Pay to Play Christian Style
Sometimes it warms my heart to see political corruption in other states. It sorta reminds me that I don’t live in the ninth circle of hell, just like the fifth or sixth.
It’s Wisconsin, where Michael Eisenga, the wealthy owner of American Lending Solutions, thinks he’s paying too much in child support. He hasn’t be able to find a judge who will lower it, so Eisnga is going one better. Emails between Eisenga’s lawyer and Wisconsin state representative Rep. Joel Kleefisch show that Eisenga was clearly writing the law to let himself off the hook for child support in exchange for campaign donations.
The fun part of this story is that Kleefisch is a religious right nut. He’s just a little bit better than you and he’ll remind you of that every chance he gets. Letting a guy who has made a fortune in the payday lending business by ripping off poor people buy you to get out of paying child support must be what Jesus would do, right? Otherwise a fine Christian man like Kleefisch wouldn’t do it, right?
I’m beginning to think that steeples on top of churches are a measuring stick to see if you can stack money that high.
Thanks to Ralph for the heads up.
Attention Marco Rubio, these two slime balls are making a mockery of your marriage/security proposal. Next plan, little trooper?
1I think you’re right, Susan, about stacking money as high as the steeple. What a flaming hypocrite.
2Examples of Repug chicanery abound in Family and Divorce court. This one represents a new low in deadbeat daddery.
3In PA, divorced or separated parents cannot be compelled to contribute to college tuition, even though the schools take both incomes into account. That was pushed through by the Repugs. That one hit this single mom and kids hard.
Religious right wingnuts are anti-woman: it’s the husband who’s the Leader in the family, and they’re sure divorced women (but not men) are wicked harlots who deserved to be divorced and left in the gutter. Women should have no rights, many of them think. No right to speak up, no right to vote, no right to a job, no right to equal pay if they have a job, no right to alimony or child support. Women, they believe, were created to serve men and their main duty is to be obedient, submissive, and diligent in keeping the house spotless.
Luckily, not all Christians are religious right wingnuts.
4I’d like Kleefisch to show us his copy of the New Testament. Once he’s removed the parts about moneychangers, sharing loaves and fishes, turning the other cheek, etc to match his philosophy of life, I would guess he has little more left than a pamphlet.
Like Cliff Notes, he keeps just enough to try to fool a few people.
5Typical Republican – privatized income/socialized debt.
Maybe this guy should have a long talk with his pastor about a father’s responsibility to the children HE brought into this world?
6Lorraine–Just about like everything else, the man has the right to choose to be a parent or not and the woman is guilty. I’m not at all sure what she’s guilty of or why, but she certainly is guilty if she thinks she has a right to choose.
7I’d say something about camels and needles’ eyes, but I’m so damn (sorry, mama) sick of “Christians” who never opened their “holy book” in their worthless little lives. Sometimes I wish there were a hell, just to wipe the smirk off their faces.
8Kleefisch’s wife is Lt Guv of Wisconsin if I remember correctly.
9Lucky he’s white, lucky he’s in Wisconsin. Here’s what happens to a black man in Texas who DOES pay his child support (hint- he goes to jail):

Wow! The day finally arrived after 20 years when I can accurately say that this guy is sleaze du jour!
There was one just like him recently in Congress. His daddy deadbeatness was well publicized. Even his Congressional colleagues had a word with him, but nope, no good! And he constantly professed his innocence and how put upon he was!
Oddly enough this deadbeat congressvarmint got his pix in the paper largely through something Congress funded some time ago. Lockheed Martin had the contract to use computers to trace and track down deadbeat dads!
I guess this is as close to poetic justice as it comes!

Rethugs go all out to defend child support cut. One says it’s good for children to struggle. The party of family values ain’t got values but they know what they value and that is money they want to deny children. Where’s god when you really need him/her/it?
12Rick-I’m guessing the new testament would burn his hand like holy water.
