Oh wow!

I’m stunned.

Bush had an ethics lawyer?

Thanks to Bryan for the heads up.

  1. Maybe they mean Papa Bush, like the one in the Bush Center for Intelligence at the CIA.

    1
  2. Hookers as a business expense if it took place on Trump owned properties?

Double digit claim for dependents, they’ll all minors, and legitimate (as a deduction)?

    “Bush had an ethics lawyer?”

Indeed. Richard Painter was there as ethics lawyer during the Dubya years. However, the chorus of Cheney, Alberto Gonzales, Rumsfeld, et al made him both moot and mute.

Painter recently has done good work with CREW in an attempt to provide the checks & balances on Dotard45 at which Congress deliberately fails. He’s also running for US Senator from Minnesota. He’s a life-long Republican running as a Democrat.

These reformed whores stank up their own nest. Should they be trusted and/or embraced by the Democrats? Sincere. Open question on which I have mixed thoughts.

As for Donnie’s tax returns, does Painter deserve a lol or a d’oh? Or, maybe just a big Nostradumbass with the rest of the pundits.

  4. So far everything that has comes to light out has been really ugly. Most of it far worst than a cigar stub and blue dress that needed dry cleaning.

His kids might be next to ask for immunity.

    4
  5. Rthugs file ethics under E as in empty, enemy, entitled, any more?

Good get. Dicky was a lone voice in the wilderness during shrub’s brief moment in the sun. Papa sent him around to keep an eye on him. The tex-ass mafia kept Dicky away from shrub. His atonement will be acknowledged on Yom Kippur.

    Paul –
Isn’t that supposed to be ‘eny more’?

Republicans are Vogons: “When he heard the word ‘ethics’, he reached for his dictionary, and when he heard the chink of ready cash he reached for the rule book and threw it away…”

  8. “Bush had an ethics lawyer?”
    Hahaha!
Yes his ethics lawyer was hired to advise Bush how to deregulate Ethics. It’s a Conservative thing.

I am tired of these now powerless thuglicans like painter trying to redeeem themselves after they are shuttled to the sidelined.
As for their “good” works after aicheveing political impotency weel being from Chicago originally I have seen this before.
When ever the newspapers ( at that time 4 Daily News, Sun-Times, Herald American and tribune) started some mob expose loo and behold catholic churches would get donations for new roofs and the next sermons would be about forgiveness, second chances and how one should not believe what they read since the local bag man just gave us a new roof.
So it is with people like painter and other reprobates from thuglican regimes. They are trying to pay penance with meaningless gestures.
If painter truly wanted to atone how about ripping open all records about kavanagues time in the heart of the beast?
Oh can’t do that it might actually aicheve something best to stick to empty gertures.

Richard Painter has been all over MSNBC for the last year or so, delivering pithy criticism of Donnie and his criminal enterprise. He’s one of the last of the old school Republicans. I actually like the guy.

That being said, no way in hell do I endorse his attempt to hijack Minnesota’s Democratic Senate seat. He’s still really a Republican – just a displaced one. These domestic political refugees need to band together and take their own party back, not usurp one whose ideals they don’t share.

    10
  11. Jane & PKM, I’ve seen Richard Painter many times on news programs. When I first read/heard of his (former) prty affiliation and position in the Bush maldministration I just rolled my eyes.
But then I listened to him, he turned out to be an honorable guy who was thoroughly disgusted at what the Republican Party has devolved into, he was also clearly opposed to Trump in every way.
News to me that he has become a full Democrat and is even running for US Senate.
I’d trust him, he seemed extremely smart, knowledgeable, and honest to me. Painter would likely be hell-on-wheels towards Trump if he wins his election, a certain vote for an impeachment conviction.

    11
  12. bwa hahahahahaha funniest post everr. ask the people in iraq if he did. count the # of dead civilians that bush killed in a country that had no weapons of mass destruction, that we are still occupying and costing trillions. while that dickwad paints ugly pictures and cuts brush.

    12
  13. If painter is such a reformed scoundrel ( anybody who worked to help the twit was at the very least a scoundrel) why hasn’t he released every document, note, memo, or communication of any kind that he saw or received whether it was just as a FYI, keeping him in the loop or he was an active participant in the exchange.
No can’t do that it is easier to parrot empty platitudes while biding ones time for either another ride on the thuglican merry go round or oppurtunity to stab d’s and progressives in the back.
Waive all attorney cleint priviledge and release everything.
Any less is just empty gestures, meaningless platitudes in an attempt to re enter polite society after he has blotted his copy book so badly that the stench of it drives decent humans as far from him as possible.

