Somebody Please Buy Mitch McConnell A Damn Mirror
I do not understand why when Mitch McConnell opens his mouth, a little sign saying “Irony” doesn’t pop out of his forehead.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said Wednesday the Senate will not consider President Barack Obama’s nomination of Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court.
Obama did it “not with the intent of seeing the nominee confirmed, but in order to politicize it for the purpose of the election,” the Kentucky Republican said.
Damn. Does this guy not hear what he’s saying?
Obama is being political? What? Is refusing to give the nominee a hearing is straight outta the Constitution? Does it now say that congress can advise, consent, or ignore?
Thanks to everybody for the heads up.
McConnell is baffling – not his opposition so much as his pursuing another suicidal strategy doomed to failure for his party. I normally support keeping guns out of the hands of crazies, but if McConnell is so hell-bent on putting a political pistol to his own head, maybe he should be given a little slack and a collection taken up to buy him some bullets.
1He certainly understands. He understands is you tell a lie over and over enough, that there is eventually going to come an acceptance of the lie as the truth. Trickle down? Job creators? Death tax? Death panels?
2Unbelievable comment by Mitch–since he uttered his opposition and obstruction to the confirmation of a new justice less than an hour after it was announced that Scalia had passed away–these people know no boundaries and their lack of respect for this president is overwhelming–he probable waited for days to send this condolences to Scalia’s family–POLITICAL he says Obama is???
3Whether Mitch yearns for “My Old Kentucky Home” or life at sea with his in-laws, it’s time he made a choice. He simply is not Senate material.
4Fake Noise claims Obama has ruined the nominees life and career by nominating him when he knew wingnuts would tear him apart.
As for politicizing this, wingnuts did that the first day Obama was sworn into office. They are 7 pus years late to the game. Email your congress critters and remind them the people get to choose this fall whether to keep the obstructionism going or settle for sense and sensibilities by kicking the party of no to the curb, hopefully for the last damn time.
5Only Democrats “politicize” things, and only Democrats have “litmus tests” for judicial appointments. Or so the GOoPers keep telling us. They themselves just want “the best candidate for the bench,” and it’s certainly not their fault that said candidate is always anti-abortion, pro-voting-suppression, and virtually always a white man.
6Since his entire career is politics and not governing, one has to wonder if he needs help. He does not have a basic understanding of words and reality. I am not sure he is safe to leave the house without adult supervision.
7Repub kant is a language of denial. The denial of rights and priv’s to others. Denial of what was said in the past. Denial that they said anything in the past. Et cetera. To them de Nile is a river in Egypt. They deny responcibility for anything and deny accountability for waste, fraud, deceit, abuse and mismanagement.
8Turtle-face is their political and social icon. Never had a job other than elected office or working for a Senator [Sherman Cooper & Marlow Cook], and now has a net wealth – greater than 200% of his lifetime aggregate income.
Mitch’s true name is Bigot. Stopping Obama at one term worked out well for him.
9This is the norm for McConnell – when he said it I wasn’t in the least surprised. I did vomit into my mouth a little though.
10Wait until November. The irony may very well turn to hubris.
11if BHO nominated ronald raygun mitch would have a problem with that…..
12The Florida Senator that actually does his job, Bill Nelson, supports President’s Obama”s nominee. The republicans are embarrassing themselves with their bs.
My mother a life time registered republican is horrified by what we see. She’s 81 and hasn’t voted for a repub pres since hw shrub and I teased her terribly about her vote in our primary. She voted for bush I couldn’t convince her to vote for drumph. 🙂

“always a white man”
Except for one of their favorite “house niggers”, good ol’ Clarence Thomas, who toes their line faithfully.

