Welcome to The World's Most Dangerous Beauty Salon, Inc.
My name is Susan DuQuesnay Bankston. I live in Richmond, Texas, in the heart of Tom DeLay's old district. It's nuttier than squirrel poop here.
I am honored and privileged to know Miss Juanita Jean Herownself, hairdresser extraordinary and political maven. Since she does not have time to fiddle with this internet stuff, I type her website for her and you can read it if you want to. If you don't, she truly does not give a big bear's butt.
A lot of what I post here has to do with local politics, but you probably have the same folks in your local government.
This ain't a blog. Blogs are way too trendy for me. This is a professional political organization.
Amen! What a tragic Friday night.
1This is so tragic. We visited Paris this summer, so it seems personal. Another reason we need to travel. We are in this together.
2F!!K!
3Yes prayers for Paris, but be alert and ready here and everywhere.
4It reminds me of a quote from ADM. William Halsey when he returned to Pearl after the Pearl Harbor attack.
“When this war is over, Japanese will be a language spoken only in Hell.”
To me, this speaks volumes about rage, and the consequences of acting on it. No single people should be exterminated, because far too many innocents get slaughtered along with the guilty. Temper the rage, channel it into ending a war instead of ending a culture.
5Reports are so confused I may wait until morning to see what the full story is, but I did see a count of the dead and injured. What struck me is that, in about five places, there were a total of 54 people in critical condition. I wish the best to them, and to the others injured, and wisdom and endurance to the hospital personnel. And solace and justice to the families and friends of the dead. Reports say all the active killers are dead, but someone somewhere else probably planned this.
6When I saw the first reports, caledl a friend who grew up in Paris and whose parents still live there. In fact, the parents just returned to Paris after visiting their two grandsons here in Austin. My friend had texted them, but hadn’t yet heard back. He was pretty sure they were OK because they typically were home before that time of night. Later he texted me that his parents were safe, but that their home is 200 yards from one of the attack sites.
Raw Story has a report on some of the truly despicable tweets posted by Republicans.

@austinhatlady
Please tell your French friend whose parents still live in Paris, France that we fully support our French cousins. We may disagree about the details but we know as Mary Beth said above, we are truly in this world together.
8Mon Dieu!
9Really sad to read this morning that ISIS had to export their brand of hate to innocent people in a faraway country. I don’t think this will turn out well for them. My thoughts go to the innocent victims in this nightmare.
Now waiting for the NRA to declare that if everyone in France carried a gun that no lives would be lost.
10To the friends and families of senseless violence, there are no words to express our condolences. May you find solace in your memories of your loved ones.
To the whores of 24/7 cable news, there are no words to express our outrage with your complicity in encouraging senseless violence. Some of you did more last night to support ISIL than Dubya did in 8 years.
There is a line between the “public right to know,” “journalistic freedom of speech,” and flat out being st00pid cheerleaders for violence. You decide.
11Vive La France!
12Saw this link to a story describing how ISIS came about because of messianic prophecies the radicals believed were fulfilled by the Iraq War, so–another medal for Darth Cheney:

14The saddest part in all of this is pretty much covered by Jim Wright’s @ http://www.stonekettle.com/2015/11/the-price-of-civilization.html
Prayers for the innocent victims and for all of us.
15IronCelt: The only way I can describe what’s going on in Islam is this: it’s a family feud. After the Prophet died it all started. Who would be the “inherited” leader of Islam? That argument has been going on for 1,300 years. ISIS or ISIL (whatever) is the latest version of the argument. And as long as there are people who believe in this “inheritance” theory this violence will continue. And everyone suffers because of it. But Islam more than anyone. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
16One of the wiser MSNBC commenters said we must not resort to mass attacks that kill innocent civilians in Iraq or elsewhere because ISIL welcomes that as an effective recruiting tool. Makes sense to me.
I live in a suburb of the Minnesota metro, home to the largest Muslim community in the US. There have been no attacks here and the local folks, some of whom I know, cringe at these terrorist attacks because they will be viewed with greater suspicion. I worry about them. Please do keep them in your prayers too.
In reality, the Minnesotans who are Muslim are a very helpful and important resource for this nation. They deplore ISIL at least as much as any other Americans.
17Might just as well hear from the cheap shot seats-

18Best reply to anyone who blames the Syrian refugees for this: “These are the people they’re trying to get away from!”
Debbo, while I was watching the endless TV coverage on 9/11, I thought, “A lot of innocent people have died… and a lot of innocent people are going to die because of this.” True in every war.
19From France November 2001
http://www.worldpress.org/1101we_are_all_americans.htm
The French press said, at the time, “We Are All Americans”. Since 11/13/2015, I say “We Are All French”.
As you deal with this in whatever way you chose, remember too the first responders that night in Paris. I have seen amateur video and photographs on CNN today: they did their EMT, fire and police jobs in this chaos. In doing so they relied on their training to get them past what their emotions could not in that instant comprehend.
20Kind of like my good friend who works all night taking emergency calls that often leave her in tears but at the time she is tough and capable.
21“We are all French” until some low-life wants a cheap shot at a culture they think effete. This is the season, not for jingle bells but for “jingo, jingo, jingo all the way”.