    13
  14. I’ve seen Painter not he TV. He is out and out funny! After the way he was treated int he White House, this is his revenge. And he ought to make a darn good Senator.

    14

    @ Jane and PKM:
“These reformed whores stank up their own nest. Should they be trusted and/or embraced by the Democrats?”

    NOOOOO!

Unfortunately, sometimes the Dems don’t give us a choice. When Crist jumped ship and ran as a Dem down here in Florida, the Democrats didn’t run anyone against him. When your choice is between a Republican and a FORMER Republican, what do you do?
    Disgusting.

    15
  16. I like Richard Painter a bunch, but I don’t want him elected as a Democrat to any office. He is, always has been, and always will be a nacilbupeR.

    16
  17. You need an ethics lawyer when you risk being convicted of ethics violations. Republicans mostly seem to just ignore the whole issue, but once upon a time people cared about it. And once upon a time starts many fairy tales.

    17
  18. Painter was trounced in the primary here in Minnesota. Tina Smith, Democrat and democratic down to her bones, beat him. She was Gov. Dayton’s chief of staff, then appointed by him to fill former Sen. Franken’s seat till the next election.

We didn’t trust Painter’s GOP bloodline and Shrub service. Eeuuwwww!

Presents the dilemma that the dnc and powers that be put the body politic in when they decide that having 2 thuglicans on the ballot is better then just one.
Easier to protect your big time financial masters that way.
    Can emphasize with you.
In hawaii a good thuglican ( mythical like unicorns and dieties) , ed case, has snagged the D nomination for house seat.
In this case the real thuglican will get booted after 1 term should he win. Whereas case, like lipinski, will, like cancer, hang on and corrupt the agenda forever while using power of incumbancy to stay in office with dccc and dnc blessings.

  20. Jonathon Hubbert says:

Reformation and expiation for former misadventures is the American way.

I became a Democrat after 20 years of faithful service to the Republican Party. The Republican Party of Teddy Roosevelt, Dwight Eisenhower, Sherman Cooper, Sherman Minton, Vance Hartke and the rest who passed the Voting & Civil Rights Acts of the 60’s; wrote the original Equal Rights Act and … provided us with a progressive income tax. Today’s repubs are NOT Republicans; they are republi-cons & republi-can’ts. Dicky Painter took too long to see the light – but that’s what power does for humans – alters their vision and perspective.

Converts are to be forgiven and embraced … not embarrassed and taunted.

    20
  21. Let’s not get hung up on old grudges. The important thing is to defeat the hate machine that is the Trump administration. Those who speak out publicly against their wrong doing are fighting the good fight.
One can only hope that Mueller has those Trump tax returns and that they yield fruit for the case against him. Also the cases being considered in New York and Manhattan against the Trump Trust and business organization may reveal even more dastardly doings.

    21
  22. One of the issues I have with thuglicans pretending to change their stripes is that they don’t change their opinion on anything and admit to the error of their past’s but rather seek to get the d’s to conform to their inane economic theory’s social shibbol’s and to respect their delusions.
Not only that but their demonstration of political cowardice of helping to create demented donnies party by nurtureing, supporting and financeing representative such as palin, doran, king, issa, cheney and the rest of that nest of vipers.
This is what happened in the late ’80’s early 90’s when the political cowards left the r party went to the dnc with checkbooks in hand and asked How much?
That is how the last 2 d presidents were, in truth, rockefeller rethuglicans by their own admittance.
First have them admit that tricky dick was a crook, that addled ronnie raygun was a disaster who, with iran/contra, shredded the constition, perjurer poppa should be in jail for over 8 years of perjury aand then buying off witnesses with pardons a he went out the door, the twit should be hard time in the hague as a war criminal and this the demented one is the final product of a bankrupt ideology, a corrupt party and what the thuglicans have been trying to aicheve ever since FDR.
Then also admit their greed and forbearence for shills and conmen in pursuit of greater and greater disparties socially, economicaly, racialy and based upon delusional cults.
Then sit down in the back of the room keep their mouths shut and ears open while they learn something based upon reality not fantasies. When requested they will write checks but will only offer their opinion after it has been given to them.
Progressives are just now reclaiming the D party and it is a tough enough job with out ensconcing political cowards who are fleeing from the disaster they created with out accepting any responsibility for the toxic environment they created.

    22
  23. I agree with everything K posted.

Oh, I like Painter standing against Trump, but this mess started in the Republican Party long before Trump.

And every one of these reformed Republicans were a big part of it. They should have come out against the lies of the Iraq War! Too many of our young died and were maimed for me to forgive.

Pardon my rant, but every Republican who is now speaking out were a part of the rotten mess. The smell has now gotten so bad even they can not tolerate it!

    No soup for them!
