Rage? Really? I’m Shocked.

July 25, 2012 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Now, you would think that the leader of Washington State’s anti-gay marriage group and member of the State Lege would be a calm, rational, Christian, friendly … okay, so you wouldn’t and he’s not.

In an apparent fit of road rage, Preserve Marriage Washington Executive Board member and Washington state legislator Rep. Matt Shea (R-Spokane Valley) pulled a loaded gun on the driver of another car.

Anti-gay Shea pointed a loaded gun at another driver after he cut the guy off on the freeway and the guy got jerky about it.  Luckily, the only thing anti-gay Shea shot at the guy was the bird.

Anti-Gay Shea

The police officer filing the report says that anti-gay Shea “became cotton-mouthed as we continued to discuss the violation.  It was obvious to me he was extremely nervous …”  The office also reports that Shea “thought he was being targeted due to his work.”

Come to find out, anti-gay Shea did not have a permit for his flashing handgun.  His concealed carry permit expired “several years ago.”  Anti-gay Shea says that was “just the normal forgetfulness of people”.

Yeah, really?

Honey, Honey, Anti-gay Shea Honey, your little hiney is on the State House Judiciary Committee with jurisdiction over most firearms legislation.  And you, yourownself sponsored some firearm legislation.

All that aside, there’s also laws about pointing a loaded handgun at people.  And since anti-gay Shea is a lawyer, he can look it up at Section 47a.3471(c) of the Code of Criminal Rage Procedure under the heading of, “Crap You Do That Can Send Your Butt To Jail.”  Pointing a loaded pistol at people is right at the top of the list.

Also not surprising?  Anti-gay Shea is a big 2nd Amendment guy, and touts that he is endorsed by the Gun Owners of America PAC..

Thanks to Brian for the heads-up.

Be social and share!

  1. Are you really surprised? Really? And I guess if the other guy had actually returned fire with his own weapon (cause you know that if everyone had a CCL, all this carnage could be prevented…), President Obama would have been blamed!

Republicans must think they are teflon coated! How do these folks maneuver through life without winding up on that stupid TV show “1000 ways to die”?

Too stupid to draw air, but extremely lucky!

as a right wing republican, he will suffer no consequences for his intolerable, unamerican behavior.

  3. Pro-life? Except when you almost cause a wreck and the guy executes some “aggressive lane changes” and you pull out your (license expired) gun and threaten to shoot him. You mean that kind of pro-life?

Sounds like little Mattie needs a time out (or ten) and a few months of anger management classes. Some classes on basic human decency would not be remiss.

Those eyes are a dead giveaway and tell you right away he’s got a whole lot going on. Ever see Ramona on Bravo’s Real Housewives of New York City? (it’s being a long hot slowww summer when you will find me admitting in public I know who Ramona is!

  5. Here in Washington, things are a little different: the Tea Party types don’t have the whip hand, and this guy is toast.

There seemes to be an emergent profile within the GOTP lately; let’s take a look at anti-gay Shea.

    1) virulently homophobic
    2) anger management issues
    3) a big, old manly pick’em-up truck
…….(note – a fast sports car would also qualify)
    4) a long, hard, dangerous item in his pocket a.k.a. a gun

It’s looking like there is a growing cadre within the GOTP that is just insecure and unsure of their manhood, and they are compensating, compensating, compensating just as fast as their Low-T glands can churn.

I believe this basic insecurity extends throughout the GOTP – men and women alike – when it comes to intelligence as well. Smart people, let’s face it, tend to aggregate in the Democratic Party. This also leads to deep-seated feelings of inadequacy on the right, leading to all this burgeoning Rethuggery.

It was supposed to have been a trenchant comment at a closed meeting of supporters, but President Obama was right: they cling to their Bibles and their guns because THAT’S WHAT GIVES THEM THE POWER AND SECURITY THEY LACK.

(And one day, I will tell y’all the story of the “clinging” comment from INSIDE HuffPost.)

