Rick Perry in Texas

Public Policy Polling meandered down to Texas to discover that Rick Perry is more unpopular than he is popular with numbers of 48% to 45%.  Good news for Perry, though, that those numbers are up from June when he was at 52% disapproval.

He’s an unpopular as ever with independents, running at 61% disapproval.  With them, he couldn’t get a date at the Chicken Ranch with a hen under each arm and a $20 bill taped to his forehead.

Here’s an interesting one —-

Rick Perry has an under water approval rating in Texas and he’s leading Barack Obama by a smaller margin than John McCain won the state by in 2008.

Darlin’, if you are less popular than John McCain in your own damn state, you got some public relations work to do.

The bottom line?

Texas is probably a pipe dream for Democrats next year, especially given the overall national political climate. But the numbers here still show some things Republicans should be worried about- the fact that the voters who know Perry best don’t like him, and that Hispanics continue to support Obama overwhelmingly.

Those who know Perry best, don’t like him.

I just love reading that.
