I am honored and privileged to know Miss Juanita Jean Herownself, hairdresser extraordinary and political maven. Since she does not have time to fiddle with this internet stuff, I type her website for her and you can read it if you want to. If you don't, she truly does not give a big bear's butt.
A lot of what I post here has to do with local politics, but you probably have the same folks in your local government.

Early Ballot handed personally to the mailman, Monday, October 15, in Phoenix, AZ. With any luck, we will have a shiny new Democratic Senator, Dr. Rich Carmona, in Jon Kyl’s old seat, and a Democratic woman, Kyrsten Sinema, sitting in the new 9th District seat. We might even be bidding an unfond farewell to Sheriff “Crazy Joe” Arpaio when Paul Penzone wins his seat as Sheriff. I love voting early!
1Sen. Claire McCaskill and all Dems I found on my absentee ballot got my vote over a week ago. I think she is going to win despite big opposition by the folks around here who will vote for that ignoramus Tod Akin……the state is a mostly red state, unfortunately, so I fear the President and other Dems will not carry the state. Plan on going to the watch party again this time, too.
2I hope Texas voters aren’t as stupid as Ted Cruz thinks they are.

I voted absentee several weeks ago. All Democrats except where there were none to vote for.
4Forward – to making Texas a swing state. I’d for once like to live somewhere I thought my vote may make a difference in the outcome.
I voted by absentee ballot here in Fairfax City VA on Friday, October 12th and then was immediately sworn in as the Chief Officer of Elections for the CAP. The General Registrar has noted that we are exactly on pace for the number of absentee ballots as we were in 2008.
I expect to be working this Saturday and next Saturday to help General registrar’s staff with absentee voting. Previous experience has shown this to be an extremely worthwhile endeavor.
5I forgot to state the obvious and indicate my enthusiastic vote for Barack Obama. But then, anybody who knows me would cart me off to the Home if they even suspected I would vote for Willard Romney.
6I voted absentee by mail in Harris County last week. When you reach 65 you can vote by mail in Texas with no excuse necessary.
7I voted early last week in northeastern Ohio for Obama in one of those blue counties that the Secretary of State didn’t want to have early voting. It was crowded and made me smile.
There were teabaggers positioned outside the Board of Elections (I suppose within the legal distance) passing out idiocy. I sneered at them–then thought better of it. I’m a democrat after all and we are better than that.
8Sister and I proudly voted early last week for Obama/Biden and the one other Dem on the ballot in Central KS.
9Just voted first by voting straight Democratic and then, in the contested races without a Democratic candidate voting for a Green, if there was one, otherwise for a (gag!) libertarian, never for a repulican. At the moment, Ms. Uncle Dave is driving to the polls where she too will not miss a chance to vote for every Democrat and against every Republican. I reminded her to drive carefully both ways, but especially so on her way there.
10My McLennan county polling place was crowded, but I cast my ballot! And I sustained my perfect record of never voting for a Republican in over 40 years of voting. NEVER!
11Voted at 9:00 this morning in South Dallas (Oak Cliff). Very busy for so early in the day. About half the booths were occupied and about a dozen folks were waiting to check in with election officials.
12Voted at 7:04 AM today. I was the 4th person in line. Williamson County.
13My 82 yro Mom in Big D voted by mail. My younger brother (lawyer) told her that the mailed ballots are NOT counted until 3 days after election. Does anyone know if this is true? Seems to me they ought to count mail-in and absentee and early voting ballots as they come in. Don’t have to announce them, just count.
14NOT TRUE. Mailed-in ballots in Big D are opened and counted on election day.
15How about foreign countries? I live in Merida, Yucatan, Mexico. I voted two weeks ago. Colorado allows me to download the absentee ballot, fill it out and e-mail it back to them.
16My husband and I proudly voted for President Obama and Vice President Biden at 12:03 p.m. this afternoon in Bandera County. At that time, approximately 250 had voted, according to the lady in charge. Good turnout, but most will be voting for “you know who”. Wish our votes really counted!

