Oh Rick, Being a Bully Ain’t Cute

June 14, 2013 By: Juanita Jean Herownself Category: Uncategorized

The Quorum Report has brought us gleeful news today. Remember how I told you about how Rick Perry was trying to force the beleaguered Travis County DA to resign so he could appoint one of his buddies to the job who would then shut down public integrity investigations of his other buddies?

Well, it appears that I’m not the only one who thinks that is extortion.

The campaign finance watchdog group Texans for Public Justice announced today that it has filed an official complaint with the Travis County District Attorney and County Attorney, asking them to look into whether Gov. Rick Perry broke the law in threatening to veto funding for the Public Integrity Unit unless Travis County DA Rosemary Lehmberg resigns her job.

Texans for Public Justice sent a letter contending that Rick Perry broke the damn law with that little stunt.

They say the Governor engaged in official oppression, coercion of a public servant and abuse of official capacity. In Texas, that’s called Tuesday.

Be social and share!

One thing about Big Egos and Narcissists (see Donald Trump, Tom DeLay, Rush Limbaugh, etc…) is there’s always someone out there who is smarter than they are. When exposed, they panic, their id takes over, and they end up looking/sounding like a moron.

And, if we’re lucky, some will go to jail.

    Whine away, Rick Perry.

Somebody go up to Ft. Worth and tell Ronnie Earle to give the DA in Austin some advice.

  4. This is typical Rick Perry behavior. Sociopaths believe they are not accountable to anyone. I expect Travis County DA Lehmberg to eventually resign and Perry will have one of his pals appointed in that position. Nothing much will occur other than a short-lived ruckus.

  7. As of Wednesday, they were trying to pin a hit-and-run charge on her in the court of public opinion, even though the news station I was watching made it clear that she’d been cleared of the allegation at the time of the event. Didn’t stop the news station from running her “drunk test” video in the background as they reported it.

I bet Perry’s camp released the allegation in an anonymous leak to the press just to put more pressure on DA Lehmberg. Even before the Public Integrity Unit funding came up, when DA Lehmberg was first arrested, there were people pleading with her to not resign so that her position couldn’t be appointed.

Holding funding hostage disgusted me so much that I actually put pen to paper and wrote a handwritten note to the Governor on my views. I also told him I liked being proud of my fellow Ags but that he was making it real difficult lately. I used my return address label with the A&M logo it on the envelope. We’ll see if I get anything more than a form letter in return.

  8. Well, I am sorry to report that we have something else to use against Perry in any future campaigns: The jassack vetoed the Texas Equal Pay bill this afternoon. Boy, I hope that really bad decision comes back and bites him right in his arrogant butt.

Perry thinks that it’s ethical to NOT pay folks fairly? or to buy American made products? or to sell out our state to other countries? or to chase protesters in wheelchairs from his office?
I’m not in favor of drunk driving but honey. Rosemary’s behaving ethically. He ain’t.

  10. Elsie, Thanks for the info, even though it is appalling. My mom and I have both been paid less than male counterparts in technical jobs and done equal if not better work than our higher paid coworkers. Frustrating.

I guess the whole “kinder and gentler GOP” notion isn’t getting much traction in Texas. Good; if they were really trying to better their image, they might be a force to be reckoned with in 2014/2016.

As it stands, Rick Perry will become the face of an increasingly crazy, vicious and corrupt Texas GOP, and the sky WILL fall in on them all. Just hope it takes Ted Cruz with ’em.

  12. Goodhair did a line item veto of the funding for the Travis County prosecutors who investigate government fraud and public corruption http://www.texastribune.org/2013/06/14/senator-perry-vetoed-equal-pay-bill/

Yeah, there’s always someone out there that’s smarter than Rick Perry. Indeed, if he were the last man on Earth, many of the plants would be smarter than Rick Perry…

  14. Charles Phillips says:

So…calling him “Cabbage Head” might be a truthful statement instead of a slur?

    Good to know.

  15. maryelle says:

Perry, as most Republican men, is living in a parallel world circa 1950, where women stay home and wait hand and foot on men, who do the important work and run the world. They want to turn back the clock, undo civil rights, equal pay, marriage equality, suffrage for women and minorities and most of all control female sexuality. The problem is, they are not nearly smart enough and soon they will have to understand that they are the minority.
