So, Is Franklin Graham Saying That You and I Outvoted God? Cool.

November 18, 2012 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

You know, up until Franklin Graham told me otherwise, I thought God was omnipresent and Omnipotent.

Apparently not.

As Graham denounced the Obama years, Newsmax‘s Kathleen Walter asked, “So we’ve become too secular a nation? How do we bring God back into government?” Graham replied:

Maybe God will have to bring our nation down to our knees—to where you just have a complete economic collapse. And maybe at that point, maybe people will again begin to call upon the name of almighty God.

Economic calamity was the one option Graham mentioned—as if only such a disaster could move the United States in the right direction.

Apparently, at least according to Graham, we – you and me – went out there and outvoted God in a damn landslide.

Bless his heart, he’d rather question God’s wisdom than admit that he, Franklin Graham, might be wrong about what God is doing?  Franklin would rather that God make little children starve than allow a black man in the White House.  Ya know, if that is the God that Franklin says has driven us to secularism, then nice work, guys!

Thanks to everybody for this one!

  1. Ralph Wiggam says:

Two weeks ago he thought he was right about everything and God was on his side. The election proved that somebody was wrong. He is just having trouble deciding whether it is him or God that is wrong. I think he has settled on God.

  2. TexasEllen says:

That economic collapse that happened on W’s watch? Was that God’s way of telling Franklin that he wanted the US to vote hope not hate in 2008? Didn’t think that might have occurred to Franklin.

  3. Since Daddy Graham took up with Nixon way back when, I’ve been very suspicious as to where they’re getting their marching orders. Guess what, Frankie, God talks to me as loudly as he does to you. And I’m getting a different message.

  4. Franklin just proves the fruit doesn’t fall too far from the tree—but sometimes it gets worm filled and rots sooner.

    4
  5. Ralph W, I wish I’d written that post.

“He is just having trouble deciding whether it is him or God that is wrong. I think he has settled on God.”

  6. Can no one in the GOP ever admit they are wrong? That they lie? That they cheat? For a ‘man of God,’ this one surely has never read the parable about the rich man and the camel. What a greedy, pompous jerk. To refresh his little mind, Jesus said that “It will be easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than a rich man to enter Heaven.” See, Richie Rich, God has somehow blessed you with millions of dollars. So instead of using it to help people, you run a ‘charity’ that pays YOU a half mil a year. Said charity rounds up donations from many Americans every year, to pay your salary. And then you make a show of giving away shoeboxes packed with things other people bought, not your foundation. And there was that little Alaska photo op with the starving native people. I heard you brought them religious tracts and Sarah brought cookies. Wow. That must have cost you a bundle, huh?

  7. Frank’s got a point. The Great Depression gave us 15 years of FDR, Glass-Steagall (R.I.P.), a host of social welfare programs and banished the Republicans for decades.

We and God just did it again. I think Frank better stop blaming God for our economic collapse and focus on who really did it.

    7
  8. “Father, if you are willing, take this cup from me; yet not my will, but yours be done.” Luke 22:42 If I understand the verse correctly, that means God gets to decide, and it’s not for us to interpret the decision.

    8
  9. So he’s hoping for a complete economic collapse. No wonder he keeps supporting Republicans.

    9
  10. I saw that some Bible-thumper said we should vote according to “Christian principles”. From his associates, it was evident that, say, healing the sick and feeding the hungry weren’t the principles he had in mind. Getting all up in other people’s business seemed to be more what he favored. I don’t know what Bible these people read, but it’s not the one on my shelf (alongside the book of Freethinker quotations).

  11. I never felt that his father was a mean and angry man. Junior, however, is just plain nasty. He will take the Graham name down with him. Greedy little putz.

    11
  12. Marge Wood says:

I think we should have a secular government. It would take a lot of pressure off the various religions. I’m staying out of the who said or did what. I ain’t God nor His spokesperson.

    12
  13. The more these guys talk about values the more everything for them is about money.

    13
  14. Hoping for a “complete economic collapse.” What a dick.

    14
  15. Frankie was the “wild” child of Billy and Ruth. Something tells me that he can’t wait to do a repeat of that, but he has to shuck the collar and the calling first — big time.