Almost 28,000 had cast ballots here in Dallas by 4:00 today. This will probably be a record turnout for the first day of Early Voting. Several polling stations have asked for additional machines. Lines extend outside buildings in several locations; waiting time is about 15 minutes.
19Early voting has started in DC, but you have to go to one building downtown to do that. Shortly, one place in each ward will open up. Frankly, I prefer to vote on Election Day. This mainly because my voting place is in a church just behind my apartment building; I can go during the mid-day lull; and I get to talk to most of the people standing outside handing out material for various local offices. This being an over-whelmingly Democratic town, it’s all quite chummy.
I got quite a start four years ago, however. The apartment we lived in then overlooked the driveway to our building and, when I woke up at about 7am and looked out the window, I saw a tremendous sight: people were in line all the way from the church around the corner to half-way down by block. I knew that, because I went down and bought a WaPo and took a good look. Democracy in action, people! Too bad we don’t have a vote in Congress.
20Voted for the honest guys, one borne in my state Hawaii. It was a thrill to get to mark that ballot. May the honest ones win!!!
21Just voted early in Fort Bend County at the Methodist Church off Eldridge. Voted for every Democrat (except LaRouchite nutbag Kesha Rodgers–voted Green in that race) possible, and otherwise Green or Libertarian in races with no Democrat (which is why I never vote “straight ticket”)…I only vote for Libertarians when their only opponent is a Republican; Way I figure, they may both stink on economic questions, but at least the Libertarian may be better on civil liberties questions…
The poll worker gave some grief to an African American woman ahead of me because her voter ID card did not have the most current/correct ZIP code printed on it (!); She wanted the voter to tell her verbally the correct zipcode, which the voter did not know (her driver’s license also had the old Zip Code of 77478). The elections supervisor overruled the clerk and insisted she let the woman vote anyway. If she had NOT done so, I was prepared to take out my cellphone and look up the woman’s address on USPS.com and give her the correct Zip code. Luckily it did not come to that.
22Early voted today in Tarrant County. And proudly wore my “I voted” sticker the rest of the day. Go Obama! (And he better win, because I want to see all those Romney/Ryan yard signs come down quickly on Nov. 7!)
23The one advantage to turning 60-being able to vote absentee in MI. I turned in my ballot today at the township hall with all the Democrats marked and three terrific women running for Supreme Court. Then I headed to the Obama HQ in Flint to make phone calls where we were treated to a visit by Senator Debbie Stabenow. It was a good day.
24voted by mail the day the ballot arrived. Mostly dems, a few greens, especially the one running against Rodgers. Thanks to the Fort Bend Silver Democrats for sending the request form.
25Went with son Malcolm and voted in Georgetown (Williamson County) Eight voting machines in constant use with a line of about fifteen minutes. Voted for every Democrat, all Greens who were in a race with no Democrat, a sprinkling of Libertarians who were the only opponent of the Republican.
26I voted at the Universal City site yesterday and there was a record turnout in Bexar County. More than 28,000 voted before the day was over. There had been more than 26,000 that had voted by 4PM today…a great early vote so far.
27No early voting in Kentucky, you have to have a reason, but I’ll be out of town, so I voted yesterday. Glad to have it in the bank. Not too much hope for Obama in Kentucky, but I have a friend running for City Commission. http://www.rhodesforpaducah.com/
28We both voted this morning in Florence, Tx (Williamson County) and there were a few glitches as our voter registration certificates didn’t seem to match up with their computers at first. However, we both voted. Florence has early voting 2 days (24th and 26th) from 10 am to 7 pm. We’ve had off and on problems with our voter registration certificates not being on some list since the county turned Red, for some (!!) reason. No pictures, sorry.
Sure do hate the new rule that requires someone to *read aloud* some information I absorbed in off his sheet of paper in less time than it took him to read the first sentence. Now if only Romney-owned machine doesn’t decide to change my vote in the wee hours of the night….
29Voted today and it was busy. Collin County Texas is exceedingly red but I did my bit by throwing in some blue.
30Voted today at the Goodwill in NE Austin. They seemed busy, but there wasn’t a wait. Voted Dem if I could, Green or Lib if I couldn’t. Double-checked before I pushed the big red button.
