Take a deep breath. Republicans on the House Ways and Means Committee are begging Democrats not to subpoena Trump’s tax returns even though they used raw power to go after Barack Obama.
“Transparency in our government is enormously important, but must be undertaken with appropriate care,” Reps. Kevin Brady (R-Texas) and Mike Kelly (R-Pa.) wrote in a Thursday letter to Ways and Means Committee Chairman Richard Neal (D-Mass.).
Brady says we should “come together” for a “thoughtful solution.”
There’s a hearing on Thursday and I will tell you one damn thing: Republicans better show up with more than beg and a promise to be “thoughtful.” They claim that Democrats are “weaponizing” the tax code. Oh hell yeah. Trump helped roll back the Obama restrictions against pay day lenders today and there – right there – is weaponizing usury laws.

I think I’m falling in love with Michelle Lujan Grisham, the new Democratic Governor of New Mexico.
A few days ago, she announced that she would withdraw National Guard Troops from the border. After Trump’s SOTU, she went further …
She elaborated during a news conference on Wednesday. “I’m not going to participate, nor do I think it’s appropriate in any shape or fashion to use the National Guard to attempt to militarize the border where we’re dealing with asylum seekers who their constitutional rights continue to be breached,” Lujan Grisham said, according to CNN.
Elections have consequences. Grisham replaced Republican Susana Martinez.
And as a reminder, she tweeted a former campaign video of what she thinks about Trump’s wall.

And then talking about his speech last night, Trump opined …
“It was very important, I think, for me to get up and say some powerful words and some loving words and some words of compromise. The speech, I think, has been well received,” he said.
But not important enough to mean any of it.
Trump’s idea of compromise is: “I get to do something and you get to like it.”
Y’all, seriously.
Virginia sank deeper into political turmoil Wednesday when another top Democrat — Attorney General Mark Herring — admitted putting on blackface in the 1980s, when he was a college student.
With Gov. Ralph Northam’s career in peril over a racist photo in his 1984 medical school yearbook, Herring issued a statement saying he wore brown makeup and a wig in 1980 to look like a rapper during a party as a 19-year-old at the University of Virginia.
These events were in the 80’s. They full-well knew better.
They both need to step down and let there be a special election.
Okay, now it’s the Lt. Governor. He has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman. However, this alone is all the proof I need that he’s gotta go —

The Washington Post has come out with a list of “30 Dubious Claims” in Trump’s speech last night.
They did not, however, include his claim that he’s President or the one where he said the word “comity.” He cannot say the word comity. It should not be able to come out of his mouth.
