  1. Polite Kool Marxist says:

Texas, my hopes are with you tonight! Keep the best Democratic Chair, ever, Donald W. Bankston! And, show Loathsome Crooze the door. May said door hit him multiple times on his way out. TIA, Texas!

    1
  2. daChipster says:

Early immediate Virginia call for Hillary. One less game changer available to Bernie.

Kasich and Rubio challenging in VT and VA, respectively. Oh, really?

    2
  3. e platypus onion says:

Sounds like plenty of election hassles in Texas and Georgia and some other southern fried wingnut strongholds.

    3
  4. daChipster says:

Bernie to speak early? Trying to catch some Z’s? or nothing worth staying up for? Man, I hope it’s just Bernie being unorthodox.

    4
  5. JAKvirginia says:

Fingers crossed for Bubba. C’mon, Texas! Don’t you know good when you see it?

    5
  6. daChipster says:

Two boards in Bernie’s firewall of five are too early to call at 8 PM

    6
  7. daChipster says:

Cruz is winning the Red River Primary: TX, OK and close in AR.

    7
  8. Sandridge says:

Pretty good NYT Texas National race results page (updates, by county maps, crosstabs, etc.; and just the data, no bullcarp all over the page like your local teevee webpages).
Of course the NYT has all the other states too.

    http://www.nytimes.com/elections/results/texas

Sadly, it’s Creepy, ~40%, by ~10% points over tRump, ~30%, (not too impressive…he’s toast nationally…), Marcobot distant third- ~19%.
HRC 2 to 1 over Bernie.

    8
  9. Sandridge says:

OK, who will be toothy Trumpest’s VP pick?

I’ll guess it’ll be ‘Wall Street John’ Kasich…
    .

Hillary’s VP? (is the Big Dawg eligible?)

    9
  10. daChipster says:

Seeing the Outlaw Jersey Whale standing at his elbow I realized: Trump has found his Goerring.

    10
  11. Sandridge says:

    dC,
Trump will export airlift the Joisee Whale to the Tokyo Whalemeat Market as quick he can.

    11
  12. JAKvirginia says:

    Sandridge:
    Trump: Air Force I
    Christie: C-5 Galaxy Cargo

    12
  13. Juanita Jean says:

Guys, Bubba lost but thank you for your support. He was a victim of demographics. An experienced and respected jurist lost worst than Bubba did, and a well financed candidate for Railroad Commissioner got embarrassed at the polls.

I’m leaving ya’ll to DaChipster for a few days while I heal up. See ya soon pitching fits and snorting.

    13
  14. My caucus in metro Minnesota was lots of fun. It appeared to be fairly evenly split between Hillary and Bernie supporters. Because it’s caucuses, results will be very slow. With a little luck we may hear something by 10:00pm Central.

My Democratic caucus was held in a public high school 4 blocks from my home. Between are 2 blocks of McMansions. Lots of BMWs, Jags, Mercedes and Land Rovers were parked there. Of course. One of those ugly houses was the site for snacilbupeR caucuses. So appropriate, don’t you think? Damn snacilbupeR. Ugh.

    14
  15. My condolences on the loss to Bubba, JJ, and all his supporters.

    15
  16. i’m heart broken for Texas without Bubba leading the Dems. So sorry JJ……and all.

    16
  17. Sandridge says:

    JAKvirginia,
Even better for the NJ Whale (what’s with CC sniffing around Trumpf’s butt on those press confs?)–
    Aero Spacelines Super Guppy:
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aero_Spacelines_Super_Guppy
    .
    .

    JJ,
I worry for the long term prospects of the TX Democratic Party.

    17
  18. Hillary said “America never stopped being great”

    http://www.cnn.com/videos/politics/2016/03/02/hillary-clinton-super-tuesday-speech-miami-sot.cnn

It may be that she has uttered the Dem message. I have changed my personal email signature to that message. I will get a bumper sticker with that quote as soon as a Texas Dem can provide them. Don’t you just smell the blood in the water????

    18
  19. 1smartcanerican says:

I was so hoping that Cruz would not win in Texas 🙁 OTOH, I truly hope that Don Blankston is successful! 🙂

    19
  20. maryelle says:

Bubba is still the greatest in my humble opinion.

    20
  21. Just in on MSNBC – MarcoRobot is leading snacilbupeR caucuses in MN.

Democratic caucuses – too close to call. I believe that.

