Planned Parenthood Wants to Teach Your Daughter How To Get Pregnant So They Can Sell Her an Abortion
Just when you thought that free enterprise was safe in Texas, along comes the Republican controlled Texas House of Representatives claiming that Planned Parenthood sex education is aimed at selling abortions.
You know, like Avon or Tupperware. In your damn home. With your kids. Get scared, dammit!
Currently, Planned Parenthood provides materials for sex education classes in Texas. Some Texas GOPpers have up and decided that Planned Parenthood, who is now known by the code word “abortion affiliate”, is plotting to make make themselves rich by causing more pregnancies that will need terminating.
You think I’m making this crap up, don’t you? Haven’t you learned anything here by now? You cannot make this stuff up; it would be impossible.
Rep. Jodie Laubenberg of Parker, a co-author of the bill along with Reps. Geanie Morrison and Scott Turner claimed that abortion providers “have a financial interest in the area of sexual education,” adding, “the classroom is not the proper place to market and recruit clients.”
Because if you teach kids how to use a condom, you’re just begging them to get pregnant so you can sell them an abortion because they used a condom and everybody knows that condoms cause … wait a minute! I just got lost on this highway to conception.
I dunno how to explain this to you, so I won’t even try. I’ll just say, There ya go. That’s Texas.
Thanks to Kathleen for the heads up.
Geanie Morrison is pandering to those folks she pissed off two years ago. She’s trying to get out of that basement office she earned when she got sideways with the Speaker. She is an embarrassment to Victoria!
1Yep, and Driver’s Education is just another way to teach kids to wreck cars. (eye roll)
Last time she screwed her head on, she stripped the threads.
2Oh gawd Ralph! Another great one.
3I don’t need a dominatrix (professional name: Jodie Leatherberg) meddling in my grandchildrens’ schools.
4Jodie, honey, kids don’t need sex education to teach them how to do it. They’re real good at figuring that out by themselves. They need sex education to teach them how to do it right so they don’t NEED abortions. Try looking at some numbers from countries with good sex ed and much lower teen pregnancy and abortion rates than the high ones that we have BECAUSE OF MORONS LIKE YOU.
I swear some of these Republicans are so good at defying reality and sense that I don’t know why more of them don’t get flattened like possums when they try to cross the street.
5The stupid never stops here in Texas.
OT, I noticed in another story on the linked website that the female Trooper who performed the vaginal exam on the two women on the side of the highway has been fired.
6Eeeekk! Shreeeeekkk! We’re surrounded by morons.
If you look at the statistics, you will see that Tx leads the nation in teenage pregnancies where there is more than one child… and we aren’t talking twins here… One child out of every 11 children nationally is a Texas child living in poverty.
How’s that abstinence only sex education working for ya?
Morons.
PS: Storks do not deliver babies.
7Until the Teabaggers got started, I used to think Texas had a monopoly on stupid, but I’ve decided Texans are just more up-front & louder in expressing their views, stupid or otherwise.
But the ‘otherwise’ do seem to be outnumbered these days.
8OK, clearly these people are too stupid to know that morality cannot be legislated (it’s been tried and we still have Republicans).
Also, they appear to be blathering with the silly notion that telling kids how to prevent pregnancy causes it. Do any of these people writing this crap know anything about parenting (ya know, beyond procreating the tykes)? If you don’t give kids accurate information about sex and pregnancy/disease prevention, they get the information from their hapless friends. Oy Vey – or the internet (shudder).
Wanna know why 9 out of 10 of all of our foster kids were born to young, unwed mothers? Poverty, not sex ed. These young women were reduced to finding any means of keeping a roof over their heads (ergo prego). You don’t have to think too long about what a young woman without financial or family support has to trade for rent… The issue wasn’t about knowing how to prevent pregnancy – it was knowing how to survive.
9Clarification: by “people writing this crap,” I am referring to Jodie Laubenberg and her fellow miscreant congressthings.
10When i worked at The Univ of Tx Medical Branch in Galveston we developed a sex education curriculum for middle school aged students. we taught it for 2-3 years in the local middle school. we were able to demonstrate, thru testing, that we could increase their knowledge about human sexuality. we published the data and made presentations to national conferences. after refining the program, we printed 500 copies and sent them to US Government, who funded the work. as far as i know, all of the copies are still sitting in a warehouse somewhere, and have never seen the light of day. the US Gov’t is just as paranoid about sex ed as the TX gov’t appears to be.
11I’m gonna HAVE to stop reading about this ignorant stuff! Never in my life have I heard of such brainless drivel come out of the mouths of these people……how to they even FUNCTION on a daily basis….I mean, they do not possess a modicum of INTELLIGENCE!!!!
And I’m the mother of three daughters….
12Just HOW stupid can they get? The idea that Planned Parenthood uses abortion services as a profit center is so ludicrous that the only person who could come up with such a notion is a woman who charges her husband for every kiss.
13^ Don A beat me to the punch (and not the first time, I might add). Some idiots seem to think PP is in the business of making profits. Somebody needs to point out the facts to the idiots. Oh, like that will do any good.
14JJ, I love your sense of outrage, your insight, & your site. When I get depressed over what’s going on in politics, I visit your page for therapy. I’m not alone.
15@Carlo, true; you are not alone. JJ’s daily dose (or two or more) of common sense, delivered in a very clever and usually funny way, keeps some of us sane.
16Lucky for the country that the NRA doesn’t “have a financial interest in the area of” gun safety, isn’t it? But if they did I’m sure the brave Reps in Texas would be the first to expose and condemn it.
17Oh Carlo,
You said it perfectly. When I listen to about 5 minutes of the “morning news” or Morning Joe, I become so incensed (at 6:00 am, no less) that I immediately “click” to Juanita Jean. Saves me several times a day – the IGNORANCE, the STUPID, it makes me ILL~
18Dag gum! Y’all have taken back the lead in stoopid from us here in Ol’ Virginny. Thank God the general Assembly is still in session as we might have a chance to take it back.
