Oh, East Texas, You’re So Cute.

Sisters in Overton, Texas, decided to sell lemonade to raise money for a Father’s Day present.

That’s until the long arm of the law set them straight.  Chief Clyde Carter was on the job.

Hey, I thought Republicans believed in free enterprise and the business of business.  They don’t need no stinkin’ permit to to screw up our banking system.

Well, it could have been worse.  If they had been black, they’d be in jail.

Mama look away … What a bunch of friggen pr__ks … kids simply are not allowed to be kids anymore because of the anal retentive a-holes!

    SMH at the absurdity!!

  2. Couple of thoughts for the City of Overton….
    1. PD Overton needs to investigate the recent invention of height to weight charts…. Talking to YOU Clyde
    2. City of Overton needs to ignore the crap out of cute little girls (and little boys) selling lemonade to their neighbors.
    3. A 1000 “Attaboys” get wiped out by 1 “Oh $hit”, so City of Overton, you’re in the hole. Again.

  3. It would appear that The City Of Overton, Texas has decided that the only people who will make money from a “has to have a license….Lemonade” stand”…. (permit cost $150)…. will be The City of Overton, Texas.

What Marcia in Co…. said. *like*

  4. Overton…. US State Rep = Louie Gohmert
The voters are really doing a fine job at all levels.

If they were black, they’d have been forced face down on the ground and handcuffed.

  6. If they were black, they might have been shot.

  7. Marlene Steenhoek says:

Why do I think this particular ordinance was passed to eliminate carts in “minority” areas and is an outrage when applied to little white girls? Perhaps the police enforcing this evenly is a good thing.

  8. W. C. (Pete) Peterson says:

So much for the grand Republican idea of shrinking Government down to a size you can drown in a bathtub.

  9. Marge Wood says:

NOBODY gets permits for lemonade stands or garage sales (do they?) or putting stuff out by the curb with a sign saying THIS NEEDS A GOOD HOME. Do they?

    9
  10. Aggieland Liz says:

Marlene it’s an outrage applied to anyone! Get a stinkin job-no, jerk not that one, somewhere where I don’t have to see you dammit, cuz you aren’t old and white like me. Now get off my lawn!

  11. Thank God this lemonade stand was shut down before it was too late. If the small town Police enforcement had continued to leak into the Health Department’s regulations, the mixture of BS might have ignited into another giant fertilizer explosion.

Seems as if somebody on that street called the police on them.
    Dirty rotten Scoundrel!

  13. Sandridge says:

Holy Lemonade! Little Zoey is a clone of my youngest at that age ;] .

    13
  14. Heh heh! My daughter was the same age when she did the lemonade stand bit, but with a twist (couldn’t resist that). Her father told her that if she wanted to make money on this venture, go where the money is. He took a beat up old wagon we got from a trash heap, cleaned it up, painted it, made a very simple lemonade stand that fit in the wagon and left room for product and off she went, to the Little League ball field, etc. I have pictures of her. I think that because she had a moveable business no one ever tracked her down and arrested her for operating without a license, and our county is super-tight on codes and stuff!

  15. Linda Phipps says:

That’s all the overreaching Christian small town officials have, beat down someone powerless. The entire country is going barking mad, starting at the town council level, and moving all the way up to the state … Snot Walker wants to strip all university professors of tenure.

    15
  16. What??? they didn’t claim to be Sovern Citizens?

    16
  17. “If they were black, they might have been shot.”

that was my first thought, sad to say.

  18. Mary in San Antonio says:

So if they are selling food that has to be kept at a certain temperature, they need a Health Dept. inspection? They were selling kettle corn and lemonade. The lemonade looked pretty well iced and how do you know what temp kettle corn should be kept at? Seriously? Overton must not have much crime if the police chief can go after a couple of little girls.
