Poor Greg Abbott
You know that sound of a hungry child banging his spoon on the high chair tray? That’s Greg Abbott, and like the child, he has himself so worked-up that he doesn’t know what he wants.
After the horrifying tornados in Texas, Abbott went hat in hand to the man be believes wants to invade Texas. Abbott begged President Obama for money to help Texas. That’s the same Abbott who won’t take money for health care for Texans, causing more people to die weekly than died in the tornados.
The minute Obama handed Abbott the emergency money, Abbott bit his hand.
Abbott said, “Bring it on!” to the man who commands the largest military on the face of the earth.
Following the President address about gun control, Abbott tweeted this —
Damn, Governor, what ya gonna do? Pee in his swimming pool? Check out tacky romance novels from the library in his name? Declare Sarah Palin president? Cry and bang your spoon in his ear?
Governor, I hate to be the one to tell you, but Darlin’, you’re outgunned, outsmarted, and outclassed. All the truly gun nuts are holed up in Utah, so Obama has you just where he wants you. Your Texas Guard won’t get passed Lackland Air Force Base, even if they could find the keys to the armory.
Do you forget that this is the dude who found and killed Osama bin Laden?

9Texas WAS a great state, back when Ann Richardson was alive. Ever since the Bushes took control, and then Perry and now the spawn of Satan, Abbott, Texas, like the GOP controlled Michigan and so many others, is on its way down. I do not care how many minimum wage oil jobs were created under Perry. You still have the fewest children with health care, the fewest kids graduating from high school, and a whole bunch off idiots who keep electing people even dumber than they are to these offices. In MI, we Dems had million more votes in November of 2014, but the GOP gerrymandered us so badly that we only maintained Levin’s Senate seat. It is pitiful what is going on here…posioned municipal water systems, schools closing,. teacher pay in the dumpster, our roads more fit for horses than cars, libraries cutting hours, and on and on. Wake up, America, and return what’s left of this Democracy to Democrats, before the theocrats and fascists like Cruz and Trump turn the entire nation into a 3rd world catastrophe!

12Fallkonskat- I spent a lifetime in Texass( Ft. Hood) after I had spent a lifetime in a year in Asia. I couldn’t wait to get out of both the military and the state. Haven’t been back, to the state, since and likely won’t.

15l’angelomisterioso: Amen. Feds have a choice of suitable aircraft, actually. A-10’s one of my faves (Warthogs forever!), esp. because it’s hard to shoot down, has long time over target, and (OK, I’m prejudiced) is the best ground support aircraft we’ve had in a long time. (The Air Force thinks it’s awful, but that’s because they want the glamour planes.) The problem with Apaches is that any chopper is vulnerable to small-arms fire from the ground and those guys claimed to have weapons that could take one out (whether they had any skill is a whole other question.) OTOH, Apaches sure as heck can get down on the deck and sneak up on people. We live close enough to Ft. Hood that I’ve seen them. But still–one round of anything big enough to the tail rotor…

20Well, some of the truly gun nuts are currently holed up in Oregon. They have taken over a government building in support of a rancher who says he doesn’t want them there.
I’m hoping the government just shuts off the power and lets them experience the joy of an Oregon winter.
Of course if the government did decide to take them out it would take about 20 minutes and include time for a long coffee break. These wusses know that 1) our government overall does not casually slaughter its citizens (yes, there are exceptions) and 2) the government doesn’t want the bad press.

23Have knowledge of such planes due to an air base in Michigan where they were parked. They take off so low and all too often before dawn so that anyone still asleep in the nearby houses will likely fall out of bed! The noise these planes make is unforgettable let alone their profile!
The “Come and Take It” meme is so ridiculously over the top in response to closing the gun show loophole and preventing people who are on the terrorist no-fly list. That’s all the President is trying to do, which makes Abbott look so much more the fool.

the great thing about the OR “stand-off” is that it was an empty building, now with only the domestic terrorists occupying it. it can be flattened, with zero concerns about innocent people being injured/killed. unlike at the Bundy ranch, these idiots were too stupid to have women and children with them, to use as shields.

I met him when we were both stationed at Hood. I believe the solution to the “patriots ” in Oregon is in cutting off their access to food, water, or heat until next spring then call in an AC- 130 for one quick pass. That might work better than the fling wing.
29Maggie- No- I don’t think so Daisy cutter in my lexicon was a bomb or artillery shell fused to go off a few feet above ground level. We had what the press called “puff the magic Dragon” – gun ships made from old C-47s/ DC-3s which we called “Spooky” for the sound they made especially the mini-guns( rotary multi- barrelled) electric driven 7.62mm guns. Now they make them from the C-130 Hercules the hercy bird.
30Honestly I would prefer they be treated like the common criminals that they are. Uniformed police can establish and secure and enforce a perimeter. SWAT can open the building and secure the criminals inside. Uniformed police should hook ’em up and walk them to waiting transport. If they are uncooperative several companies make and sell restraints for that eventuality as well. None of this is beyond the scope of an average competent SO or PD. If they seem to be escape risks, well, local jails of average competence deal with such inmates daily.

So again another example of why I, a native texan, have not stepped foot there since 1989. I began to realize in the early`70’s what texas was becoming. I began to realize in the late `80’s what the republican dictatorship had become. Above kallie says: commented that texas is a great state. If that were true, you would never have had the criminal bushes, the creature perry, or this current asshole. Remember creature perry suggested succession immediately upon President Obama’s first election. The sad truth of the matter is that the republican voters have the “COLLECTIVE” intelligence of an earthworm. That is “COLLECTIVE” not individual.
This situation is dire, folks. It is not funny. It is no joke. We as a nation are in deep crap. The world situation is such that we need to be coming together as a nation. But the republican dictatorship is dividing us. They stand up there and call President Obama and Hillary Clinton divisive. It is they who will destroy this great republic. I fear it is too late to stop.
