Oh Yeah

July 29, 2013 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

Well, it seems that Cumulus Radio is dropping both Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity like spit off a tall building.

The right is spinning it as contract negotiation problems and not that Rush and Sean are getting on everybody’s nerves.  That’s kinda true, but the contract negotiations include the fact that Cumulus CEO Lew Dickey reported “a $2.4 million first-quarter decline in revenue related to talk programming, which he attributed, indirectly, to Limbaugh’s remarks about [Sandra] Fluke.”

Here’s the deal.  When you lean on advertisers and they feel the pinch and withdraw their advertising, that means Cumulus loses money with advertisers withdrawing.  They try to find out what’s causing them to lose money and they hack it off.  In this case, it was Rush Limbaugh.

So the sweet irony of it all is that Rush Limbaugh got killed by free enterprise.

That is very cool.

  1. I’ve never listened to either of these two whack-o idiots … only seen/heard any of their antics on Jon Stewart or Steven Colbert’s shows … Lordy, lordy, that was enough for me!

Good riddance to both!! They are both huge boils on the butt of the Earth!!

  2. Some stories just have the capacity to make you happy. This one, rates pretty high on the bliss meter!

Why not drop them now, instead of at the end of the year? After all, they recognized a $2.4 million drop in advertising revenues in the first quarter of this year and most likely will have a similar drop in revenues the second quarter. We’re already a third of the way through the third quarter with another quarter to go before they fix the cause of their advertising decline? They’re prepared to lose close to $10 million this year by keeping those two hate mongers on the radio? Anywhere else in business, they would have handed those two their hats already. The simple fact that they haven’t dropped them is a sure sign it’s all posturing.

Speaking of boils on butts, check out how chickenhawk Rushbo avoided going off to the Vietnam war, which he has ardently supported.

Rumors are H and L could be replaced by Michael Savage,Mark Levin and/or Huckabee. Not an improvement as far as I’m concerned.

  9. Watch both of them do the martyr thing! Despite their wealth, I would bet neither of them start their own network. It would be too much work and it would very likely impoverish (!!!) them. Well, shucks, studs! Oprah did it!

  10. While we are talking about sponsors, be aware that AARP runs ads with him.

  11. Miss Prissybritches says:

And there has been a big petition campaign online with AARP to drop Rushbutt like a hot potato, too. Guess maybe Cumulus heard rumblings that AARP was gonna give them the bum’s rush, too. Icing on the cake… and good riddance.

    11
  12. They will be replaced by RW whack os JUST AS BAD. Prepare to do this all over again…..

    12
  13. I am delighted, but I must point out this does not stop them from being aired, just that Cumulus in its 40 markts will not.

So…not Hallelujah, but a great start.

    13
  14. The replacement guys are just as konservative and just as nasty, but much cheaper and they come with less baggage.

In other words, this is konservative outsourcing.

  15. Clear Channel has a contract with Limbaugh that runs for a while. Clear Channel is losing money now and these losses will increase if Cumulus Radio drops Limbaugh. Even if Cumulus Radio decides to continue to carry Limbaugh, it will be at a reduced rate which will still impact Clear Channel. The real loser in this mess will be Clear Channel. Limbaugh’s contract with Clear Channel will continue for a while with increasing losses to Clear Channel

I have to rejoice at the success of the boycott of those sponsors. Even though there will be hateful successors, those two need to know how a great many people feel about them.

Um, it is my considered opinion that it can’t be worse than Rush Limbaugh. It is not possible. He personally has done more than any single non-politician I can think of to divide our nation and set us against one another, and his motivation is personal gain. Rupert Murdoch is next in line, and also motivated by greed. Dick Cheney is the politician who has done the most to bring us to ruin. If any of you have opinions about his motivations, I would welcome them. My smarter half says he’s a zealot and American Exceptionalism is his religion. My opinion is that Cheney is a greedy little ba$t–d too.

  18. The current contract dispute is between Cumulus and Clear Channel. Clear Channel has a $400 million contract with Limbaugh that runs through 2016 and is stuck paying Limbaugh even if he is not on the air. If Cumulus drops Limbaugh, Clear Channel still has to pay Rush and may try to cover or mitigate its damages by airing Rush’s program on other stations with lower ratings and ad rates https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B2t0vp80CwOPUjVDVXBYbEo1S0k/edit?usp=sharing&pli=1

The controversial radio host has a $400 million contract with Clear Channel Communications which runs through 2016, and sources say the contact leaves very little in the way of an out for the media giant. In other words, even if Clear Channel were to decide that Limbaugh’s drag on ad revenue had gone on long enough, they would likely have to pay him the remainder of his contract to cut him loose. A much more likely scenario has Clear Channel putting Limbaugh on its own stations in markets where Cumulus removes him and limping along for as long as possible.

    18
  19. I just had a sickening thought: When Rush Limbaugh leaves radio, he’s going to go into politics. This whole burst of information about Clear Channel will give him the opportunity to prime his listeners to donate to “investigate the possibility” of his running. After that, he’ll have his fan base as supporters, all ready to donate to his campaign.

He’ll say his millions of supporters begged him to do it. He’ll be a megalomaniac on a well-funded campaign trail.

    I may have nightmares tonight.

  20. You gotta watch this group and see what they come back with. Mitt forever? Remember his group bought out this group 3-4 years ago. They are demanding some repayment from what I’ve read. Could be just vacationing the big mouths. They have extensive contracts, but i wish they cooould see the damage they have really done. But they aree too blind, to see.

If you have not watched Rush’s shows on Sandra Fluke, you should. Just do it on an empty stomach. He slanderously (literally) attacked, mischaracterized everything she said, called her a slut, and gleefully said she should post pictures of herself having sex on the internet for his enjoyment because he was “paying for her to have sex.” Disgusting as this bilge is his “dittohead” followers repeated this crap as the gosipel truth. Few people bothered to actually watch her testimony or note that virtually everything Rush said was FACTUALLY wrong. Instead the whole conversation was shifted to “I’m not paying for those dirty sluts to have sex.” This man is disgusting and dangerous. If he had been talking about MY daughter I would have horse whipped the blubbery hide off him.
