Okay, There Will Be A Vote
Steny Hoyer issued this statement today —
House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., met with Greene on Tuesday evening in his Capitol office. He offered no immediate comment following the discussion.
“I spoke to Leader McCarthy this morning, and it is clear there is no alternative to holding a Floor vote on the resolution to remove Rep. Greene from her committee assignments,” Hoyer said in a statement Wednesday.
Vote and be done with it, guys.
I tell ya what. If Greene can explain to us all who King Leonidas and Xerxes are and why she is on the wrong side of this analogy, I’ll eat the wrapper and throw away the Twinkie.
Thanks to Chloe Bear for the heads up.
If Q-she is chucked out, can she try again later?
Besides which, will her district get the message of
1“No Nutjobs”…
It makes me harken back to the days when we had Kinky Friedman, Strahorn, and Bell on the ballot against Rick Perry. 40 percent voted for Perry and the remaining 60 divided their vote. Yet, they all were voting against Rick Perry. In this case there really was no opponent in the general and too many seekers in the primary.
Party politics is definitely not democratic (small D) and doesn’t have to be. Maybe the parties need to exercise more control and bar people from running. It’s not enough for McCarthy and Salise to say they didn’t support her in the primary. Someone in the party needs to step up and say they can’t run.
2As if the fire needs more fuel:
Marjorie Taylor Greene Was a Moderator of a Facebook Group Featuring Death Threats and Racist Memes
It promoted assorted conspiracy theories—and even the John Birch Society.

3These nuts just want to suck up valuable air time just like their dear leader. I agree, vote and separate the sheep from the goats!
4I agree- get her off any committees, especially involving kids education. If she resigned on her own, ok, but if she’s forced out of the house she becomes another martyr like the big orange one.
5As long as she stays in and keeps spewing crazy stuff, I think it serves to drive more away from the repugnican party. Those that continue to support her in congress become as crazy as her. Her followers can’t really get any more crazy so why bother worrying about them.
Anything to get her off the Ed. Committee. She’s no crazier than the other Rs on Budget, AFAIK.
6Never mind the committees, when is Twitter going to throw her off? If they don’t she’ll just whine more about being a victim.
7McCarthy announced repugnicans will do nothing about greene comparing her to Maxine Waters and Eric Swalwell. Here we go.
8And tonight, House repugnicans gave taylor greene a standing ovation? Any question about the Q-influence takeover of their party, regardless of the bullshit statements by mccarthy saying she doesn’t represent their party? It’s like a Trumpf-greene ticket coming down the escalator. Good luck with that mcconnell.
9Obviously, MTG has not embarrassed herself enough while she’s been a member of Congress to get to an expulsion resolution (which calls for a 2/3rds majority). But the Republican caucus can pull her off committees OR she can be censured by a majority vote of the whole House and lose committee seats. Seems like a slam dunk as I’ve not read of any Democratic defense of her.
Perhaps, in the name of “unity” appearances, a few Democrats can “trade” their vote with a few Republicans, making it clear the rejection of MTG is not a purely partisan vote.
10Steve from Beaverton @9 …
in the changing world of the GOP’s representation to the world, I’ve been impressed by a couple of people who started using “ReQublican.”
Seems particularly apt … with Trump going away, the group has lost a major association with pee, and with MTG and Cawthorn and Boebert coming in, the Q has become much more prominent.
11John @ 10- the repugnicans (or ReQublicans) have clearly stated they are taking no action against greene so it will likely be just a majority vote by Democrats to take her off committees. Then she’ll be the darling martyr of the party.
12Old Fart @1: I remember Adam Clayton Powell, Jr., who was kicked out of congress by the Democratic Party in 1967 for alleged corruption (and being black). In the next election the good people of Haarlem voted him back into office with an overwhelming majority, an explicit statement that they did not want the Democratic Party hierarchy telling them who could represent them.
While MTG is a great example of the scum rising to the surface, I don’t think she should be kicked out of Congress until convicted of some crime. Yanking away her committee assignments definitely should be done. Right now, however, the Republican party is running scared from the mob they’ve roused, and will publicly stand behind her. If anything Cheney is the one who will be sent to the re-education camps. Look for her to come back with tears in her eyes, muttering “I love Big Brother”.
