Small Battles and Glorious Victories UPDATED
Most of y’all know who Pamela Geller is. For those who don’t, she’s three broomsticks ahead of Cruella De Vil.
She hates Islamics. All of them. And she believes that Barack Obama is Islamic. The Southern Poverty Law Center identifies her as a hate monger. Some of her stuff goes like this:
“Islam is not a race. This is an ideology. This is an extreme ideology, the most radical and extreme ideology on the face of the earth.”
— Pam Geller On Fox Business’ “Follow the Money,” March 10, 2011“Obama is a third worlder and a coward. He will do nothing but beat up on our friends to appease his Islamic overlords.”
— Pam Geller, AtlasShrugs.com, April 13, 2010“Hussein [meaning President Obama] is a muhammadan. He’s not insane … he wants jihad to win.”
— Pam Geller, AtlasShrugs.com, April 11, 2010
The Sugar Land, Texas, Tea Party invited Geller to a book signing and lecture at the Hyatt Hotel in Sugar Land. Geller told her readers that she was coming to Texas “locked and loaded.”
Oh yeah, like everybody who lands at an airport in Texas gets issued a handgun.
Sugar Land is one of the most diverse cities in America, including a large Islamic population.
The Sugar Land Democrats Club organized a “Peaceful Protest” of her visit across the street from the Hyatt and sent out press releases this morning.
Within two hours, this came:
Alert/Alert – The General Manager of the Hyatt Place Hotel in Sugar Land, Texas called me at 10:30am Monday, Oct 17th and informed me that the Hyatt Place Hotel has canceled the Sugar Land Tea Party event with Ms. Pamela Geller as speaker and they have informed the Sugar Land Tea Party. On behalf of the leadership of the Sugar Land Democrat Club and the Fort Bend County Democratic Party and all citizens of Sugar Land Fort Bend County who respect and believe in diversity I wish to thank the Hyatt Place Hotel of Sugar Land for canceling this event. We will not hold our protest outside the Hyatt Place Hotel. Please stay tuned for further announcements later today.
The manager of the Hyatt did not know of Ms. Geller’s work and apologized deeply.
I want you to remember that as you travel. The Hyatt did not want to sponsor hate. Give them your business.
I have my sign made and ready for where they move it to. I hear the Grand Ballroom at Hackin’ Harry’s Hotel and Distillery is available.
UPDATED: Well, I wasn’t far off with Hackin’ Harry’s. They moved the event to the Sugar Land Community Center on Matlage Way. Come join us. Bubba is going and promises to email me pictures!
