Quote of the Week

January 15, 2021 By: El Jefe Category: Insurrection, Sedition, Trump

You’ll probably recall the videos showing a Metropolitan Police officer being dragged down the steps on the west side of the building and beaten by Trump insurrectionists.  These self-described “patriots” beat this officer with poles of their flags and his own baton.  They stole is ammunition, his radio, and other equipment.  They tased him several times. When they started screaming, “Kill him with his own gun!”, he cried out that he had kids at home.  A few rioters who had not completely lost their souls stepped in and saved his life. He was rescued and sent to the hospital.

The officer’s name is Michael Fanone; he is an undercover narcotics detective who rushed with his partner to the Capitol when he heard about the attack.  For his efforts, he was almost killed by Trump insurrectionists.  He was interviewed today by CNN, and the reporter asked him what he wanted to say to the rioters who saved him from being killed.  His response?

“Thank you, but fuck you for being there.”

El Jefe unilaterally declares this to be the Quote of the Week.

  1. Steve from Beaverton says:

I also saw a news video on Ari Melber of one of the rioters that tried to beat the officer with an American flag. That guy was yelling that everyone in the building needed to be killed while beating on his chest like an animal. So when they finally get around to charging him with assault, they need to include attempted murder of a police officer. I for one am sick of our flag being hijacked by Trumpf thugs claiming to be patriots.

    Steve: So am I.

And there’s a freshman Congressman from North Carolina, Madison Cawthorn, whose offical bio says under Education: U.S. Naval Academy. Wanted to be a Marine, defend his country. He didn’t go…his explanation is that a bad car wreck, leaving him partially paralyzed, caused him to be rejected.

But…he was rejected BEFORE his accident. He started college (can’t find the same Twitter thing so I can’t find the right name for it) known for turning out right wingers to be on staff for right wing politicians, but made straight Ds his first year and flunked out. OK, if you’ve been crunched hard in a car wreck, college is gonna be harder, but…lying about Annapolis? That’s, um, not OK. (Further looking: it was Patrick Henry College he attended.) A home-schooled boy, worked for Chick-Fil-A for awhile, claims CEO as his occupation but founded the “company” as dealing in real-estate but all it’s done is buy a small property in Georgia. No income listed from it according to the links.

The Republicans in the 2021 Freshman class are epic.

AXIOS shared the story: “House freshmen at war after Capitol siege”

Apparently, there was a clear split:
Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) vs. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.)

Rep. Peter Meijer (R-Mich.) pinged his support of Mace. Rep. Burgess Owens (R-Utah) chimed in thanking Greene for the support of the president.

Looking forward to the full development of a split.

  5. The interview with Officer Michael Fanone was both harrowing and heartbreaking. It is unimaginable what fear these brave officers felt during this thankfully failed siege.

I do not believe there is punishment strong enough to sentence trump or trump’s terrorists to. May the courts show no mercy.
