Sit, Boy! Sit, Boy!
There is a dog fight in Lucas County, Ohio. It’s Republican vs. Republican.
A Lucas County Republican Party organizational meeting that turned into a brawl last week has prompted congressional candidate Richard May of Cleveland to suspend campaign activities in that area for the next two months.
“The physical confrontations and acts of uncivility are embarrassing to Toledo, the Republican Party and the conservative movement,” said a statement released by May, the GOP candidate for the congressional seat currently held by Toledo Democrat Marcy Kaptur. “I condemn these thug tactics.”
Well, there ya go. Republicans and I finally agree on something – they are the party of thugs.
The fight was over who gets to be the Republican county chair of Lucas County. It took armed guards to settle down the right-wingers.
Here’s the news report. Warning: you have not seen this many white people in one room since the last Jimmy Buffet concert.

Holy cow, y’all. Just holy cow. All y’all need is open carry and it would look like a third world country.
Well, it IS Ohio.
Thanks to Chloe Bear for the heads up.
The Republican Party unleashed the Frankenstein monsters, invited them to dinner, and now that they’re on the monsters’ menu, they’re outraged, outraged, I tells ya.
Serves them right. They knew what the libertarians and tea partiers were, and they were stupid enough to give them so much influence in their party.
1Reminds me of that joke where the compassionate woman picked up a frozen snake. Once it warmed up, it bit her. While she lay dying she asked the snake how it could have bitten her, when she saved it from being frozen. The snake said “You knew what I was before you picked me up.”
2This seems to be happening everywhere.
3As much as I enjoy watching the disruption and obstruction the baggers give to the GOP,
4I fear that they may end up taking over the House and the Senate and drive this country over the edge. Not even Hillary can deal with these wackos. Vote, Democrats, vote!
maryelle, voting for HRC will require holding my nose and controlling the gag reflex, but it would be worth the vote to observe her smacking down these idiots daily. She held her own in the Congressional hearings and without a doubt, she is probably the best prepared candidate to take a metaphoric rolled newspaper to swat them in their noses. President Obama really is too nice to them.
5“Not even Hillary can deal with these wackos.”
Remember how Hilary stood fast against the War on Iraq?
She recently said that voting “no” on the resolution would be “breaking faith with our military.”
But gosh, when we gfet a look at what the Republicans think is fit to be Chief Executive, all Hilary’s faults won’t look so bad. At least there’s a better chance she isn’t actually insane or demented, which the Republican must be to win the nomination.
6I know these people well and it has been a raucous affair for over 10 years. Once, the meeting was flooded with supporters of a aging punk rocker with a dubious unsavory tale. Hello, Punk Chairman.
The uncrazy Republicans joined a coalition behind an independent candidate for Mayor of Toledo whose campaign manager was your humble Chipster.
Well, not humble, because hey, it’s me!
7daChipster, you’re from Ohio? I lived there in Canton for about six months once. Best I can tell, you are independent, okay.
8“A mockery of democracy”…? Certainly not the first in recent GOP history, and certainly not confined to strictly-GOP ranks either.
9Ohio? What the hoo haw! That state had a better employment rate and economy than any other in the country for the longest time. These people need to have their meds checked!
And Mitt is once again at this time of the election cycle the preferred front runner for the GOP! How many times are the Rethugs going to resuscitate the dead!
10Oh goodness, sweet Juanita. Buffett is spelled with 2 t’s, and you’d be hard-pressed to find a more liberal pop icon than him. Tsk tsk. ‘Nuff said.
11Marge. No, I’m liberal, okay. After writing for HuffPo politics, I transplanted to Ohio from Chicago to run two counties for Obama ’08. Next went to Minnesota to work the Franken recount. Back to Illinois to run field for my friend for mayor of my hometown, whose most prized possession was the autograph she got from MLK himself. Then to Toledo to run this campaign, brought on by Dem strategists to counter-balance the aforementioned Republicans.
On my right calf, as on the back right shoulder of daMrs, you will find, tattooed in permanent red and blue ink, the Obama “O” ; daMrs is currently in contention for a communications job at DFA.
“Independent?” Not so much, okay.
12To the guy in the video clip who said he just wanted honesty and integrity…poor schmuck is in the wrong party and just can’t bring himself to admit it. There’s not been honesty or integrity in the GOP for at least 25 years.
13Was ‘Not Joe the Not a (licensed) Plumber, Not a Biz Owner’ there?
Lucas County, Toledo, is the home of good ol’ boy Sam Wurzelbacher, noted business tycoon, economist, political stratergist, McLame/Palin ally, Teabagger, and allaround jenioz.
BTW, he was last known (2/14) to be working a production line union job at the Toledo Jeep plant. Wonder how he’s enjoying the better wages, working conditions and benefits than he’s ever had before?
14Sandridge, you are correct. I did the original research on this article, when he was misidentified in voter rolls as “Worzelbacher” so for a time there he was neither Joe, nor a plumber, nor even a “Wurzelbacher.”

One of my collegues in OFA was very excited to be doing a neighborhood walkthrough with candidate Obama, until Joe showed up. A desperate McCain, having sold his soul to become the nominee, apparently threw his brain into the deal, because he elevated both this dude AND Sarah Palin into the national debate within weeks of each other.

Interesting bit of history, I had done some digging back then too on ‘Joe’.
My teabagger sibling lives not far from there (an extreme RWNJ, and far away from me), has similar demographics to ‘Joe’, is hurting economically, and still cannot see where his political interests should be to save his life, maybe literally (think: “Obamacare” could help him greatly (no Medicare yet), and he refuses to utilize it).
He is real proud of his ‘2 seconds of fame’, having attended an rMoney rally in Toledo and being filmed assaulting a sign toting peaceful Democratic supporter/protester/librul who was also there (2012 election cycle).
Can you imagine a guy whose income is quite low now/then, got his financial butt saved by becoming eligible for SS (early op-in), and still campaigning fanatically for someone like Mitt Romney? Neither can I.
I still think Jt(na)P was a plant.
