School Board Members Again
Damn, Oklahoma, you sit up there all nice and quiet and then — kabam!
A set of parents wrote a nice, really nice, letter to the Board of Education suggesting that in-person school be postponed for nine weeks.
A board member replied —
Hello Adam;
Thanks for your opinion.
I’m not convinced anyone, certainly not the experts, most defiantly not me know much about covid. We shut down schools because it is what we had to do in order to defeat the deadly Chinese virus, just 21 days if we shut everything down, more than 2 months later states started to reopen. Then the 2nd wave and cases with numbers never seen before, well actually the group (20 to 50 year olds) that were not aloud in hospitals and clinics because they were not at risk were not being tested well now they are. Tests were not available then Kodak gets resurrected with a $500 million contract to provide chemicals to make tests now we are testing at a rate of nearly a million a day, nation wide. Reporting is faulty as many states are/were counting a positive covid test the same as a positive antibody test, which are the opposite. One sais you have it one sais you have antibodies which help your body fight it off. The press want you to be in tune with the number of cases as bad news sells and those numbers are going up but death rate is going down.
I certainly appreciate the trust you place in myself and the board but there is no right decision, certainly not for everyone…
Jeff
I’m not certain what language that is but I seriously doubt this guy could even correct his mistakes. But, ya know, it’s Oklahoma, so you get the same choices we get in Texas when guessing what’s going on – drunk, lost, pig ignorant, or methed up.
Thanks to Keith for the heads up.
I believe the translation of that letter is “do you really want to send your kids to a school system that produced ME?”
1Evidently it doesn’t take a knowledge of Basic English Grammar and Spelling to be on a school board in Oklahoma.
2Don’t forget all of the above!
3My brother and sister-in-law moved to Tulsa last year to be near son #2 and his family. I think they’re all nuts for living there.
4If school board member Jeff attended school in Oklahoma, I think he’s proved parent Adam’s point. Kids won’t miss much learnin’ with in-person school attendance.
5correction above, last sentence should be:
6…won’t miss much learnin’ with or without in-person…
I have to say that almost anyone can – and does – get elected to school boards. About seventeen people come out to vote. Anyone with an agenda or a beef can collect family, friends, neighbors (and, especially, church) and win a term. No one comes to a BOE meeting, except in a crisis or when some sports might be cancelled, so everyone gets reelected. I’ve known some wonderful BOE members who’ve made a difference, but man! some real crazies and angry people who are unprepared for the work do get elected.
7How does the saying go? Never send an email drunk, or send a “hot” email till the next day?
It just goes to show, spelling checks and rudimentary grammar correction can’t overcome vapid…
8“drunk, lost, pig ignorant, or methed up”
Hey it’s Oklahoma, so he could be all four.
9Its all those tornadoes they have endured over the years! All tht funneling wind sucked up brains!
10“I’m not convinced anyone, certainly not the experts, most defiantly not me know much about covid.”
Most “defiantly” he thinks he knows better then the experts.
“Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge.” (Charles Darwin)
11Sounds like Oklahoma has too much wind screamin’ down the plain, and not enough brain in the pan. They are obviously–observiously?–trying to out-dumb East Texas, but without the comedic timeing necessary to make it really, REALLY work.
Good luck to ’em, though!
12I am not sure we want his schools open under any conditions.
13I posted this on the Fb and emailed it to every Tulsa acquaintance in my address book, linking to the Union Public schools page, which includes his AOL email address and a telephone number,
“I don’t know what to say about this email exchange between parent and school board member. I know people who have lived in Tulsa for years and they don’t strike me as either stupid or illiterate. Apparently Jeff Bennett, elected school board member, is one, the other, or both.”
14Me sais his defiant opinion don’t matter. Iggorance, plane and semple.
15If it’s the “Chinese virus”, he’s obviously a Trump supporter, and that explains a lot.
16I was going to drop him an email, but curvestulsa@aol.com seems like an odd address for a guy who works at United Airlines. It looks like it’s a spoof so he doesn’t hear from anyone. Balletopedia.org shows that his educational background indicates he should be smarter than this drivel presents.
17This bored of education member most defiantly not me know much about covid. 20 to 50 year olds were not aloud in hospitals and clinics because they were not risky. Reporting is faulty as one sais you have it one sais you have antibodies. Thanks for the trust you place in myself but there is no right decision, certainly not for everyone. Jeff from Tusla
18What a perfect example of how we got Cheeto in the Whitehouse! Way back in the 1960s the Rs came up with a long term plan to take over American politics, first we take over the school boards then up through all local, county, state, and national offices. I sais they done been successfull! We know how unintelligent the average American is, the Rs are below that average, they vote consistently and out of fear. Beware the Jabberwocky!
19Jar Jar Binks is alive and well and living in Oklahoma!
20Here’s Jeff!

21My daughter-in-law is an elementary school teacher in the Tulsa ISD. Oklahoma teachers are among the lowest paid of teachers in any state.
It looks like Oklahomans reap what they sow, but at least they have a good football team. Mr. Bennett and his friends have put their money where their mouths are…
22In Oklahoma it’s called a tooth brush for a reason. Elsewher it is more properly called a teeth brush
23The stupid is a Republican thing. Remember our second worst president’s famous words “our children is learning”? Evidently they isn’t.
24I hope I’m not the only one who noticed that that neanderthal addressed his response only to the husband, although their email was signed by both wife and husband. Sure looks like he easily ticked off every bigot-box on the response form.
