Rules for Republicans
Rules are different for Republicans than for the rest of us.
Let me give you just one example.
Leslie Rutledge is running for attorney general of Arkansas. She’s a Christian, pro-life, gun carrying conservative. You know that because it’s pretty much all she says. And you’ll note that she never, ever says she’s law-abiding. Because she ain’t.
It seems that when Leslie up and decided to run for Arkansas attorney general, she was relying on the fact that she registered to vote in Arkansas in 2006. However, she also registered to vote and did vote in Washington in 2008 and then in Virginia in 2010. She subscribes to migrant voting patterns.
Well, the Libertarians have a candidate in that race and they brought Leslie’s voting records to the attention of the Pulaski County Clerk who followed the law and canceled her voter registration.
Under Arkansas law, it is a felony for a person who is not a qualified voter to vote in an election. State law also prohibits anyone who is not registered to vote in the state from being elected to public office.
All she has to do to correct this is come re-register at the county elections office. But, noooo ….
She decided to do the whole poor put-upon white Republican woman, the single most discriminated group in the whole damn world.
She did not let-up stomping her feet and whining even when it was pointed out that “a Republican-backed 2013 law imposed rigorous new voting guidelines.” In short: Honey, it’s your bed, go to sleep.
She proceeded with her dog and pony show but when the dog peed everywhere and the pony didn’t know any tricks, it started becoming abundantly clear that Democrats were right in claiming that when Rutledge left a position as lawyer with the state Department of Human Services in 2007, DHS officials placed her on a “do not rehire” list, citing “gross misconduct.”
Rutledge has said that action also may have been politically motivated, saying she worked at DHS under Democratic officials and left to work for former Republican Gov. Mike Huckabee’s presidential campaign.
Yeah, yeah, they made stuff up because you’re a Republican. Wait, wait, you mean the same Mike Huckabee who was Governor of Arkansas? That dog don’t hunt.
Rutledge also has drawn criticism over a television ad that features her speaking into the camera and vowing to “stand up to Obama and fight for Arkansas values.” The ad is paid for by the Republican Attorneys General Association.
The pro-Democrat group Southern Progress has questioned whether the ad is legal, saying a political candidate cannot legally coordinate activities with an independent expenditure organization, or super PAC, and that a super PAC is barred from “expressly advocating” on behalf of candidates.
Rutledge says that since she didn’t use the word “vote” in the ad, it’s perfectly legal. Yeah, she said that.
Rutledge said she believes her campaign has been subjected to an unprecedented level of attacks and said her gender as well her political affiliation may be a factor.
I dunno, it seems to me that your sense of entitlement is the main factor. Just because you have a pair of red boots doesn’t make you Superwoman.
Thanks to Elizabeth for the heads up.
In any given situation, the white Christian pro-life gun-carrying conservative is always the victim. Just, you know, FYI.

Future Forecast: Fox “News”
2Teapublicans sure have whining down to a science but they should institute No Whining policy. It might cut down on some of the public embarrassment.
Some. Certainly not all.
3Well, isn’t she special! Said in my best Church Lady voice 🙂
Yup, PKM, she will fit into the Fox News set perfectly. That way, I will never have to listen to her as Fox News is not allowed in my home, nor will I sit in a place where that is the TV program. I just leave after letting someone know why. It’s not much, but the best I can do.
4The “clown car” analogy some other patrons use comes to mind and works particularly well here. She just claimed “shotgun”.
@PKM: And PKM might have pulled a Chipster and nailed it first rattle out of the box. Arkansas is preparating another failed politico for a career as a talking head at Faux News.
5(Yippee!)
It ain’t so much that there are different rules for Republicans but more like if you’re a Republican you think that those rules only apply to other people, not to “us” dontchaknow.
6There is nothing new about right wingers who are avid in applying laws to others–including laws about personal decisions like sex and reproduction–being shocked, absolutely shocked, when someone tries to apply any laws or regulations to them.
For a long time their ideology has been “Do as I say, not as I do, ’cause what I do is privileged. ‘Cause I’m special.”
7They just cannot help themselves….what is in the Repig water? Bad acid?
8The Leslie Rutledge Connect-the-Dots & Find the Mistakes Coloring Book!
Every page contains Christian, pro-life, gun carrying conservative images and icons! See if there’s any way you can draw a line from Jesus to an AK-47! Remember kids, it’s OK to color in Ronald Reagan and raised taxes with the same crayon!
9@PKM: Please amend “blond” to “bleached blond.” Natural blonds are intelligent, caring individuals. It’s my theory that all the bleach that further scrambles their brains.
10Sincerely,
Natural blond. (check)
Intelligent (check)
Bleeding heart liberal (check)
My goodness, this woman gets around: Arkansas, Washington, Virginia. Wonder if she’s been sending in absentee ballots for every election from all those places too. Can anybody find out?
11Then she would be in an even bigger mess of trouble.
Consider it done, Jan. As a non-expert in detecting bottle blonds (until too late) thought it best I didn’t proffer an opinion as to the source of Rutledge’s blond.
Rick, any child of a right winger can connect the dots between Christ and an AK-47, but can they draw a line between Republicans and integrity?
12Oh,shucks. She registered to vote yesterday.
Leslie Rutledge finally registers to vote
13October 3, 2014
by David Ramsey
Republican attorney general candidate Leslie Rutledge finally registered to vote today. Her registration had been cancelled because she was also registered in Virginia and Washington, D.C. Could be chalked up to an honest, if sloppy, mistake, but Rutledge’s response was to blame Pulaski County Circuit and County Clerk Larry Crane. She demanded that he reinstate her. Crane countered that legally, his hands were tied and she should simply register to vote. The “blame Crane” response was goofy on its face and with her candidacy in jeopardy, Rutledge finally bowed to the inevitable this afternoon and registered to vote. /more/
e:
14But did she cancel her registration in DC and Virginia? That’s the big question. If she didn’t, she’ll get her registration canceled again. I guess Larry Crane will have to make a couple of phone calls, won’t he?

Now with a bonus page! How many districts can Leslie Rutledge register to vote in an election? The correct answer might surprise you!
15W C-she’s a wingnut. Can’t expect multi-tasking from her. 🙂
16Another Republican For Voting Fraud As Long As It’s Mine.
17Oxymoron of the day: “pro-life, gun carrying”
cuz every slug fired from a gun is a little “life missile,” don’tcha know.
18PUhleez, somebody put a scratch and sniff at the bottom of the deep end of the pool and tell her go down and sniff it!!!!
19Even though it’s Arkansas……. shouldn’t a person running for election to be the Chief Law Enforcement Officer of the State, actually know “the law”? Just askin’
