Pete Olson, My Congressvarmint

September 13, 2018 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

I don’t talk about my own personal congressman much because he’s a piece of furniture.  He’s not smart, he doesn’t say much, he hasn’t carried any legislation, and, bless his heart, I’ve seen better looking mud fences.  His only redeeming social value is that he replaced Tom DeLay so he’s not Tom DeLay.

His campaign slogan is, “Well, I’ve never heard of you either.”

Pete Olson

And my district is so red that Democrats don’t even run anybody with any gravitas against him.

Until this year.  I’m supporting Sri Preston Kulkarni for this seat and he’s being taken very seriously.  That means that Pete has to get out and campaign.  Bless his heart.

He blew it and got caught.

I live in the most diverse county in the nation. Pete was asked to speak at the India House to celebrate India’s Independence Day.  And out tumbled these words.

“September 11th, 2001: 3,000 innocent Americans were killed by terrorists from Pakistan,” Olson told the audience. “26 November 2008, Mumbai: Two solid days of killing by people trained in Pakistan.”

Pete said he misspoke.  It’s just coincidence that he misspoke about Pakistan in front of an Indian-American event.

Republicans are jerks.

Be social and share!

  1. Some one correct me if I’m wrong, but the 911 terrorists were from Saudi Arabia.

  2. Morley Bolero says:

    You’re not wrong.

  3. Credit where credit is due: Olson is able to comprehend the history of other nations, and what may be important to people that came from there. Or at least someone on his start can.

But the lying for hateful effect, that’s pure modern GOP…

  4. “The hijackers in the September 11 attacks were 19 men affiliated with al-Qaeda. 15 of the 19 were citizens of Saudi Arabia, and the others were from the United Arab Emirates (2), Egypt, and Lebanon.”

  5. Charles R Phillips says:

Might work, as many Indians don’t much like Pakistanis. Most are not free thinkers who’ve emmigrated to America, though, so it’s a wash. Gives him a bad rep for blowing his 9/11 history, in fact.

  6. If nothing else, Pete knows how to pander. On those rare occasions when he flaps his jaws around Clear Lake (even redder than Fort Bend) he always talks about playing basketball at Clear Lake High School and never fails to mention his old coach, Bill Krueger. Then he proceeds to say something really dumb, which never seems to bother the Clear Lake area NSGOP.

    6
  7. Maybe the Chronicle needs a new copy editor: “Olson has easily one his last four re-elections.”

    7
  8. W: “I beg to differ. Cheney assured me the hijackers were all from Iraq.”

  9. What a fine Republican Pete is, Keeping the hate up. Any hate will do, it’s always those other peoples fault for the problems. Ole Pete will blame the immigrants when he’s in front a white nativist group. To compare Olson with a prostitute is unfair, it is demeaning to street walking whores.

  10. Most Pakistanis are second, third, and fourth generation refugees from India after the partition. A moderate percentage of Hindus in India were forced out of what was then the two Pakistans. The anger and resentments here are akin to Israel/Palestine and possibly on a larger scale, though without one side totally dominating the other. This gives great opportunity for idiots to really stick their feet in their mouths.

  11. Gotta say that Sri’s got movie star good looks. Or a great photographer. If he’d like some #postcards to voters tell him to just ask. http://www.postcardstovoters.org

  12. Yeah, I agree that the best thing about Pete Olson is that he’s not Tom DeLay. He seems pretty useless otherwise, except when he sends me postcards with fake constituent surveys, which ask a few carefully worded questions (do you support Mom and apple pie?). I am excited to vote for both Beto and Sri.

Sometimes the Google algorithm gets it wrong, no, actually they don’t, it’s what happens when you click on the first lead and don’t look any further.

  14. Wow, Sri! Smart, well-educated, knows the issues, and darned good looking. Next time you talk about this race please post his photo, not Olson’s. LOL. Not trying to be superficial here, at all. No siree. Seriously, if Sri is elected to Congress, that would be yet one more POC, intelligent, dedicated, heck, *competent* person to add to the ranks. Oregon has 4 of 5 Congressional districts represents by Dems. The lone holdout is district 2 (my former district, huge, more rural & red with spots of blue), “represented” by Greg Walden, who is up there in Republican leadership. He has a strong, exceptional challenger this year, Jamie McLeod-Skinner who was recently profiled in the NYT. I don’t know if she’ll succeed, but it is a race to watch. Wish I could vote for her!