ON MSNBC Chris Matthews talked to Tom Delay (urp). Delay flatly rejects Drumpf and says they won’t let him be the nominee at the convention.

To that I say, Go ahead! Totally destroy your party! If the rank and file were anti-insiders, they’ll totally hate the snacilbupeR leadership after that.

    21
  22. JAKvirginia says:

Sandridge: Agree. Guppy is perfect but USAF doesn’t have one. I guess he’ll just hafta whine until Hair Furor buys him one. Or stay home.

    22
  23. JAKvirginia says:

I wanted to comment about Trump winning…

    QUIET!!!…. Shhhhh…..

    Hear that sound?

It’s the sound of sh*t hitting the proverbial fan.

This is gonna get good…. teeheehee….

    23
  24. Local MN tv is saying Bernie and Roboto won.

Turnout in MN was overwhelming! Record breaking! MN has a long record of political participation. Lines at the caucuses were very, very long. People waited 2+ hours to cast their votes. Ballots were all used and new ones crated on the fly. Woo-hoo!

Meantime, there is a renewed push for a primary in MN, rather than caucuses. Primaries would provide an entire day to vote, rather than trying to cram it all in in 2-4 hours. I favor primaries, even though caucuses are fun. Primaries would provide for even greater participation.

    24
  25. Sandridge says:

    JAKvirginia,
On CBS earlier Charly Rose interviewed Mz. Lindsey G, wow, was Mz. L wound up on Trump. S/He predicted that Hillary will be POTUS #45 without a doubt and the Repukes were doomed, doomed, doomed…it’s already mighty good (although I still think the ‘Pukes will pull it out come Nov).

    25
  26. daChipster says:

The RU-B0 insult comic droid has gotten off the schneid and won the Minnesota contest after all.

    26
  27. I just want to see the horrified Dr. Frankensteins of the GOP oust Trump so that his followers either vote for him as a third candidate or stay home, leaving the field wide open to the Dems.

    27
  28. Marion (formerly known as MM) says:

I am sad and bummed about Lon Burnam not making it to the runoff in the Texas Railroad Commissioner’s race. He’s a true blue environmentalist and the TX RR Commission rules over oil and gas (don’t ask why it’s called the RR Commission).

    28
  29. BarbinDC says:

JJ, something I’ve unfortunately learned is that the “uninformed” voters usually vote against their own interests inadvertently.

Unfortunately, we cannot give any kind of test to would-be voters to make sure they know exactly what they are voting for.

    Which explains the Trump phenomenon.

    29
  30. daChipster, I’m disappointed at the MN results, but maybe Roboto’s win will keep the Drumpf, Oozy Croozy, Roboto clown car rolling, exposing the snacilbupeR to further ridicule.

I’m a Hillary supporter, and I’m disappointed there too. It’s not that Bernie won, but the margin is much bigger than I expected. Of course, as more results come in and numbers are more closely crunched, that margin may narrow, but not much. At the moment, it’s over 10 points. Argh.

    30
  31. Prup (aka Jim Benton) says:

My regrets as well about Bubba’s loss. Had more to say, but not a good day physically. More tomorrow — especially once I’m able to see the crosstabs.

    31
  32. Marge Wood says:

Scootch over, JJ. We can share this giant box of tissues. I don’t know how anyone gets over being a candidate. Hug Bubba for me. You can borrow our orange cat to sleep on top of you if you need him.
MM, I was wondering about Lon. I’m disappointed to hear that too. He is so great. Didn’t he kinda start at the last minute or did I just not notice?
How’d Rebecca Bell Metereau do? and that nutty lady running for school board in east Texas, I hope she didn’t win.
How about the guys running for Naishtat’s old seat?
Well, I just wandered over here to see how things were going. If I focus maybe I can finish putting the hem back in my hubby’s slacks and read the new novel by Sara Paretsky. Yawwnnn. Love and hugs all around,
    Marge

    32
  33. Ralph Wiggam says:

We lost some important battles last night, but the war is not over. The highlights of the evening for me were the announcement by Ms. Graham that Clinton was a sure thing in November and the announcement by Peggy Noonan that we were witnessing the end of the Republican party.

    RIP GOP

    33
  34. e platypus onion says:

Rumour has it Trump picked Elizabeth Warren as his veep.

    34
  35. Marcia in CO says:

Well, it seems Colorado picked Bernie …

    35
  36. Annabelle Lee says:

I’m sorry Bubba’s valiant effort did not result in a win – sorrier for the constituents he would have served.

