Oh Kobach, You Fail So Daintily
Kris Kobach, the former head of Trump’s Voter Fraud panel, which lasted about the same length of time as a donut at a cop convention, is all covered in misery right now.
Kris W. Kobach, the secretary of state in Kansas and face of the Trump administration’s efforts to clamp down on supposed voter fraud, was found by a federal judge on Wednesday to have disobeyed orders to notify thousands of Kansans in 2016 that they were registered to vote.
People in Kansas can register to vote when they get a driver’s license. A court ruled that Kobach was supposed to send a postcard to people notifying them that they were registered to vote and the location of their voting poll. It must have slipped his damn mind because he didn’t do it.
“The Court is troubled by Defendant’s failure to take responsibility for violating this Court’s orders, and for failing to ensure compliance over an issue that he explicitly represented to the Court had been accomplished,” the judge wrote.
Here’s my favorite part:
Judge Robinson did not impose a fine or other sanctions, but ordered Mr. Kobach to pay “reasonable” legal fees to the A.C.L.U.
Oh man, that’s gotta hurt.
Thanks to everybody for the heads up.
The wisdom of the judge just made my day. Kobach is a public enemy and needs to be pubically disciplined.
1Well, well, well…who’d a thunk it? A Republican committing voter registration fraud!
2If I remember correctly, contempt of court can – and frequently is – punishable by jail time. The perp stays in jail until he or she agrees to abide by the court’s request/demand. Since he may have finally done as the court ordered him to do, a fair punishment would be a jail term equal to the number of days he flouted the court’s order.
3Old Quaker: My belief is that the proper punishment for most Republicans is to be tarred and feathered and ridden out of town on a rail.
4For Kris Kobach and his KKK White Nationalist White Supremist ilk, the proper punishment is drawing and quartering once for each day they scoff at the Federal Courts’ lawful orders.
Of course I’d be satisfied with something less. For example, a daily caning.
5Zounds! Kobach is being punished by “supporting” the ACLU, the very bunch that brought him down. Now that is classic karma!
6“Judge Robinson… ordered Mr. Kobach to pay “reasonable” legal fees to the A.C.L.U.”
Har har har har har har har har har har….
7Kobach as Karma’s bitch… Yeah, works for me.
8We Kansans are laughing our butts off today!
9You just know he’s going to plead poverty, right…
10Living in Kansas is no bargain. KKK Kobach is now running for Governor, he is backed by the Kochs and we’re sure he will not personally pay a dime but say he was working for the state, What a crock but here we are stuck in a dust bowl of idiocy getting ready to head west to pick fruit in California.
11Old Quaker @1, I’m not sure I could bear seeing Kobach being pubically disciplined. Although, that seems like an appropriate punishment for most Republicans…..but what exactly would that involve, I wonder?
