Oh Thank You, Louie!
Just when you’re wondering why Louie Gohmert hasn’t been heard from in a while, your dreams come true.
He’s speaking and – oh cherry on top! – he’s praising Sarah Palin!
Remember when Sarah Palin said she could see Russia from her house? So does Louie. And, what with all this stuff going on in the Crimea, Louie thinks Sarah had a crystal ball when she said that thing about seeing Russia.
Although all Sarah really said is that you could see Russia from some islands in Alaska, Tina Fey made it famous with the joke on Saturday Night Live. Louie admits he laughed at the joke, but he is oh holy crap serious about making a record of it. He wants it put in the damn Congressional Record.
Now get this!
“I just wanted to set the record straight so people will understand and the Congressional Record will properly reflect how prescient that Sarah Palin has been in the past,” Gohmert explained on the House floor.
Prescient? Does he know what that means? Is he calling Sarah a clairvoyant? Ain’t that unchristian?
You know, Sarah said that Russia stuff 5 years ago. Hell, watch this: Italy. There, I said Italy. Sometime in the next 5 years, Italy is going to be in the news.
Honey, do you want to talk prescient? John A. Kwitkoski sent me this about an hour ago:
Thanks to Lorraine In Spring and, of course, John, for the heads up.
The Crinea was part of the Ukraine, not Russia. Sarah missed it again!
1The Republican Party Howler Monkees – ROFLMAO!
2Y’know, John K is a jewel! So GLAD he is a salon regular!
3John is such a genius. Awesome graphic.
Sarah claims she predicted that Russia would invade the Ukraine if Obama was elected President, implying they would see him as weak. Of course she ignored Russia’s invasion of Georgia during Dubya’s (mission accomplished) reign of terror.
4.
I didn’t go as far as Tony, but I did almost choke on my drink when I got to the line with the special guests. John, I am in awe!
5Oh Loopy Louie, do Texas a favor and do the best thing Palin ever did for Alaska, quit.
C-SPAN, get your self respect back and show used car ads, whenever this idiot swallows a Congressional mic. Just bleep the tape and send it over to Jon Stewart for proper editing.
6Great graphic.
7There’s a show I’d pay money not to see. In fact, I’m going to pay money hoping that I don’t have to see it for much longer.
8Unfortunately, Louie is unlikely to quit on his own, PKM. He needs the money too badly and slops up whatever he can from a Congressional paycheck.
9Don’t you think you should get a block of tickets for all of us so we can go see the show together? And maybe we’ll get a discount.
10John, you are a true artistic genius! What would the Salon ever do without you?!? Still laughing.
11The denizens of the pond(c4p) have a post up about Louie and his rant. They seem to think it’s a good thing.
Great graphic John, thanks for the loan of your talent.
12Ahem . . . feces throwing howler monkeys.
13I’m with Marge. Let’s all go & throw popcorn at the screen!
Ya know, some day in the future, people will read the Congressional Record and write books about this time in American history. Then Libraries won’t know whether to file them under non-fiction or fiction. Maybe science fiction. Or a new category – the “Good Lord, These People Have Lost Their Minds” section.
I’m leaving a memo to the great grandkids to read all about it.
14I bought a bunch of books through the years to document what has been going on. You think anyone is writing books about Gohmert and Cruz and their kind? Now when I look at books I look in the index for Cruz, Ted. and Koch brothers. Check out books by Thom Hartmann. One good news book is the one by Kate Galbraith, THE GREAT TEXAS WIND RUSH, full of folks I knew back in the day. Wind and solar power are still growing. I think it’s exciting. Jobs jobs jobs. And help keep the air and water clean. I just found out last night that San Antonio has solar cell manufacturing. Austin could do that too, as could other places. Sorry, I get carried away. If you have a municipal utility right now is a good time to go make noise about conservation and renewables at their hearings. Lots of noise. Solar and wind rush. Yes!
15i love gohmert S. pile! the entertainment never stops…..
16Great graphic!
17and that ‘do is rather nice on Michele – maybe she could take up a career as a good looking babe in film noire!
Brilliant, John. Thank you, thank you!
18@Marge Wood, yes! I live in NYC, where I MUST choose an electrical service company (ESCO), or Con Edison will choose one for me. For years, I used Sterling Planet (wind and small hydro). I quit them 3-4 years ago for Green Mountain Wind, because they reinvest their profits into more turbines. Do what you can!