    15
  16. Franklin is another one of those sons of privilege riding on Daddy’s coattails without ever having to do any work of substance in his life. And he’s an idiot.

    16
  17. When, oh when will we limit the “no tax on religions” to anything except houses/services of worship? This thread and the next are two more examples of how power without concomitant responsibility can corrupt even a worthy person or activity. Which I think is what the good “ministers” think they are condemning when they are actually practicing it.

    17
  18. Don A in Pennsyltucky says:

Let me see, what party has been advocating “Expansionary Austerity” despite all the evidence that contractionary policies cause economic contraction? What bunch of politicians have been doing everything possible to prolong this deeprecession? And now we learn that they have just been doing God’s work in order to wreck the economy and bring the nation back to which god was that again — the one who loves everyone so much that it has to kill them?

  19. Aghast Independent says:

Ummm, I only have one question.

    Who cuts this guys hair????

    19
  20. I have, over the course of the past few years, participated in the Samaritan’s Purse project that is Franklin’s Christmas Child’s Shoebox program. It is because of Franklin’s own words against President Obama that I opted NOT to do the shoebox thing this year! There are sooooo many other ways to help the children of the world to be fed, clothed, given gifts … other then all the “Made in China” crap from the Dollar Tree Store … and, yes, I am as guilty as the next person of packing that shoebox full of said crap from that very store! But not this year!! And, too, Franklin was instrumental in coercing his doddering ole Dad, Billy, into backing the Romney/Ryan ticket!!

It hurts me to the quick of my soul to have these so-called “Christians” twist and turn in the wind and use the title “Christian” as an excuse rather then a reason! Some of the stuff these folks espouse just leaves me speechless and so angry all I can do is sputter!

I answer to the title “Christian” and I try my darndest to live by and be true to that title and yet, I know that by being human, I fail so miserably more often then not! So, from now on, I will give where I know it will really do some good and not line the pockets of the so-called do-gooders who end up doing no good at all!!

  21. Wyatt_Earl says:

This is just another example of a second generation nit wit who’s done nothing on his own, but is reliant on the fame and fortune of his father. Donald Trump, Mitt Romney, this idiot, I’m sure there are others.

Why anyone listens to them about anything is major mystery to me.

  22. penelope roberts says:

    how do you spell charlatan?

there are several spellings. my favorites are:

    graham, and
    evangelical.

  23. penelope roberts says:

    marcia,

this year i contributed to strike funds for working americans.

i’ve been watching ads for care, save the children, salvation army, for 40 years and I don’t see that it has done anything but allow these operations to flourish. and the SA uses my money to buy anti-gay influence.
striking americans will also go hungry and without gifts. so they get my money.

    23
  24. Lorraine in Spring says:

    Oh, Good Grief.

Yo Frank, bubba, listen up: You don’t talk about being a Christan. People should be able to tell what your believe by your behavior. If your behavior doesn’t match your words, you’re violating #3 on the Big 10.

    Not to mention:

Your strong love of money violates #2
Your questionable treatment of your dad violates #5
Your support of Uganda’s “Kill the Gays” law violates #6
    I don’t know about #7 or #10 – but I’m wondering.
Your begging for money surely violates #8
Your political comments against President Obama violates #9

Take a refresher & humble thyself or start paying taxes.

    That is all.

    24
  25. The best sermons are lived, not preached.

As I recall Franklin got caught double-dipping a few years ago. He was taking a big salary from Samaritan’s Purse for full-time work, while taking a full-time salary from the Billy Graham Foundation, making his annual pay way in excess of a cool million. He was supposed to have given up most of the pay from the Foundation, but who knows if he did.

    25
  26. Franklin forgot about St. Francis and preach the gospel at all times, if necessary, use words.

Wasn’t there something in the New Testament about leaders being put in the leadership position by G-d? Franklin forgot that part, too.

    26
  27. @Marge, we do have a secular government, at least for now.

    27
  28. Sam in Kyle says:

I don’t mind people bringing God back in if they think that helps, just not his god (the one he sees when he looks in the mirror).

    28
  29. So the devil can rig an election but God can’t. Time to change teams.
