacy operation for a long time in Abilene, where there is a church on every corner and the local Planned Parenthood drew a crowd of sidewalk prayers for years until they shut it down. Rain, shine, and 110 degree heat… and there were folks on their knees outside the Perrine Planned Parenthood. Remember when there was the dust up about certain pharmacists refusing to dispense birth control pills for religious reasons? You know… does your Mom know you’re taking these? and other none-of-your-damned-business judgements. The pharmacist community nationwide, and particularly in backwater Texas, had some rabble rousers in it who really tried to organize their religious fervor side of the argument, placed pressure on other pharmacists to join their idiocy. I came in from that liberal bastion of Denver to visit one year, and we had a whole lot of eye rolling discussions about the pressure she was under from some of her customers, Sunday School classmates, and random protesters passing out fliers in her parking lots. I think this is where the action will happen with this latest change by the FDA. The twits will go after the pharmacists not to dispense, the little mom and pop shops will be able to choose not to carry the drug… and in a small town, you’re back to square one. CVS filled birth control prescriptions regardless of whether or not it was a 14 year old girl in braces, w/acne and menstrual cramps , or not. The Px is legal, you fill. Miles to travel to fill a legal prescription is no different, really, than miles to travel to receive an abortion. Those lifer-folks are like arm wrestling with an octopus.
18I would like someone to make the connection between Drumpf’s comments and the way that women are being prosecuted due to “personhood” laws that are being passed. Here’s an example: http://www.alternet.org/civil-liberties/arrested-having-miscarriage-7-appalling-instances-where-pregnant-women-were
The idea that the Repubs are against women being punished for failing to conform to the social norms of how a pregnant woman is “supposed” to act is BS. Once again, Drumpf is just saying out loud what the others are thinking.
19That’s why this article is even more interesting.

Apparently, some states are way out in front of the anti-choice fanatics.
20You don’t like abortion, don’t have one.