Hey, NRA Bubble People, If Americans can’t trust a Republican member of a state lege to handle guns properly, why should we trust any of you people at all?

What these folks refuse to see is the Constitution states something else very clearly: Congress has the right to make laws. Period. So, we have a Constitutional right to own guns AND make reasonable gun laws.

And don’t forget that other bastion of Teapublican brilliance, Arizona. Remember JT Ready? Minuteman extrordinaire? Murderer best bud of State Sen of Arizona Russell Pierce, author of SB1017? Was he crazy or dangerous to others or not? Google old JT and decide for yourself.

Separating Paranoid Bully Teapublicans and Guns. Is there an app for that?

I’d really like to know how someone can “get jerky with” the car that just cut them off. I mean it cut you off, so now it’s in FRONT of you so the only options you have are to ram the S.O.B. or make some gestures — possibly holding up 2 fingers in a peace sign to indicate that you forgive the nitwad who just cut you off or perhaps only half of a peace sign.

So here’s Deadeye Matt the roughest, toughest, gun-totin’, conservative Christian right-wing Republican straight white American male in the state of Washington and he’s driving fast and loose and he cuts somebody off and looks in the rear view mirror (finally) and sees a gesture that makes his already-hot blood boil so he slows down pulls out his Roscoe and shows it to the offending cutoff-ee. I don’t think Matt is wrapped too tight but he’s sure as shootin’ wound up a little too tight.

  10. A majority of NRA members want some gun laws to be tighter. I don’t know where they keep getting the extremists at the top of their group.

@daChipster: Your profiling is right on.

The Texas T’s I know personally are scared to death of change. My read of them is the idea that Texas, the USofA, and the world will get browner is more than they can bear. And they are going to do something aboot it. That “something” as yet seems undefined in their minds. Maybe they think they can legislate change out of existence. They are oh so wrong.

Of course, “The more you can increase fear of drugs and crime, welfare mothers, immigrants and aliens, the more you control all the people.”

  12. @daChipster. Totally agree. For their base, the earning power has also gone down, which amplifies the whole reaction and makes it easy to get them to focus on the wrong reasons for that. I think that’s part of the reason that the attempts on corral women has gone into overdrive – helps remove them from the job field. Disenfranchising gays and minorities helps, too.

All the comments thus far have been great, but da Chipster has hit another one out of the park. He mirrors my opinion to a T.

Juanita, the more I read into this post, the more I laughed.

It is almost impossible to believe how stupid Rep. Shea is and how many bad decisions he made. Though I join others on suspecting he will just get a tap on the wrist, I hope they throw the book at him. Road rage is foolish and dangerous. If Shea is too adolescent to control his temper in reacting to a situation he caused, he should not be driving at all – not to mention should not be in the legislature.

She said Shea insisted she walk on his left side because his sword, if he had one, would be on his right side.”

I am so embarrassed that I am in this guy’s jurisdiction. *shame*

I am thrilled we have an awesome candidate, Amy Biviano, who is gonna kick his butt all the way back to his lonely little hole and can mess with his sword all by his lonely self.

  22. Bananas says:

Tap on the wrist? Don’t be so harsh!

“Shea eventually was charged with a single (misdemeanor) firearm count – having a loaded handgun in a vehicle without a concealed weapons permit – which will be dismissed next January if he has no further criminal violations before then, according to documents from the Spokane Municipal Court that were sent to The Spokesman-Review by someone with no apparent connection to his opponent’s campaign. . . Shea paid a $75 fee and agreed that the information in the police report is correct.”

  23. rubymay says:

It just wouldn’t be fair if Washington State didn’t get their share of looney tunes. Not surprised he’s from the Spokane area. Spokane is the Capital of the Inland Empire, presiding over the eastern (and VERY RED) side of the state. I think they should have thrown him in jail for the road rage alone. Still, it’s good fodder for his opponent’s campaign.

Some days I’m a proud Washingtonian, and other days, not so much.
