Fayette County is between Houston and Austin. County Commissioner James Kubecka up and switched parties last summer from Democratic to Republican because he felt he was more aligned with Republican values.
No shoot, Sherlock.
I do believe that he broke some sort of land crooked record – even for Republicans, which is saying something.

2So just so i’m clear on the etiquette of “strongly held beliefs” changing, does an elected official remain a Democrat until they are indicted and then switch to the GOP. I am confused!

9Juanita Jean, are you insinuating that this picadillo should register as a negative against the good commissioner? Considering the treatment of Republican candidates facing criminal charges in the recent elections, I would think he was pretty safe with a Republican base that is made up of those who don’t care or don’t understand,