People often want things that are not good for us, and avoid things we need.

    36
  37. Let’s recap. Hillary won a gaggle of inconsequential states for her for the general election, one of which I have lived in most of my life. Bernie won several swing stares. This ain’t over by a long shot, despite the fondest wishes of the Village.

    37
  38. Hugs to JJ and her Bubba. Where can we link to find out the entire conclusion to that county race? There’s a story behind this story!

Had to hit the hay early last night so I did not stay up for the counts in all the states. We had a beautiful day here and I foolishly did yard work! Consequently when I flipped on the TV I saw a video of Van Jones and some R turkey going at it over racism with the turkey swearing that tRump is not racist and Van Jones was the only one playing the race card. The turkey lost that argument. I have a hunch this is going viral and if you all have a chance to see it, do so. It could make your day!

    38
  39. Annabelle Lee says:

On the other side of things, and cover your ears, Mama – can you people not do anything, politically speaking, in Texas that is not completely batsh*t crazy?

    http://www.texastribune.org/2016/03/02/newly-elected-gop-chair-texas-capitol

The new GOP chair… well, I can’t say he’s wrong on all counts, at least with regards to his own party.

    39
  40. treehugger says:

Sadly, my district for Dallas City Council (said council has been the Clown Car pretty much since I’ve lived here) reelected the long-term hot-tempered, under indictment by the FBI, currently serving council member. The other front-runner was another hot-tempered, been arrested for domestic violence, candidate. The 2 recently got into a literal boxing match in a debate. Alas, the one person who seems like he could truly represent our district in a responsible, civil manner got nowhere. I don’t get it. I don’t get it. Maybe our district feels that the unfortunately continuing councilman has been unfairly hounded by the FBI and has taken pity. Sad that Lon didn’t win as well.

    40
  41. Fred Ferkleshine says:

Does anyone know how to find out how many registered Republican voters there are in Texas? No matter how I Google the words, nothing comes up!

    41
  42. Fred Ferkleshine says:

    Maggie,
You’re right, the white-boy’s name is Jeffery Lord and here’s the video!

    http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/jeffrey-lord-van-jones-cnn_us_56d667cbe4b0871f60ed365a

    42
  43. Uncle Dave says:

Fred, there are no registered Republican voters in Texas. Neither are there registered voters in the Democratic or Green parties. We don’t register by party in Texas, and for decades Republicans voted in the Democratic primary each spring, only to switch in the fall. Back in the 60s the Dallas Morning Snooze would print editorials urging Republicans to continue voting in the Democratic primary as a means of keeping control of politics in the hands of the right.

    43
  44. Zyxomma says:

    Hugs to JJ and Bubba.

    44
  45. Polite Kool Marxist says:

Texas Democrats, our hearts are with you. Mr. & Mrs. Bankston, our hugs to you, while you catch your breath, then return stronger than ever in your efforts to turn Texas BLUE.

There’s nothing we can say about Texas snacilbupeR that wouldn’t inspire Mama to special order a baseball bat made of soap.

    45
  46. When or when will someone publicly ask tRump what he would do with Trump Inc if he were president. Ten to one he has not figured on putting his assets into a blind trust for someone else to run. He claims to be a total hands on type. I think he would rather get pulled over broken glass than let go of Trump Inc. in any form inasmuch as he would consider anyone else running it to be a natural born loser because its not HIM! I want to hear how he squeaks his way out of that narrative!

    46
  47. Polite Kool Marxist says:

maggie, before Drumpf answers if he would trust Duh-Reich or Donnie Dim with the family fortune, I want to hear his “thanks” to $carah Palin. His loss in Alaska will hopefully drive a stake through the silly notion that anyone should ever give that quitter gov a mic. May she spend the rest of her days pulling a dogsled to nowhere (with apologies to hard working sled dogs everywhere.)

    47
  48. So sorry to hear Bubba lost.

    48
  49. treehugger says:

OMG, y ‘all, check out this new GOP chairman in Travis County! I’m speechless with horror.

    http://www.texastribune.org/2016/03/02/newly-elected-gop-chair-texas-capitol/

    49
  50. Love to JJ and Bubba…….

TX needs another revolution to rid your state of creatures like the GOP chairman of Travis County…….good heavens the mouth on him…….surely there must be hidden dirt on him…….someone needs to dig….
