Quick, Jim Bob, Let’s Get Us Some of That Voter ID!
Interesting numbers came out in the sunshine and are taking a little walk.
Blacks voted at a higher rate this year than other minority groups and for the first time in history may also have voted at a higher rate than whites, according to a Pew Research Center analysis of census data, election day exit poll data and vote totals from selected cities and counties.
As for whites, not only has their share of the eligible electorate been falling for decades, but their turnout rate appears to have declined in 2012 for the second presidential election in row.
Now I’m here to tell you that the white boys ain’t gonna take this news easy. They can fool themselves into thinking that blacks won’t turn out in a high rate again if a black man doesn’t top the ticket. I have some scary words for them: Cory Booker. Julián Castro. Hillary Clinton.
Blacks in America have seen their power and it is good. I think blacks are here to stay — in the voting booth.

Please don’t put all us white men in the same boat. I have voted in every election since I turned 18. And I don’t vote for crazy.
I don’t believe in god, or that tax cuts are magic, or oil companies need help while the poor do not, or more guns are always the answer, or that outlawing abortion will make abortions go away.
And those white people who can’t face reality? I think you meant to say “Republican” there.
1Your Bubba, my Juan in a million, Everyday Freethought, and legions of sane white men of various ages know that Republicans are guano brained. I hope all sorts of folks remember how very valuable their votes are and turn out in such numbers in each election so that Karl Rove weeps helplessly.

VoterID is not the only thing that the Repugnicants are pulling out of their bags of state legislative trickery. There is a Repugnicant State Senator here who wants to make a change to the way that electoral votes are counted so as to take advantage of the gerrymandered congressional district lines they drew in 2010. They would award one electoral vote to the winner of each district and two bonus votes to the overall winner of the state. Under that scheme, the President would have gotten less than half of the electoral votes for this state. Watch for it in your home state. My bet is that it is another Koch-funded initiative from ALEC.
5I commend all those voters who stood in line for hours to exercise their right to vote.Hopefully this is the last nail in the coffin Repubs. But as Don A I fear the outcome of their gerrymandering & their messing with the Electoral College. Plus dem white boys are making a run for all the Bushmasters that are left at WalMart.
6If we can manage to actually make stuff happen as a result of voting, I’d imagine we’d get a bigger turnout every time.