14That goes along with Mitch’s Double Plus Secret McConnell Rule – No More Of Anything For The Black Guy.
15Senator Yurtle is the very definition of “post Turtle”. I find myself in agreement with Mark Twain who may,or may not, have said:When the end of the world comes, I want to be in Kentucky*, because everything there happens 20 years after it happens anywhere else.”I believe it necessary to remember that Kentucky is also the home state of Kim Davis. (* Twain may have used Cincinnati, and there is some debate about attribution). Regardless it sums up Kentucky pretty well. Yurtle really has no idea how a Senator should act. His presence is very similar in my opinion to what Louie Gohmert would be should he ever be elected to the upper house.
16Poor mitchie. He has dementia and doesn’t know it. History will vilify him and the rest of his quisling buddies. First they sold out to the tea party terrorists, who are more dangerous to this nation than ISIL,etc, then they sold out their country. Sad way to end one’s career.
17That Roe-Bama! How DARE he nominate exactly who we said to! That proves it’s political!
18I just learned that you can email Mitch McConnell even if you do not live in KY because he is the Senate Majority Leader. Usually you cannot email elected officials if they do not represent you.
http://www.mcconnell.senate.gov will take you to a form so you can express your opinion on the Supreme Court nominee or any other damn thing. I hope everyone will be polite. It was hard. You have to add a prefix to your name. I usually use “Ms”, but for Mitch I went with “Mrs” since he is so enlightened.
19AliceBeth, thank you. I plan to unload on McTurtle. I promise not to use any profanity. Will content myself with words he’ll need to have read to him.
Have already contacted our one Republiscam Senator to smooth talk him. He’s such a dolt. We flatter him with ‘he could become a statesman.’ That’s about as likely as me becoming a mother to goats, but he is a sucker for flattery; and whatever works to move at least one nacilbupeR to do their job.
Oh, and Miss Juanita Jean, are you any relation to Nolan Ryan? You whooped a fast ball by me, again. Buy?!? Why would I buy anything for Mitch? Except maybe to crown him with it; like launching one of his father in law’s new cocaine tubs.
20Mitch and others (Hatch the Okie, for one) have said they can’t consider the President’s nomination until after the election, because they have to “allow the people to speak.” I believe the people spoke loudly and clearly in 2008 and 2012, and if I’m not mistaken, President Obama will continue to be President for his second full four-year term. It will serve them right when the next Democrat enters office, at which time I hope Obama is the nomination. Thanks so much, AliceBeth; I, too, will be writing to Mitch.
21PKM, I hope many on here will share their thoughts about how really awful he is….in that polite southern manner that I was taught.
22Rubymay, please share with as many people as possible.
@Tilphousia
Thanks for the opening. Au contraire there. I suspect that in even 50 years Mitch “Yertle the Turtle” won’t receive so much as an asterisk by his name on a list of Majority Leaders. I’d be surprised if his bio gets as much space as does “J. Hamilton Lewis” in 2016’s Wikipedia.
By comparison in that time, I’d prognosticate that Chief Justice Obama will be favorably compared to William Howard Taft.
Yall just need to figure out which Obama will be the Chief Justice!
Or will the Chief Justice be a Clinton?
23Kudos, AliceBeth, after submitting the form, the message comes up “Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me.”
24I don’t think he’ll thank me for telling him how shameful his obstruction is and his refusal to do his job is tantamount to treason. Do you think I went overboard just a little?
Given a Republican President, a conservative nominee and a liberal justice who was being replaced, these guys would be pissing all over themselves to confirm. President’s last day in office?? No problem. The previous justice only passed away yesterday? No problem. These guys are classless hypocrites of the first order. I have called my Senators and and told them what jackasses they are.
25Micr, Chelsea Clinton maybe; she’s young enough to annoy the snacilbupeR for years. And, please both President and First Lady Obama as justices on the SCOTUS. They too would have many years to aggravate the snacilbupeR.
Apologies, if that sounds ageist to anyone. The thrust of my intent is to counterbalance Chief Justice Roberts for many years. No one can compete with RBG, but we cannot count on her for 40 more years.
26PKM, great comments. We need more counterbalance if we don’t want to just slide off one end of whatever.
27maryelle, I am sure he deserved everything you said and more. I so wanted to call him an asshole who does not care about actual non-elite, non-Republican Americans. But I was taught to behave.
28And poor ol’ Mitch, who always looks like his chin is quivering.

Errmm, Marge…that’s not a ‘chin’…
30(it’s a f—skin on a big flaccid —- 🙂
“Obama has ruined the nominees life and career by nominating him when he knew wingnuts would tear him apart.”
epo, that is pure snacilbupeR double speak. It’s Obama’s fault for nominating him, not s’nacilbupeR fault for tearing him apart. Sounds like the man who was asked, “Why do you beat your wife?” “Well if she just wouldn’t make me mad!”
31Wapo suggests that after Hillary wins the election, lame duck snacilbupeR will be in a hurry to approve Obama’s current nominee, fearful that Hillary and the Democratic Senate will seat someone more liberal. Wapo also posits that the day after the election Obama should withdraw Merrick from consideration.
Doncha love it?! Hahahahahahahaha!!!
32It is easy for me to see Dr C V Clinton in the WH, and she has attained one year of age more than the Constitutional minimum.
So far as 2017+ is concerned I would prefer Clinton 45 nominate 42 as SecState in her first term. In that role he would likely propel American foreign policy to new heights and in new directions.
I have my eye on a couple of youngish justices on the 9th circuit that I quite like, Michelle Friedland and nominee Lucy Koh. I am told both are leftish moderates. Plus they are young enough to absolutely annoy Roberts, Alito and Thomas, the latter possibly into retirement. Now an Obama appointment to SCOTUS, possibly as a RGB follow-on would be tastee.
A Dem POTUS, a changing Congress and three or four potentially retiring SCOTUS justices before 2020. Good times!
33Mitch McConnell is the official Anus of the Republican Party.
34Thank you AliceBeth – sent my message
35Hope someone mispells irony and it comes out iron me on Mitch McCTurtle’s shell.
36Micr, that sounds like the good fortune that happened in Minnesota in 2010. (Governors are elected to 4 yr terms in winter Olympics years.) We got rid of the pathetically weak chinned Pawlenty and we’re blessed with Democratic Governor Mark Dayton and a Democratic legislature. Lots of really good stuff happened, like raising taxes on the wealthy. Our economy took off, education funding on all levels was returned to pre-snacilbupeR levels. We’ve since lost the House to snacilbupeR, but it’s still good.
37A “damn mirror” is the only kind that would look back at him.
38Monty you nailed it. ‘Cause that’s where all the crap comes out.
39Excellent shot!
I think Mitch has already broken enough mirrors. How else to explain the bad luck of having Trump as the Repub front runner?
40I don’t know how McConnell can dress and feed himself when his thinking is so seriously deranged.
41I sent him a comment and told him to DO HIS JOB.
